Evening Creek

The management (Travis and Matt) were very responsive to all of our needs. Repair requests were handled very promptly, and follow-​ups to repair requests always occur the next day or two. We were very happy with Dan and Art.
It’s pretty safe. Most of the complex is upper-​middle class and the neighbor’s seemed really friendly. It’s pretty dog friendly too.
The complex management holds a TON of events for the apartment community. Movie nights, cooking classes, dog-​of-​the-​month, door decorating, tons of stuff. It’s a fun place to live. We moved since we purchased a home. Thank you again Travis and Matt for everything! :-)

The managers at this complex … Matt and Travis really go out of their way to explain everything in great detail. If by chance there is an issue that happens to arise they are quick to jump in and find a workable solution in a very professional manner. The complex itself has a great gym, recreation area and other amenities. Got a pet? This place is very dog friendly! Nice place … Definitely 5 stars!!!

I couldn’t decide between 4 and 5 stars, but the few negative reviews make me want to put 5 stars to combat them. I have really enjoyed the natural sunlight, 2 car garage, privacy, fast response maintenance, and super helpful/​friendly staff (go Travis!). Yes, there are cheaper complexes and I moved from one of those cheaper complexes. Before moving to Evening Creek, we couldn’t watch a movie without turning volume up for dialog and volume down for any action scenes played on a crappy portable iPod speaker system… all because our neighbor complained constantly about our loud «surround sound system.» They came from Georgia, and I think had ridiculous expectations with a cheap apartment with bad insulation and shared walls. Evening Creek I have occasionally heard music or a yapping dog, but it is really faint and never late at night. In a complex you WILL HAVE SHARED WALLS. I don’t think a lot of renters get this notion that they may hear their neighbor. San Diego is expensive, so pony up the cash if you want a detached house. Otherwise Evening Creek has the best noise insulation for a rental that I have experienced out of 5+ rentals in my life throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Ventura County, and San Francisco.
Gym is good, they could expand it. All amenities are nice really, I just don’t use all of them. Free tennis lessons and yogo organizing events are cool. I never really socialized in the community, but would imagine it is excellent for kids.
Also, locked myself out about a dozen times, not joking. They have not charged me a dime to get a spare from the office and let myself in.

My family and I really loved living at Evening Creek. It’s a very nice community that has many amenities and an upscale atmosphere. We moved recently as we eventually outgrew the place and wanted a yard for the kids to play in.
I loved my neighbors (miss them dearly), LOVED my unit (we even had a view!), and also appreciated the little things like coffee and fresh fruit in the club house. My daughter and I walked to her elementary school, and shopping was incredibly close by. Our unit had a full size washer and dryer, and my favorite… a large 2-​car garage that’s not tandem!
We utilized the pool, rented out the community center for a party, and my husband used the fitness center every morning while I did zumba and yoga (classes included in rent). Food truck visits were always fun, and the pizza by the pool made for a great cheap and easy, occasional dinner.
Obviously, it’s not the least expensive place to live, but it’s definitely nice. When my husband and I were originally looking to rent, I wanted someplace that felt like a real home, and not so much like an apartment. This one fit the bill.

My partner and I relocated to San Diego due to job relocation. I had only a few weeks to find a condo. Luckily I found evening creek online and spoke with Travis, the resident manager. He was able to work with us from San Francisco and place us into our condo in Evening Creek smoothly and with the highest customer service. Both Travis and Crystal (Community Director) both helped make the transition less stressful. They go beyond to help the residence of Evening Creek feel at home. We are currently renting a 3 bedroom condo, and layouts are nice and looked as advertised.

Although we are not residents, I feel it’s necessary to write a review on this place. My husband and I were debating between two properties — this one and another. Travis worked with us and was BEYOND helpful. He gave us time to make a decision and even showed us the model twice. We decided to rent a beautiful 2 bedroom, but had to ultimately cancel when we realized the garage wouldn’t give the necessary storage we needed. We were completely bummed out that we had to decide against Evening Creek due to storage, but I would highly recommend this place to anyone without needing that extra storage space. I didn’t give 5 stars because they do not have guest parking and for me, that was the one negative.

Would suggest prospective renters be cautious of managed properties if you don’t know exactly what that entails. It can be wonderful or awful depending on ones expectations or perspectives. HG Fenton is the absolute worst I’ve encountered.
I come from rural America (which doesn’t exist in CA, in my opinion) and have never encountered «managed properties» before moving to CA. I do not belong in a «managed property» community, so please read the following with that in mind. The 1 star rating is because «managed properties» are not for me.
Management doesn’t do anything illegal and much depends on the manager of the apartment complex as to professionalism and courtesy toward tenants. In the 16 months I’ve lived here this complex is on its 4^th manager. The current manager has asked me to take down this post. He doesn’t believe they deserve to have the truth, as I’ve experienced it, of their behavior published. He’s stated that they do «work» that can destroy quality of life for tenants for managements «convenience» and thus the tenant doesn’t count. If you like that kind of management, this is for you.
The mgr we have now is semi-​concerned about the quality of life for residents, but before Travis came that did not appear to be the case. Travis only cares if you complain every single time. The Community Director, Crystal, has been here for several years and as other reviewers have stated she has a real attitude problem. She can be a bully, belligerent, is rude and unprofessional in my opinion. While she is correct to the letter of the law, she has no problems making life difficult for tenants with her, Sherman Tank «We have the right to…» conduct. They make commitments they don’t keep and think nothing of it, but are rude and mean and force tenants who need to reschedule work and refuse the requests for rescheduling. They expect tenants to work with them, but they won’t work with tenants very well, and they don’t feel like they have to consider tenants needs.
Construction of the buildings has nothing to do with the property management, but is shoddy! These buildings would never pass inspections in northern climates. There are holes around the doors (at the door sill area) and windows (between the sliding windows), sound proofing is poor, heat/​cold insulation is terrible, but the buildings do seem to have good earthquake construction. They withstood the 7.2 earthquake a couple years ago. As to the climate insulation, the apartments fairly closely mirror the outdoor hot temperatures as the day heats up. Then as the day cools off one has to open windows and doors to get the apartment to cool off, unless one has no problems paying the gross prices the local power company charges to run the a/​c.
Noise tolerance is mandatory with the pathetic noise insulation. One can hear doors slamming, garage doors, kids playing, parents talking, music, vehicular noises inside and out of the complex. Tree trimming is so noisy it’s mind blowing. No tenant music would ever be tolerated that loud, but the law allows a rude management to allow tree trimmers to run chippers in the compound, for mgmts «convenience.» This is a management rudeness problem.
The lease agreement allows management to come in at their will, with 24 hours notice or so, for upgrades, inspections, basically whatever their needs and wants are, and there hasn’t been consideration by Crystal for rescheduling when a person is sick, is working nights and needs to sleep days, or is in some way indisposed, but thankfully Travis has adjusted some schedules minimizing disruptions from 24+ hrs to 3 hours. The planning skills of these people are incompetent in my opinion, as the disruption is maximized for the tenants.
The maintenance man here is very nice and kind, he is extremely helpful. If he is out and about and sees someone needs help. He’s right there to help and ensure safety. Getting maintenance scheduled and accomplished isn’t fast and they don’t notify someone who is expecting their arrival when they don’t show. A flippant insincere «sorry» by management is all that’s extended and they don’t change their behavior.
Renters, beware of this property, I’d suggest being wary of all HG Fenton managed properties unless you KNOW you like managed properties. In many respects, in my opinion, they’ve nearly made this property pet un-​friendly and family un-​friendly. There is no «Home» feel here, the threat of invading management is always present and real. I wanted a community to live in and more closely found what I’d expect of a commune. I’m thankful to be OUT!!! I believe prospective renters have the right to know and choose based on their own preferences and others experiences.

I am so glad we moved here… I love this community!
1. Location — Sabre Springs is a quiet & decent neighborhood, with easy access to a lot of shopping complexes, grocery stores & I-​15. You can get anything within a couple of miles drive. Transit station is at a walkable distance.
2. Apartments — Really nice layout of the apartments, good appliances, beautiful interiors.
3. Community — Very clean, well maintained, gated community. Very courteous, helpful & friendly staff, nice neighbors, pet friendly. Top notch amenities — heated pool, tennis court, gym, entertainment room, library room, conference room, wi-​fi, free classes for yoga, zumba & tennis. What else could anyone ask for?
This is the best community I have ever lived in!

worst customer service ever! I tried calling the office to get more info on the property and Crystal was very rude. I mean I could have gotten better customer service from someone working at mcdonalds!

I’ve lived in several condo communities over the last 10 years and none compare to Evening Creek. The thing that sets Evening Creek apart is the people. I love knowing that the Evening Creek staff is here when I need them. The ammenities are definitely a plus, but in my opinion, it’s the people that make the difference. From the application process when I first applied, to an occasional maintenance related issue I can always count on a prompt and caring response. It’s hard to find people that truly care about tenants these days. Thanks Evening Creek– Keep up the hard work!

After a horrible previous experience elsewhere, Evening Creek was a breath of fresh air! I have now been living here for almost 2 years and it has been such a relief moving into a community that really values their tenants. The staff is always very friendly, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a beautiful setting, nice neighbors and an overall great rental experience. I am so glad to call Evening Creek home, I couldn’t ask for a better community!

Evening Creek is truly a heaven-​sent in San Diego!!! Since my move to Southern California, I’ve literally lived in 6 different upscale rental communities and I have to say Evening Creek blows them ALL out of the water. First of all, the community that it’s located in is absolutely gorgeous. Sabre Springs is a quiet, cozy little nook in San Diego with accessibility to all sorts of shopping centers and super close to some of the main freeways in San Diego. Secondly, the layouts of the floorplans are by far the best I’ve seen in apartment home communities. They’re so spacious and the interiors are top notch. I sometimes wish the units were for sale because I’m considering buying and I’d love to own a condo like the one’s at Evening Creek. As far as the management goes, they are all wonderful. Everytime I had a maintenance concern, they responded IMMEDIATELY. Like I said, I’ve lived in a number of communities and have a lot of experience with these departments and I’m so impressed by how responsive they are. As far as the sales and administrative staff, they’re always available to answer my questions and get things done in an extremely timely manner. They’re so friendly and wonderful too. All in all, my experience has truly been a 5 star one at Evening Creek. I couldn’t be any happier with my resident experience.

DONT MOVE HERE! Inefficient layouts, zero noise insulation, no preventive maintenance, old appliances, horrible service from office «manager» and maintenance guy (yes, there is only one person for all apartments), and inconsiderate neighbors.
These apartments look nice but are really not made for small living space, you can hear every time the neighbors leave/​arrive when the garage doors open and close. You can hear the traffic noise ALL day long. also, everything in our apartment was broken as soon as we moved in; AC/​Heater not working, sink plugged, dishwasher, bathroom toilet, and kitchen light fixtures. The maintenance guy just says «light fixtures fall in all apartments, theres nothing we can do». For the price we pay this is unacceptable. Neighbors keep parking outside our garage door so annoying! the old appliances are so noisy and our stove had a gas leak when we moved in. all these problems have been fixed (as the manager says) but it took 4 months, many phone calls, and we even had to go buy our own heater for the cold nights!!!
For the price of rent, these apartments are HORRIBLE!!! you can find something better and cheaper with better service and amenities.
