From the first moment of walking in off the street for a tour after looking at multiple properties in the neighborhood, I was greeted with a smile!!! I explained my past experiences (not good) and that I was nervous to make a move and bad decision. After two weeks and many visits even the property manager Kristina took a hands on interest to assure that this was the right choice!!! I felt they cared for my happiness and understood where I live is my home is not just a place to live!!! Recently as it does, Kristina’s support staff has changed but the quality of service has not suffered just the opposite it has even improved!!! I can’t believe they have been able to exceed my expectations!!! I love my home and the neighborhood with a community focus from taco Tuesday’s on the sky lounge to beer and wine socials after a long week. Shout out to Bryan and his maintenance team and the friendly faces in the office Cody and Whitney!!! My San Diego life has taken a 360 turn for the awesome living at EV lofts!!!

This is the best place I’ve ever lived in my life! I’ve lived at a few other buildings here in Downtown, but this one is my favorite. I’ve been here almost 3 months now and I love it. Some of the obvious things you will love immediately in the order I believe will wow you the most:
#1. The HUGE rooftop with probably the best view of Downtown San Diego (look at my rad picture).
#2. The super rad gym. It’s a real gym. I’ve seen trainers in their working with people.
#3. The movie theatre with some cool looking couch things that are cozy and make you want to take a sweet nap.
#4. The building is beautiful! Your friends will think you are super fancy when they walk in and you can act cool.
Some of the things that aren’t obvious until you move in that you will love:
#1. The events that EV lofts has for its residents. I’ve been here close to three months and in that short time I’ve attended a cool cooking class, sushi night where you made your own sushi and drank sake, yoga class followed by lunch, a fun DJ party on the rooftop, and this Saturday is the Chili Cook off contest. I wasn’t even a resident and I came to their grand opening party and they treated me like a champ and fed me and gave me adult drinks. It helps you get to know your neighbors.
#2. There is a trash valet. Your trash and recycling is picked up, just neatly place it outside your door and soon it disappears. I wish they could do that for some gross people in my life, but I think that’s a different review.
#3. The location. If I went on about everything there is within walking distance it would get way too long. Some of the things you’ll love are the fact that you have Alberston’s and Grocery Outlet on either side of you, Gaslamp is a few blocks away, and the best is that right across the street is the Quartyard. You can go on the roof and enjoy their shows for free.
#4. The residents are super cool. The events EV puts on makes you get to know them and so far everyone is super duper cool. No nerds so far.
#5. This one is the best. The staff. They kick ass. They’re genuinely nice and will actually talk to you about your day and how things are going and they’re very professional. I feel at home here because of them. When you come in say hi to Kristina and Cody. They rock.
Bonus points: The microwave says GOOD when your food is done, that makes me happy. There is a rad coffee machine for your coffee fix. They also have snacks and refreshments and A LOT of chocolate. I hate chocolate, but when I have visitors they get real excited. Also when you’re walking to the elevators, it’s really fun to push the blue lights on the wall and watch them go off and on. There’s a lot more, but you can find them when you move in.

Moving to EV has been a breath of fresh air. Trust me, I about gave up on apartments in San Diego as I’ve seriously probably toured them all and was disappointed in both. I actually lived in another «new» complex a couple blocks away and moved out after a month as it was so bad (see my other reviews or details if you wish). EV has exceeded my expectations so far.
We actually toured twice over the course of a month and were able to see many different floor plans. The beauty of touring and moving here now when we did is that it is a brand new building and there are literally tons of brand new, never lived in apartments for your choosing. We initially wanted to be on a higher floor but opted for a unit on the 1^st floor. It’s amazing. For being an apparent complex it has amenities that could rival some of the condo’s for sale in the area. Like a 9,000 square foot rooftop with I think three TV’s (at least), fake grass, two separate grilling areas, a few fire pits and also a dog park up top. It’s really nice. It’s not one of these rooftops that some apartments claim to have that just have enough room to turn around on. This one is huge. The gym is actually… wait for it… like a gym. It’s not the cheap ellipticals and budget brand weights. It actually feels like a gym, has beautiful high quality equipment, a bathroom and also towel service. There’s a movie room with super comfortable and modern seating, a massive TV in there, and remote’s you can rent to watch whatever it is you want. There’s also a lounge area outside of that with tons of seating and another fire pit.
Things that stood out here for us was the ease of the process. One of the other apartments I rented was such a pain that I was surprised when they didn’t make us take a physical before approving us. Not here. Granted, it’s thorough which is awesome to keep riff raff out but once everything got approved they do a great job of seamlessly getting you in here without causing a migraine. There’s also security at night to combat the homeless wanderers and they have so far done a great job making us feel safe and keeping people away from the building. Granted, it’s East Village so it’s not homeless-​free like Coronado but so far it’s a very safe feel and comfortable coming home. The garage is huge. It’s not like our last apartment that had parking where they mark the spots so small you couldn’t fit a unicycle in them. These spots are big and there’s ample parking and it’s also secure.
The finishes in the units are nice. The cabinets are great, I have concrete flooring and very high ceilings. I haven’t heard any noise yet and all the residents I’ve met have been extremely friendly and definitely community-​focused from what I’ve seen. The bathroom is great. The tubs are deep and the shower heads are those strong one’s that could massage away any hangover or groggy morning. Overall very solid from what I’ve experienced so far.
For me to write a 5-​star review for an apartment is rare. It’s seriously as improbable as winning the $ 800 million Powerball tomorrow. Hands down the best looking and feeling apartment we’ve found in San Diego. The rent is up there in the big picture of things but very comparable, if not a bit cheaper, than other properties in the area and the amenities here are going to be hard to beat. They really went the extra mile here with making sure you are getting your money worth.
So far I’ve dealt with Rachel, Kristina and Cody and they have all been wonderful to work with. You are also a block from a grocery store, there’s a dog park across the street attached to the Quartyard bar, and lots of restaurants within a quick walk.
If you are in the market for a new place this one will impress. If you’re new to SD or looking to move here, you could definitely simplify the headache by checking this place out. Message me with any questions.

Hard to believe but my friend and I were both interested in renting an apt each in this building. It has an excellent appearance and floor plans. I’m an MD and an effective clear communicator. Our experience was so amazingly poor that we have to look past the excellent floor plan and want nothing to do with this company. I understand now how they are at 28% occupancy with a good location and offering 1 month free. I was there on site 3 times in 3 days. I spent multiple phone calls of 15 min each with the home office who continuously promised to call back and left us hanging for 4 days with nary a call back. It seems no one is in charge. No one can make any decisions. And even the front contact sales agents don’t have access to a person who can make decisions. This was so amazingly unprofessional that it is hard to believe. They have empty apartments collecting 0 revenue and I’m trying to pay $ 2000+ a month and they are UNRESPONSIVE. I’m staying in my present downtown apt and my friend is going to a better east village building. If I was a real estate investor in this building I would be so worried about my investment. If I cared about this company I would be happy to detail my experience to the executive in charge… But I know they wouldn’t want to share that persons name and I prefer to just warn the consumer. The apartments come with EV management and that was enough to scare us both away. I do eye surgery on 1 eyed patients with less stress than working with EV apt management!
Update: your answer to my review is to ask me to call you… and wait on hold again to speak to another employee who says someone will call me back? 4 different employees have my phone number… (and email) 2 sales associates in your EV building and 2 from the main office whom I’ve called. U need names? Somehow u need my number again to contact me? Don’t wait for my call. Re read my review… And don’t bother to reach out unless it’s someone who has equity in the building or reports directly to them. EV needs help… But not from me speaking to the internet marketing manager.

Another shady apartment complex. I put a deposit down on an apartment with Rachel and scheduled a move in date 10 days later. They said the background check takes about 24 hrs so I’d know if I was approved the next day. After calling them for a week and hearing from Rachel she’s not sure what’s going on I figured I was just getting the run around. So I find another place to stay then I received a call from Rachel Monday (my move in day was friday) asking if I’m still moving in? I hadn’t Recieved any approval you know the one I’d been calling you about for a week now. So I tell her no I found a place because your company obviously doesn’t have a clue and I needed a place to live. So I notice they didn’t refund my $ 400 deposit. I call in and Cody says I cancelled like 2 weeks after I applied wtf clueless. Then finally he comes back with i didn’t cancel within 48 hrs after I was notified. When I was finally notified I told Rachel I had found another place. Good luck to anybody with this place definitely starting off shady trying to keep a deposit from someone that didn’t even move in.

Ev lofts. Entirely true to they’re branding and word. After countless amounts of apartments I had seen in San Diego, EV Lofts is the one place that has a unique, industrial envirnment. All of the units are impressively clean and functional. Along with the phenomenal views from the rooftop lounge, there are plush seating, warming fire pits, BBQ pits and Televisions stationed throughout. They even have a dog park up there! Right across the street is the Courtyard, so we enjoy the music and have dinner on the weekends up there. The media room has a massive flat-​screen and an enriched sound system for entertainment. Throughout the community there are many artistic and architectural advancements for the tenants to enjoy. Lastly, the cleaning service, maintenance and office staff are extremely timely and courteous. If there is any issue at all, it’s resolved usually within minutes. My appreciation for this community is vast. I can honestly say that I love living here. If you’re looking for an upscale, industrial, home and being involved in an amazing community, then you need to check in at EV Lofts.

This is the third apartment complex for me in East Village. I just moved in and can say that EV is the best place. Shout out to Rachel who is very professional, patient and very friendly. She genuinely cares that your experience here is phenomenal. The amenities are awesome. The gym is open 24 hours — they even offer towels in the gym! I don’t have to go and throw away my trash. I just leave it outside of my door and it will magically disappear. The rooftop is huge and offers amazing views of the skyline. Every single resident and staff member here is so friendly and welcoming, and I couldn’t be happier to call EV my home.

I wanted to take a minute and write a review about the latest and greatest Oliver McMillan building in San Diego, EV Lofts. We toured this building after looking at many properties in the East Village and this is by far the best. The staff who manage this building are polite, responsive and knowledgeable. The units are spacious with great views on all sides of the building. The best amenity by far is the rooftop area. It is 10,000 square feet and includes grilling areas, fire pits and a dog park!
I would highly recommend touring this property if you are looking for THE place to live in East Village. We move in on Saturday!

Being one of the first tenants to occupy this complex, all I have to say is WOW! The facilities, the rooftop, the people who work here… all fantastic. I have been very impressed by how quickly the folks at the leasing office respond and how incredibly nice everyone has been. Finding a new place can be hard, but these guys are a part of your journey and really get that this can be a big decision and want you to make the right one. They were so patient and not pushy at all… and while this may seem extreme, really seemed like they cared. Manny, took the time to show me… I want to say 20 or so places and met with me twice before I made my decision! Thank you!!! Also, this place is immaculate (I see the cleaning crew constantly cleaning) and great for dogs. The rooftop has a private dog park that is cleaned three times a day. The neighbors so far have been very nice. There is also security at night both security guards are as friendly as can be… to the neighbors and not afraid to do their work… if you know what I mean. As for my place… I love it!!! The first floor has 16−18ft ceilings and this is a great spot for someone who wants to exercise their creativity in a loft like space. I kind of feel like I live in NYC! Loving every bit of this new home. Thank you Oliver Mcmillian for another amazing property. And thank you to all at EV lofts for making this place so amazing.
