Fabio Santos is one of only 3 coral belts in the entire US, and what really is important to note is that he actually teaches each class himself. if you want to learn bjj, this is the only place to go. all the other places are for show. this place is for mastery

I trained with Fab for a short while. The only reason I didn’t continue was financial related issues, which resulted in me ultimately moving out of state. I miss FSBJJ and the whole team. Probably the best BJJ academy I have ever trained at. Fabio cracks me up… same personality as me and just comedy all around. Either you click with him or not… simple. His JJ is awesome. I am trying to find a way to move back to SD namely due to the quality BJJ there… with FSBJJ at the top of my list.

Been here once, heard about it a lot. Had a great experience. Learned a very cool choke which I have unfortunately never been able to replicate. Fabio is a staple in the jj community. Every one knows him and everyone knows this place, and some really legit people come from this place.

I started looking for a place to train and after trying out several local studios i no longer need to look anywhere else. Fabio’s is the best, Him and Alex take personal interest in their students. You wont find a more humble and family friendly place to train for all skill levels, fitness levels age or gender. If youve been wanting to give jiu jitsu a try this is a great place!

While being out of town on a business trip for the month, there was no way to get my jiu jitsu fix. This school happen to be the closest to my hotel room so I decided to give it a call. At first, I was apprehensive as my impression of BJJ schools did not take kindly to outsiders, with reputations being at stake. But I like a crack whore in Boyz n the Hood I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to go into unknown territory and offer them a cheese burger! Fabio is very nice and welcoming as are the students. There were several high ranking belts and black belts there and they offer gi rentals. What luck for me! Open mat is only 5 $ and classes are 25 $ for two hours. I definitely will come back when I am in town. Techniques are great as can be seen from previous post. Sometimes I felt like I was playing Rock Band and Jiu Jitsu because of all the tapping I was doing. Overall, great place for out of twoners. They will not rip your head off when you come in as there are very nice people at the gym and the techniques are top notch.

This is definitely the premier location in San Diego for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! There are many options in San Diego, but Fabio is definitely the best. He is also one of 5 Red and Black belts in the US!

This is a great place to train in Brazilian JiuJitsu. I have seen many different schools here in San Diego. Here you can learn with some great guys. Yes you will be sore and tired but Fabio is Great. You should come by and take a look and decide for your self. Old school in the new age. Another thing that you might like to know. There are many people that come to train here for a day or two. Many schools out there have a blue belt teaching or purple or brown. Here you always have Fabio. Plus I have seen as many as 8 Black belts train in regular classes. This is by far the best value for your dollar! Most Black belts charge up to 200 per hour to just train with them. Some times in class you can roll with three or four. We also have the best kids training program around. Alex just won the worlds in no GI. How cool is that. Your child will be taught by the best!

I have trained here now for almost two years and have also had family and friends start to train here. Obviously this is a place to train BJJ I would recommend to anyone. Classes can be as small as 4 or as large as 24, it all depends. This is a traditional bjj school in every sense and I like it that way. People come and go but San Diego is THE place for bjj in the US and Fabio’s helps keep it that way. No matter what your goal is, I feel you can be accommodated here. So come down and try a free class! Any specific questions, ask me!

Authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu straight from Rio De Janeiro. If you are thinking about training Jiu Jitsu, do not go to city boxing or any similair type of gym. You might be learning from a purple or brown belt or something. Fabio has been training his whole life and teaching 20+ years. His teacher was the founder of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and I believe he is the only instructor in San Diego with a Master’s belt.

This is the first black belt academy in San Diego. I began my BJJ training here in 97 with Fabio and still miss it to this day. Fabio really cares about his students and is like a father to his team. The rates here are very low compared to other SD area BJJ schools. This academy is a champion factory. Dean Lister got his start here. I’d still be attending classes here if I was in SD. Update: Ditto on D.D.‘s response to «John C’s» review. If John C. really did train 3 – 4 days a week for«about a year,» then it probably meant that his blackbelt in Kajukenbo did nothing for him but get him beat up 3 – 4 days a week for«about a year.» He probably decided to pick his sucker out of the dirt and move on because he couldn’t hang. I trained with Fabio on and off for 9 years and have trained with D.D. as well(i.e. D.D. kicking my butt). If you’re humble and are a team player, you are family here. If you think you’re a badass, you will be humbled quickly. Anyone that has real life experience in hand to hand combat knows that multiple attacker and knife defenses are very hard to pull off… even for the extremely well trained. Also, Street fights DO go to the ground because someone will either slip or get knocked down/out. While you’re on the ground, might as well know what you’re doing. Unfortunately, most McDojos teaching standup pajama fighting techniques will get you killed. Learn something that works. True, BJJ is not the«ultimate art,» as there is no such thing. But for BJJ, Fabio’s school is the best in San Diego.
