Five Star Fish Processing

I have been getting my fish processed here for the past 8 years and I have been extremely satisfied each time. Sarah and her crew work hard, are honest and do a superior job with the product. The crew was very patient with us as we packed and repacked some of the coolers to make sure all of our fish fit and they were very helpful loading it in our truck. Hands down the best processor in San Diego!

These guys absolutely treated me with respect, unlike a «fishermans…» choice.

Five Star Fish Processing is truly 5 stars. My dad and I go on Red Rooster III trips almost annually, and every time we depend on Five Star. They are quick and they do what they do well. We haven’t tried their competition, but we have no need to. Their processing is reasonably priced and outstandingly executed.

This is probably the last time I’ll be using 5 Star. Not because they’re not awesome; they are!!! I’m just retiring and leaving the area is all…
5 Star is family owned and run. From the time you check in with Sarah, til the time you pick up your catch, they treat you like family.
The fillets are nearly perfect and sealed in family sized portions. It’s neat, it’s clean, and it’s awesome to know your catch will be darn near as fresh as the day you caught it. I’ve enjoyed blue fin 2 seasons later and it was still good.
I can’t say enough about this operation. Give them and try and you’ll never process your own again.

We were in Lake Tahoe and caught 3 Mackinaw (Lake Trout) fishes that were 11lb, 9lb, and 7lb.
After getting back into San Diego, we found Five Star Fish Processing that would charge approximately $ 1.50 per pound to clean, filet, brine, smoke, and then vacuum pack in individual packages. Delicious! Pretty good way to avoid the fishy mess at home, I say! ENJOY!

This was my first time using 5 star fish processing company and experience I had with Sarah was wonderful. I used different fish processing company in San Diego but no one came close to satisfy me more than 5 start. Sarah was very friendly, understood my need to package quick and set me away so i can catch my plane back to San Francisco. AAA plus service provider, I will never go back to other company now.

Wow! This place is pretty rad, what a great concept. Came here to pick up my bf’s tuna jerky, I was sad that he didn’t get any smoked tuna. So the lady in the front (Sarah) said «oh don’t worry I’ll throw some in for you.» Super sweet! Thanks so much. Definitely coming back here! I hate it when my bf filets the fish right in our kitchen. They filet it, clean it and vacuum seal it! Thanks FIVE STAR FISH PROCESSING oh and she even asked if I had a cooler to keep the fish cold :)

When going tuna fishing, how are you going to get all that tuna into fillets and dinner table ready?
There are several options:
1. Take tuna home and fillet yourself — what a mess!
2. Have the deckhands process the fish on the way in to dock — different boats have different standards of processing. Some give you all your fillets in blue trash bags and some do a little better — packaging in gallon Ziplocs.
3. Use a fish processing service — in my opinion, the best of the 3
Five Star will be there waiting when your boat docks. They will sort, weigh and transport your catch to their plant. Pro cutters at the plant are waiting and can process your catch same day. Mine was ready after a couple of hours. Perfect timing for getting some breakfast at the local café.
They expertly trim each fillet to be sushi ready and vacuum pack. They charge a little more for smoking and a little more for jerky.
I’ve been fishing for years, and finally discovered this wonderful service. Now I have a freezer full of fillets perfectly packaged and ready to be served.

Simply the best fish processing in San Diego. When you spend thousands of dollars on a long range trip, trust your fish with the best processing there is, Five Star. These gals are the best. Just got back from a 6 day trip on the American Angler. The fish was packed in ice in my cooler and ready at the time the promised. You can’t beat 5 Star so don’t try. Go with the best, you won’t regret it.

I have been using 5 Star for many years. I have never had a bad result. Sarah and her crew are great. 5 Star treats every customer with great care. They are respond to your calls or email in a timely manner. I have never heard a bad word or complaint about 5 Star. If you are fishing out of San Diego, ask anyone and see for yourself.
Personally, i will continue to use them.

5 Star Fish Processing sets the standard for fish processing in San Diego… I live out of town and have 5 Star process hundreds of pounds of fish every year, and they box it and have it sent to me via air freight. Every shipment has been perfect and the fish is frozen solid when I receive it.
I have used the other processors but the past 5 years I have used only 5 Star. Simply the best.

Five stars for Five Star! I have been remiss in not getting this review out earlier. I have been long range fishing out of San Diego for more years than I care to tell you, and have done everything from process the fish myself to using a processor. Let me tell you, the LAST thing you wanna do at the end of your fishing vacation is haul the fish home, coerce your friends and family to help you, and spend hours fileting fish. The big bloody mess, the sudden love of all the neighborhood cats, the dog rolling around in tuna slop… well, its all too much for me to deal with anymore.
I used to use another processor, but the quality just wan’t there. Five Star’s excellent facilities, friendly customer service, and quality make the end of your fishing trip a joy, and is a perfect way to finish off your vacation. The cats and your dog may not be too happy, but you will really be glad you chose Five Star.
Oh, and did I mention… SAME DAY SERVICE! Bring your fish and a cooler (hopefully more than one) and they will do the rest.

Thee best on the docks anywhere in So Cal, These women rock the docks when you pull in after a long range trip or even a over nighter.
Service is top notch, VAC/​PAC bags are not the cheap thin ones from China, but rather a good 5 mill thick. Packaging and shipping is tops, the waiting room is great, service is fast and over all I give this place 5 stars.
I have never heard a bad word, nor seen a bad vac pac come from this place.
save the headaches, call 5 start and get it done with it renting space in your head, yes, you really do get your fish back

Five Star Rocks! I was on a four day long range trip on the Red Rooster III. Someone recommeded I use Five Star up here in NorCal before I left on the trip, but I was sceptical, as I had to have everything shipped up here, and am always sceptical. I sent an email and ended up communicating with the owners and decided to go with them because they sounded professional. (I ended up wining a discount card on the fishing trip for another fish processor, but 5-​Star was STILL CHEAPER!!!) 5-​Star did an awesome job and all were a pleasure to work with. They had our fish packed the same day so we could take it on the plane with us back home. Thanks Five Star!!! We’ll see you again for years to come…

I’ve used Five Star Fish Processing for the last four years. They have always done a great job of performing same day processing of my long range fishing catch. Although the costs do add up for a big catch, it is well worth the money to have your fish professionally filleted, vacuum packed and clearly marked. My fish has lasted well over a year in the freezer. Although there is other competition, they haven’t given me reason to try anyone else. Highly recommended.

There is nothing like a women run business, the five star girls do the best job in town. The same day service can’t be beat. You can tell this place is run by fisherman for fishermen. The prices are great for the services you get. The smoked fish is excellent and the vacuum packed fish equals that just caught freshness.
