Focus Optometry

I’ve been coming to Dr. Nguyen for about 12 years and have always been treated kindly. Best place I’ve ever been to get my eyes checked (been to other places before this). The front staff is always friendly and courteous and always willing to answer my questions (regarding insurance and blah blah). Recently, Dr. Nguyen has another doctor working with her and she saw me this most recent time. I don’t remember her name, but she was great and I really liked my visit. Really helped me take full advantage of my insurance too. I always recommend people to Dr. Nguyen’s office if they need an eye exam. There’s a reason I’ve been coming here for 10 years. Keep up the awesome work Focus Optometry! =D

Second time here and they’re the best Optometrist I’ve experienced. This place is pristine. The attention to detail here is amazing. The staff is very nice and friendly. They always clean everything right in front of you. Equipment is new and you can see the dates when their equipment was inspected and the next time it will be. Both Doctor’s have been superb and even gave me some knowledge on other topics outside of Optometry. Can’t recommend enough. As long as I live in SD, this will be the only Optometrist I go to.

You know those people who just shouldn’t work in the customer service line of work? That’s definitely Ana, the girl that was sitting at the front desk during my visit. When we walked into the office we weren’t greeted, neither did we feel welcome there the entire time. The whole time she tried finding my paperwork/​records I was spoken to very rudely. Didn’t even seem like she was trying to assist me at all because after the attempt on trying to find my records, all she told me to do was to «come back tomorrow» and that there was nothing else she could do. Ok? That’s definitely a way to leave your customer satisfied… (which I surely was not) The other girls in the front are somewhat friendly and helpful, but mostly were very unorganized. When employed in a workplace requiring customer service, I suggest employing people who attain that approachable characteristic. Ana definitely did not show any of that for sure, nor did she show the willingness to help. For the rest of the girls, they are mildly friendly, but very timid… but no harsh complaints about them though. I have came to this office for the past 3 years… don’t know now if I’ll ever come back because the customer service here. Or should I say the lack of? #shewasntready

I was in need of an eye exam and referenced Unilocal for reviews. I am very picky when it comes to my eyes! So I used Unilocal to find just a decent optometry for me. I called Focus Optometry to make an appointment for next week, yet the receptionist asked if I could come in 15 minutes hence I showed up. I already felt at ease because the staff was very welcoming and courteous.
When I first walked in, I noticed how clean and neat everything is! Oh btw, they have plenty of parking inside the parking structure, that was a BONUS! I filled out some paperwork and they took me right to the exam. There was NO long wait. AND I LOVE that! Dr. Jasmine was professional, knowledgeable, personal and friendly at the same time. She knew exactly what she was talking about and met my needs.
Overall, excellent service! Highly recommend this place to all Unilocalers that have eye issues and in need of eye care.

Best optometrist I’ve ever had! I have some intense eye issues and Dr. Nguyen was very patient and helpful both times I’ve seen her. She was also good with both of my children, thanks Dr. Nguyen!

I came for contacts. The girls at the front were nice and Dr. Nguyen was really informative and knowledgeable. Unlike most places she wasnt trying to pressure me to buy the most expensive product but rather explained the differences and gave me two trial pairs. I highly recommend!

Every visit here just gets better and better. They have the nicest, most welcoming staff as well as a fresh, clean environment. The new location looks great and is pretty easy to find.
Recently, I came in for an appointment and bought a new pair of sunglasses and a pair of reading glasses. The designs on my new glasses are stunning and I’ve been getting tons of compliments on them! This place has such a wide variety of fashionable frames that it was difficult for me to choose, but I love what I ended up with.
I’ve been going to see Dr. Nguyen for a while now and I highly recommend this place for anyone in need of a new optometrist. With the best service, I’m sure that they won’t be a disappointment to anyone. The staff always patiently takes care of whatever concerns I have and every appointment here runs very quickly and smoothly. I don’t think there is any optometry shop better than Focus Optometry.

I have been coming here for years to see Dr. Nguyen for my annual exams when she was at the old location and am happy to follow her to her new location. I enjoy the fact that she spends time with me during the exams, talks through what she is doing and gives clear instructions on what she needs from me — I don’t feel that I am being rushed along so that she can get to the next patient. She herself is patient, answers my questions and I am always treated with respect.
There is a variety of different brands of contact lenses and eyeglass frames that she carries — variety is important to me. I know what my insurance covers and have not had any issues with what my insurance paid and what I have to pay out of pocket.
I live in the OC and drive down annually to see Dr. Nguyen and have no problems continuing to do so. It is difficult to find a doctor that you like so when you do, you hang onto them.

I have had great experiences here… from the office staff to Dr. Nguyen. My first visit was for an annual eye exam-​then I got a horrible eye infection which turned out to be an ulcer-​Dr. Nguyen kept the office open after hours to take care of me and was very diligent on her follow up with me until my eye healed! I felt like she genuinely cared about me… the customer service is awesome-​they accepted my insurance and that went very smoothly too. I highly recommend Focus Optometry!

I spoke with the doctor yesterday and she attempted to explain the charges for my daughter’s previous visit and explained that she felt she was getting paid back for giving me a discount in 2010. I dont see how I got a discount when I had to pay 89.00 for my visit and then they got paid by the insurance. Also there was a 50.00 fee for getting a prescription for my daughter’s lenses and now this year the price went to 170.00. So is the cost 110.00, 89.00 or 170.00, or wait maybe 149.00 like the other gal that even had a bifocal prescription. Just ridiculous.
I am happy to see another review popping up By a 1^st time reviewer the very same day that references my review, hilarious. Sure those are not solicited!

Great spot to get your eye exam fixings. At $ 149 for an eye exam for contacts & bifocals I came here to update my perscription, no extra fees not even tax. I was stoked walking out wearing a trial pair of contacts and 8 different colored samples to take home and try so I know what colors I want ahead of time when I call to order for my future purchase, Im very happy I found this place near by!
