Love love love this place! Prices are outstanding for what you get! Been here 3 times now. I got the blackened seared Ahi bowl with quinoa twice and the poke bowl once. I wouldn’t have expected such good food when I walked in here. Very fresh tasting. A much healthier option than many of the places around. Usually 4 – 5 options for their fish of the day. They offer marinated skirt steak for beef lovers. They also serve beer and wine! Happy hour 2 – 5 daily with $ 1 off beer, wine, classics and TKOs. Very friendly staff. It is a walk up and order situation. You take your number, sit and they bring your food to you. I highly recommend this place!

The food was of accurate quality, the fries were well battered, the steamed veggies were subpar and you’re essentially paying every nickel you made at work that day for the«fresh fish». That of which hopefully is as healthy as it tastes. The price of anything above a mediocre, over produced dish like a «bowl» or a «tko»(taco) is extremely inflated and reflects the demographic they hope to sell to rather than the source and/or quality they claim to provide. The brand of soda is excellent, that of which provides at least one third of the draw. Quality cane sugar root beer is hard to beat. Summary… better than your local rubios, although authentic soda and delicious fries don’t make up for overpriced«higher quality» dishes, insanely priced beer and amateur lunch specials. Better luck next time Carmel Mountain Ranch Residents.

Since the husband and I moved to the area we’ve been trying out different local eateries. This time around we were looking for something pretty light and fresh and stumbled upon the Fish District while searching for places to eat on Unilocal. Located in the heart of the Carmel Mountain area the Fish District is a very cute casual shop with a little outdoor patio dining area with plenty of parking. Their menu has quite a few items to choose from. From wraps and salads to fried dishes and burgers there are variety of options for every taste palette. I wasn’t very hungry at the time and just ordered a spring mix salad with the fish of the day which was mahi mahi. The husband ordered a seared ahi bowl which came with rice, avocado and fresh veggies. The Fish District is self seating but your meal is served to you at your table. We got our dishes and I wish I ordered my salad with the dressing on the side! Although I did enjoy their miso ginger vinaigrette my salad was drenched in the dressing to the point the my salad was soggy. I wanted to send it back but already started eating it so I told myself that if I were to eat here again to order the dressing on the side. My husband did enjoy his seared ahi bowl although I didn’t get a chance to try his meal. I don’t have any comment on the flavor of the bowl. The portion sizes here are decent I feel like they could be bigger considering I just paid $ 5 for the salad plus an additional $ 6 for the piece of mahi mahi on my bowl I expected more even if it was just more veggies than the protein. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the dishes to show. My husband really enjoyed his first time experience here and will definitely come again. If you are a soda fan, they have a Boyle soda fountain! I wish I ordered a soda when I was here the other day! All in all it was a pretty good first time experience. I want to come back and try other items on their menu. A little bit pricey in my opinion for the portion size but I’ll take into account that they do use fresh quality ingredients in their dishes.

Pretty good poke in North San Diego? Alright. This isn’t Pokinometry. I’ve been spoiled by Pokinometry. But the fish is fresh and the spicy sauce is pretty good. I like the fresh seaweed that’s in the poke bowls. My one complaint about the bowl is that they put too much rice in it. I mean, the rice is good, it’s just the poke to rice ratio is off and I ended up leaving like half the rice in the bowl. $ 8 for the lunch special is pretty decent, but I wouldn’t pay full price for the bowl. My friends got the fish and chips, which they loved and came back two days in a row for. I’ll have to try that next time! Good selection of beers, and the cane soda machine is legit, with cream soda like WHOA. Nice outdoor area where the dog can hang out with you and your dining companions. Good place with decent prices in North County if you’re feeling up for fish but don’t want to drive far. But I think I prefer my build-your-own-poke-bowl places up in Orange County.

Yum! Visited Fish District with a friend last week for dinner and was very satisfied. I knew before entering that I was going to be ordering the ahi poke bowl– a combo of ahi poke, rice, seaweed salad, cucumber and avocado. I love ahi poke and the bowl from Fish District definitely hit the spot. Although the bowl had a good amount of poke– I would prefer to get rid of the other sides(seaweed salad, cucumber and avocado) for more poke. This is the main reason for the 4 stars instead of the 5. Fish District is a casual place, order at the counter get a number and they bring it to you. They also serve beer and wine which is a plus :)

Came here with the bestie after Pangea in PB and Grocery Outlet. Introduced her to this awesome fish and chips place not too far from home. I love it cause it’s on the way home from work for me. Bestie super loved it, she especially loved the scallop and shrimp melt. We also shared the calamari and the salmon poke bowl. Will continue to eat here, as long as they keep up the quality and consistency of their dishes. Their calamari is my fave way of how it’s battered and fried. The different sauces they have are also incredible. I’m so happy to find a quality, yet affordable fish and chips place close to home.

I’m not a huge seafood lover and would choose a burger place over a fish place any day but I was feeling adventurous. Hubby and I stopped by on a Thursday evening and dined in. You order your food, take a number and wait for your food to be brought to your table. We ordered shrimp ceviche as a starter. Hubby order the ahi poke bowl and I had the mahi mahi coastal wrap. In retrospect, I probably should have ordered the traditional which comes with rice and beans and such. The coastal is loaded with coleslaw and lots of mango salsa, which is fine IF you like coleslaw and sweet salsa. I would’ve worn my glasses. Wait I don’t wear glasses. The shrimp ceviche was fantastic, tangy and perfect with tortilla chips, I’d definitely recommend this. The poke was decent. Not a huge sushi person. My mahi mahi wrap was flavorful, the fish was moist and well cooked. It has A LOT of coleslaw inside. A LOT. Service was good, the table we wanted to sit at needed to be cleared and the gentleman that worked there cleared it off right away. The starter came out quickly and the food soon after. It was all the right temperature. I’d come back. I’m gonna try the fish and chips next time around.

Definitely worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood! They have AMAZINGPOKEBOWL lunch specials(11am-2pm) where you have the choice of tuna or salmon poke and a choice of various poke bowl sauces. They also give you the option of rice or quinoa(if you tryna be healthy). I always get the salmon poke bowl with quinoa and the traditional sauce(SOGOOD) and its only ~$ 7 for a pretty hefty bowl! It comes with yummy slices of avocado, seaweed salad, ginger, cucumbers, rice/quinoa, and your choice of fish & sauce. If you aint feeling poke, the FISH&CHIPSARETODIE. The batter for the fish and fries is so crunchy and decadent. The fish is moist and delicious(definitely worth a try & would HIGHLY recommend!)

Maybe I didn’t order the right thing, but I didn’t particularly enjoy my visit here. The place itself is one of those order at the counter and get a number for your food to be delivered to your table. The customer service was good. Everybody was friendly. I ordered the shrimp and scallop brioche sandwich and it just didn’t do it for me. The sandwich filling was bland and overly mayonnaissey. I tried it as it was prepared and then added hot sauce. It just wasn’t very flavorful. The fries were good. The price was okay and fine for the amount of food. I guess the thing to eat is the poke.

I didn’t realize how far this place was from campus but I trusted Google Maps… EVENTUALLY I made it here! I came here on a Friday night and met up with a close friend. I had been craving some ahi poke and this place seemed like a great spot with the good variety of seafood dishes. It was pretty busy but the line moved quickly… so be prepared to know what you want to order! We ordered: –Lemongrass Shrimp Soup //EHHH. Lukewarm(literally). I’m very familiar with this flavor because my mother cooks something similar quite often, so it just tasted like a bowl of coconut milk with heavy lemongrass. Not a lot of shrimp, but I think this would taste so much better with rice! It’s pretty salty though… –Fried calamari(calamari fritti) //Yum! I couldn’t stop eating this. A bit on the salty side, but still, a great appetizer to share. –Spicy salmon poke //Pretty spicy!(Or maybe I have low tolerance.) Delicious, none-the-less! Get this if you don’t like tuna. Salmon pieces are thick and succulent, and you can tell its fresh fish because the coloring is right. –Ahi tuna poke //Tuna pieces on point. Color is right, and texture is right. Only thing is, I wolved it down so quickly I couldn’t really enjoy it as much! A bit too much rice for the $ 10 price, but I like the addition of seaweed salad. I wasn’t so happy with the huge bunch of sweetened ginger though… that could have been a bit more of tuna! Pros: –Great service. They are helpful with recommending dishes and they bring your food to you as soon as they can! –Nice ambiance. I sat here for 2 – 3 hours with my friend, and they didn’t even kick us out even though we were done eating and they were beginning to close. –Good selection. I like their menu options– definitely friendly for a light dinner and all groups! Cons: –A bit too much rice? I mean, it wasn’t bad rice, but it was too much rice. I hope they give more poke next time! Tips/Observations: –Ample parking. It’s in a busy plaza, so park anywhere! Overall, I would definitely come here for lunch specials. Not that dinner is more pricey, but this place is more of a lunch than dinner location to dine at.

Very friendly staff, wonderful food! The freshest sea food and ingredients make this place worth trying! You will be absolutely hooked! If you are a fan of sushi, I suggest the poké bowl. Everything I have tried is amazing!

This place is a 5 minute drive from my office and when I’m craving fish, this has become my go to spot. I’ve only had their salmon poke bowl(it’s so good I haven’t been able to bring myself to order anything else) but it’s amazing. For the lunch special, you can choose your fish(tuna or salmon) along with your marinade for only $ 7.50. They have a ton of menu options with reasonable prices for the quality of food you’re getting. The first time I went, I ordered to go and waited 5 – 10 mins to get my food which is fine since they make to order but I highly recommend calling your order in for pickup if you’re in a hurry. Did that the 2nd time and I was in and out in only a few mins.

I LOVE the lunch deal: poke bowl with either salmon or ahi tuna, seasoned with the regular, spicy mayo or wasabi flavor on top of a bed of sushi rice. I love it. It’s so worth the $ 7.50 and you can get it from 11AM-3PM. I also LOVED their fries. I’m a huge fan of french fries, and I ordered a side of fries with my lunch poke bowl one day and I loved it. The fries are quite thick, and that perfect crispy crunchy on the outside and soft fluffy on the inside. They were amazing! I can’t wait to try their fish and chips as well. The reason I don’t give a 5 star review is the blackened ahi bowl– I see some other reviews that echo what I’m about to say, that the rice is sweet. Not rice vinegar sweet, like I-just-dumped-syrup-on-my-rice sweet. It was so weird and that one I just ate the fish on top and didn’t like the rice at all. Which is weird because the rice on the lunch poke bowl is seasoned properly with rice vinegar, which has both acidity and a touch of sweetness. TL:DR; LUNCHDEAL, FRIES, MUCHGOOD, VERYYUM.

This is one of my favorite healthier lunch spot, I always always get the Poke bowl here. Who can say no to $ 7.50 lunch special right? I like the mix of fresh cucumbers, gingers, seaweed, furikake(dry seaweed seasoning), avocado, rice, and most importantly the fresh poke! I personally prefer the salmon since the quality of the fish feels a bit better than the tuna. There’s never a line during lunch and lots of tables to sit. I’m not a big soda fan, but FYI they do have cane sugar sodas! Will be back to try other things on the menu!

Dined here on a busy Friday night… Parking was packed as they share the lot with other eateries but that didn’t bother me. Got in and noticed that this place was packed. Everyone was already eating so our party was able to order quickly. We grabbed a free table and received our food in about ten minutes! We ordered a few poke bowls, tacos and chowder fries… Each item was delicious and very fresh. The presentation was great! The dining area was a bit uncomfortable as the bench seats don’t budge or contour your booty. The table was clean and good sized but they didn’t provide Heinz Ketchup, though they did carry Heinz malt vinegar?! The service was so so. The cashier who I believe was the manager was friendly but the young lady that brought out our food wasn’t. She must have been finishing up her shift and had a long day… We’ve all had days like these too. I wish she noticed the tip that I left at the register, maybe she would have smiled a little bit more lol. The soda which isn’t Coke or Pepsi brand was refreshing. I chose the ginger ale and was refillable. Overall I enjoyed my meal, and the rest of our party did too but it definitely didn’t help that they decided to take the trash out as we were eating… at first I thought it was smell of the malt vinegar but realized it was the trash… Thanks! We will probably be back but not for a while. This would actually be a 3.5 star review…

When I first ate here, it was 5 stars all the way! I finally returned and brought my mom, but this time, the great stuff was left a bit wanting. My main concern was that the ahi poke was chopped so large that it was tough to eat. SO we had to cut them smaller with a plastic knife. lol! NOT the experience I wanted. However, once we cut the ahi, it went back to melting in our mouths. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so I’m not sure what to attribute this lack of consistency to. Before, I couldn’t wait to go back and the 30 minute drive was worth it, but not so much anymore. But, it was great before, so maybe it’s still worth a try if you are in the area. I might have just gotten them on a bad day.

Came around 7pm weekday night and the store was pretty empty. Located in a huge plaza, so there’s plenty of parking spaces. Once you enter, you’ll first order at the cashier, then they’ll bring the food to you. 1. Spicy Salmon Poke bowl($ 10)– includes seaweed salad, nori, avocado, cucumber, and ginger. I’ve tried a lot of poke bowls and this one is definitely a more Americanized version. The toppings and sauces are pretty basic, but I like that they added some rice vinegar to the rice. There’s not many poke places in San Diego, but this definitely satisfies my cravings. 2. Chowder Fries($ 5)– Seems like another typical chowder fries with bacon bits and a bit of chowder on top. I like that the fries doesn’t get too soggy, but I would recommend sharing.

The first visit to Fish District was a little overwhelming, with a line out the door and a fairly complicated menu. I chose the arugula salad with mahi… The wait was quite a while, and when my food arrives they had given me the kale salad by mistake. Luckily I like kale(don’t love it) and I didn’t want to wait any longer. I had a great saint archer blonde on tap and felt good about returning one day. I lunched there today with my husband and had a much better experience. I ordered the arugula salad with mahi again, and it was excellent! Much better than the kale in my opinion. Fresh mounds of goat cheese and walnuts give it a really nice and rich texture– while the light dressing and fish are all flavor on top of the peppery greens. It was delightful! The hubs had the ahi poke bowl. When he ordered the poke bowl, the girl at the counter confused us by asking how he wanted his ahi. She then asked if he wanted it blackened– so he said yes. Needless to say we should have clarified the poke bowl– because the bowl came with rice, greens and a big wedge of fresh blackened seared ahi. While it was really fresh and he ate it happily– the poki bowl is really what he wanted… With poke! Very fresh fish and 2 – 5 happy hour with a dollar off beers and dollar off certain entrees. We can’t wait to hit this place up on the weekend for their fish and chips(which look amazing!) and a good tap beer.

6.1 This place has yet to let me down! Their fish and chips is amazingly good. I’m not sure how they do it but had it once and I can’t stop thinking about it. Probably can’t have it again until my next cheat day. Ugh. lol. My go to is their Ahi Rice Bowl. The first time I had it their rice was perfect. It was one of the best sushi rice I had with the right amount of vinegar. The next 4 – 5 times the rice was okay and sometimes a bit hard. On my recent visit the rice was better than usual but not quite the same taste and texture I had my first visit. But it was still good. I recommend getting their sauces on the side. I don’t like the sauce going all over the rice. All the sauces are good but I tend to order the one with wasabi. I have yet to try the Salmon bowl because I have heard its not that great. So I stick with the Ahi instead. Great service as well, the person at the cashier are always so friendly and patient. Did I mention during lunch time the bowl is only 7.50? Yeah it’s a great deal. Great place for some protein and a bit of carbs after a hard workout. Or just lunch time food in general. See you soon !

I came across this place by chance while running errands in the area. Tucked away next to the Habit Burger joint, this place is a great local eatery! First off, they have fresh, awesome poke(shoyu style, spicy mayo and wasabi), which you can buy a la cart OR in a bowl! What is more awesome is that you can sub stuff in the bowl too. I like quinoa in mine =). My favorite flavor is spicy mayo, while my fiancé likes the wasabi better. All three flavors are worth a try! And the awesomeness doesn’t just stop there, ohhhhh nooo sir. Their crispy ahi poke tacos are also really amazing, as well as their shrimp and scallop melt. The last time we went, we tried out their portobello fries, which came with a really good aioli dipping sauce. Seriously, everything we have tried here so far has been a hit! The prices are not too bad either. A really nice place to grab a casual lunch or dinner, or a post-workout meal while cooling off in their outdoor patio!
