Learn to drive with Express Driving School! We provide comprehensive driving lessons– DMV approved online driver education, behind the wheel training, defensive driving strategies, refresher courses, and driving course preparations for the DMV drive test. Our fleet of clean and reliable vehicles are 2010 or newer models and are fully insured and DMV inspected. Our patient and DMV licensed instructors will provide a safe and comfortable learning experience for teens and adults.

History

Established in 2001.

Express Driving School was established in 2001 and is currently owned and operated by Frank V. Vongsawat. Frank immigrated from a war-​ridden Laos in 1976 and has always dreamt of owning his own business in America. After his retirement from UCSD Medical Center in 1998, Frank embarked on the journey that would lead him to his American dream. Frank started his career in the driving business as a driving instructor. After a few years, he learned enough about the business to open his own Express Driving School. Frank is a patient and kind instructor who is committed to working with his community. He is excited to grow the driving school and provide San Diego with safe and defensive driver training.

Frank was born and raised in a small Southeast Asian town, called Pakse, in Laos. He immigrated to the US in 1976 with his wife and two young daughters. After settling in San Diego, CA, Frank completed his family with the addition of his son in 1981. When he’s not spending quality time with his four grandchildren, Frank enjoys traveling and gardening. Frank has a total of 15 years of behind-​the-​wheel training experience. In 2001, he opened his own school, Express Driving School. He is knowledgeable and current with all California driving laws and regulations. Frank is a kind and patient instructor. He is able to provide quality lessons by assessing each driver’s needs and providing constructive feedback.

I got my first class yesterday with Frank and it was simply awesome! I was very worried as I didn’t drive much before getting my first class and Frank was nice, very calm and patient with me. He took his time to show me everything I needed to know, answer my questions and chat a bit to take away the stress. He also helped me understand my mistakes to improve. I highly recommend his classes. I will take more as I will get better with him. Best school ever don’t look further. :)

Frank is a very good driving instructor. He is very calm, very professional, and really teaches well. I booked a lesson with him and asked him to arrange my appointment at DMV. He was very patient too when we had to wait almost 2 hours at the DMV just to be tested on behind-​the-​wheel, didn’t even charge me for that. I passed at first try with just 2 mistakes from driving maneuvers. I highly recommend him!

This place is amazing, frank was such a great teacher, I am 25 years old and have never sat behind a wheel before, frank was super patient with me and thought me well, I took my driving test this morning and passed! I tell everyone I meet to call frank if they need to get a refresher or learn like me, so glad I found this school, of I could I would rate it 100 stars.

I called Frank first for price… and second because he comes to us!.. he was sweet and quiet and did a really good job with both my daughters. my youngest had not even stepped foot in a car before and now she has been driving to school and back practicing to take her test. My oldest worked with Frank and we also paid for the Drive test service where he picked her up for the test and took her there. Taylor was diagnosed Autistic when she was younger and driving has been a little bit of a challenge for her and with Frank’s guidance and help with all this the experience was very comfortable for Taylor and SHE PASSED HER TEST. I highly recommend Frank and Express Driving School. Very Pleased.

My Dad recently failed at a Chula Vista, CA Driving school that had several 5 star review. So, I asked him to try Express Driving School. Frank was the instructor. He was very patient and understanding. He came to pick him up and taught him how to drive. He also made time available to take my Dad for drive test and he did pass this time. Definitely recommend Frank as driving instructor.

I signed up at Express Driving School to complete my mandatory 6 hours of behind-​the-​wheel before getting my license. I was a fairly comfortable driver before this class, but after the help from my instructor Doreen, I gained the confidence I needed to become a good driver. I was very prepared for my DMV behind-​the-​wheel test and passed on my first try! Doreen always showed up at my house promptly, ready to instruct, and gave great driving tips. I highly recommend Express Driving School. Not only is a the best deal in San Diego is has incredible behind-​the-​wheel classes. I could not have asked for a better experience

This is an awesome driving school and was totally worth it! I just passed my behind the wheel test on the first time Friday. The driving instructor, Frank, was patient during each lesson and explained everything I needed to be a safe driver. I definitely recommend this school. Its DMV approved, affordable, and very helpful.
