Best dentist in San Diego! Such care with his work! Best cleaning I’ve ever received! I recommend going to Dr. Wong!

Was never a fan of going to the dentist but Dr. Wong is the exception. He doesn’t judge or lecture me which is nice compared to most other dentists. He’s gentle and very accommodating. He explains everything he is doing as he does it and likes to make me as comfortable as possible. It’s difficult finding a dentist as thoughtful as him. I have a hard time making an appointment because of work so he came early on a Saturday to do a cavity filling. He also gives electric toothbrushes which is truly amazing. I don’t think I’ll ever find a better dentist.

I had not been to the dentist in 5 years. Dr. Wong made it a smooth experience. Had a cleaning and deep cleaning done. Its nice to know an actual dentist is cleaning your teeth and not a hygentis. He does all the work. Email him and he will get back to you. His office is nice and clean, and there’s tvs on the ceiling.

I normally would not review places on Unilocal but I had to for Dr. Wong because I found him through Unilocal and he provided me excellent dental care and customer service! and, with all the 5+ stars why wouldn’t you go check it out
Before I moved to San Diego, I went to my previous dentist regularly and thought I was taking good care of my teeth but I always knew the previous dentist I had wasn’t all that great because I would still have problems like with cavities or my gums would bleed and they said it was normal (which is not)
So finally I went to Dr. Wong and after my first visit he was able to pinpoint all the problem areas using his advance technology and the next visits he took care of my teeth/​prescribed me with fast-​acting medications and also had a great recommendation to a well-​known orthodontist in San Diego.
If I could describe Dr. Wong he is: professional, very knowledgeable, really cares for his clients, punctual, organized, and I like how he is flexible with scheduling and great with communicating via email as well.
If you’re looking for a dentist in San Diego with very little to no expense (of course when you use your dental insurance), this is the dentist you need to go to.

Coming from a country where healthcare is much cheaper than the US, the price for dental procedures kept me away from regularly seeing the dentist. As such, I developed a gum disease and one day I felt like this cannot go on forever and needs to be taken care of. I tried to look for a dentist who wouldn’t charge a lot while also being honest and not pushing the patients for unnecessary procedures just to add to the bills, and here on Unilocal I found Dr. Wong and I decided to give him a try.
This is a one-​man practice, and he doesn’t have any assistants. He does everything by himself, but I don’t think this is a problem as he is very gentle and meticulous. I felt better when there’s a dentist who best knows about my condition grinding down on my teeth. I did a deep cleaning with him and it wasn’t any bit painful at all! Besides, he’s very personable so I can keep myself calm during the whole procedure.
Although the cost to me is expensive compared to my home country, I find it reasonable in a place like America, and I heard some people even had a more expensive deep cleaning with dentists in other places. He even texted me to follow whether I still feel any bit painful after the procedure or I still feel numb from the anesthetics! He really cares for his patients!
Even if you have any slightest dental problems, go see Dr. Wong, and then you can be sure that your dental/​oral health is in good hands! I would highly recommend him for everyone seeking dental care.
PS. He also gives a free electric toothbrush! I never used it before and it’s actually great to use!

I’ve been going to Dr Wong for many years, and have always had excellent results. I had to go in last week to fix some decay that had occurred under a filling done by a prior dentist, and it was typical of any visit. Though the decay was deep and he had to do significant drilling to get it all and put a modern filling in, it only took about an hour. And in another hour the numb had worn off, and there was no pain or residual discomfort at all. The fact that he is such a nice guy who truly cares about your dental health is just icing on the cake.
Now no one likes going to the dentist, but when you do have to go it does not get any better than Dr Wong. I had seen many different dentists before I was lucky enough to find him, and I would never again let anyone else touch my teeth, it’s as simple as that.

Best decision ever. I hate going to the dentist but, Dr. Wong made it bearable. Although it doesn’t seem like he has an assistant, he’s super efficient on his own and makes sure that your dental needs are met. He made scheduling really easy and even gave me a nice electronic tooth brush. YAYYY! And to top it off, he gives you great recommendations on the type of toothbrush, toothpaste, and any dental procedures you may need but does not force you into doing them.
Dr.Wong takes UCSD Ship insurance, so if you don’t have a dentist & have Ship, COME HERE!

I normally don’t review places on Unilocal but I had to this time because I had such a great experience at Dr. Wong’s office. I went to his office six months ago for a cleaning. He did a really good job cleaning my teeth. My teeth felt super nice and clean afterward!
Six months later, I went to his office again for another cleaning and he still remembered me! This time, I had my braces on, but Dr. Wong was still able to clean my teeth using special instruments. Besides cleaning and polishing, he also used pressurized stain remover that would spray sodium bicarbonate to remove stains on my teeth. My teeth looked much nicer and felt a lot smoother afterward!
Overall, Dr. Wong really cares about his patients, and he makes his patients feel very comfortable. I’ll definitely keep going to his office!
P. S. He takes UCSD SHIP insurance!

Just came for a cleaning, and had an amazing experience, there was no one waiting in the clinic, and he was fast to receive me. The clinic is clean, and Dr. Wong is very gentle, I recommend and definitely will come back.

Ernest has a one-​man practise and is surprisingly awesome. While other dental place may send you 6-​month check up reminder greeting cards, this dental practise is more earnest IMO — I call in early Friday morning for a lost filling, leave a voice mail, got a call back from Ernest himself with potential dates within 30min, even left me a cell phone number if I prefer to confirm by txt. An appointment was made for the nxt day — a Sat morning, very efficient.
The experience: Parking isn’t a problem on Sat (UCSD Healthcare building). Ernest first confirm my dental concerns, then checked the molar that need filling, few X-​rays, explained all steps during the procedure and the job was done within 1 hour. Hygiene wise, it feels awe not having dental hygienist doing the suction, cleaning and prep, but Ernest is smart in using gadgets and tools that will do the same job. He also rotates between three dental suits for each clients so to keep equipments and environment sterile.
I was charged for the back molar filling and x-​ray (I don’t have insurance), the cost is fair, as quoted and match what I found online for standard dental cost in San Diego. Recommended for the UTC area.

I walked out thinking Dr. Wong is a dental god. I’ve had dental problems my whole life – root canals, abscesses, cavities, pulled teeth – everything. I can honestly say this is the first time I didn’t feel ANY pain. He works alone but for me what matters is that it was a pain free process. Dr. Wong was super sweet and kept checking to make sure I was okay throughout the entire process. I couldn’t be happier and hope he never retires!

I don’t normally write reviews on Unilocal but Dr. Wong provided me with a top notch experience and I wanted to share. Its the least I can do for all he did for me. So here goes.
I saw Dr. Wong’s reviews on Unilocal and decided to reach out to him to see if he took HMO (he doesn’t, which turns out there seems to be no good dentists out there for HMO). We went back and forth over many emails as he explained to me the differences in HMO vs. PPO. What he didn’t know is that I was still in my election period for my benefits and I quickly changed my election to PPO and scheduled an appointment. The fact that he took the time out of his busy schedule to help somebody that most likely wasn’t going to be a client already impressed me.
Fast forward to my appointment: I had the first appointment for the day and showed up a couple minutes before Ernest. When he arrived, he already new who I was and apologized for being late (he wasn’t). We walked into his office and he already had my paperwork sitting out on the counter ready for me to fill out. I knew at this point that Dr. Wong was a very particular guy who took the time to make sure every customer has the best service possible. I expected to walk into an office with multiple people waiting and many dental assistants to check me in and start the cleaning process. It was only me and Dr. Wong for the entire hour I was there. He runs the entire practice on his own (which is great because you don’t have a dental assistant who doesn’t know what they’re doing grinding down on your teeth).
Needless to say the cleaning went on without issue. He was very thorough and didn’t seem rushed at all. He never made me feel uncomfortable at any time and did not push any products on me. Dr Wong is of a different breed! I would recommend him to anybody!

Given a choice, I would rather shoot myself in the foot then go to the dentist but since you gotta go I recommend seeing Dr. Wong. He is the most personable dentist I have ever encountered. He is gentle and explains everything that he is doing. He personally handles everything from scheduling your appointment, dealing with your insurance as well as every detail of your dental work. He personally greets you with a smile when you walk in the door and is timely and efficient and definitely makes an effort to make sure you are comfortable. Ten stars for Dr. Wong!!! He rocks!!!

I am so not a fan of going to the dentist. I mean, blood pressure skyrockets, hands get clammy, the whole phobia thing. But I realized it was time to pull up the big-​girl panties and get my teeth taken care of. I am really, really glad I went with the Unilocal reviews about Dr. Wong.
He is courteous, patient, and cares about your comfort and health. I have a lot of problems that need work and he has taken me through the procedures, always answering my questions. He makes sure the financial end works for you as well, something that I have not found at other dental offices.
At first it seemed a little odd to walk into an office that has no receptionist or hygienist, almost post-​apocalyptic in feeling (though that might be a result of my playing too many video games). But then I realized how peaceful and calm the environment is in Dr. Wong’s office. I can really relax there. He even asked me if I wanted a different channel on the big-​screen TV.
It’s completely selfish of me to say this, but I hope he never retires. Or at least not until I don’t need my teeth anymore.

I’ve came to Dr. Wong a couple times (including today) and have left happy each time. Sure, he doesn’t have an assistant to help him but from my last two visits, I barely had to wait just a few minutes as he finished up a phone call (most likely with another patient making an appointment).
He is patient and will make sure you are comfy during your visit. And he’ll give you tons of recommendations on what you should do to care for your teeth, including suggestions on which toothbrush or paste to use. Other dentists will try to offer you one thing after another to try and increase your bill but Dr. Wong doesn’t do any of this.
Parking is a breeze here and there isn’t a need to get validation as there are plenty of 1 or 2 hour visitor parking spots. Try to schedule your appointment so you can leave by 2pm so you can beat that excruciating Golden Triangle traffic…

Ever since I started working in healthcare, I do tons of research before going to any providers. I saw great reviews for Dr. Wong and chose to come here for a cleaning and Xray. And I’m glad I made that choice. I had a deep cleaning, which used analgesia, I was scared at first because my friends told me about their bad experiences with deep cleaning, but he did an extremely great job. I now trust him 100% for his professional skills.
Also, one other important thing is, he make sure that you use your insurance for the services, and pay as little as possible, which shows that he cares about patients, unlike a lot of other dentists that make you pay even more than you should.

Going to the dentist is my least favorite activity and I’m confident that others have the same view. Growing up I only went a family dentist in Michigan and continued to visit them after my move to CA. Needless to say, it was tough for me to make the move to a different dentist.
I took a long time researching new dentists to visit and sought out recommendations until I came across Dr. Wong. He being University of Michigan grad it was an easy decision as I was always a UM dental patient.
I have been extremely satisfied with all service thus far. Dr. Wong is very easy to talk to and he makes sure you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. He is extremely punctual and handles his business with great integrity. I definitely recommend Dr Wong to anyone in the San Diego area.

Dr. Wong has been my dentist for several years now and I keep going back for the following reasons; very comfortable & friendly environment, extremely diligent yet prompt service, and his rates are very reasonable which is the bottom line. A lot of people work in the UTC area — his office location is very convenient for scheduling an appointment during the work week. If you’re considering a change in the dental department, I’d look into Dr. Wong as his work has left me very pleased for two years now.

Dr. Wong is an expert and over exceed my expectations on Invisalign. =D
I ‘ve visited many other orthodontic offices and asked around to friends and co workers but no one came close to what Dr. Wong was able to offer us. He made payments so easy and down payment was reasonable. I have had my braces on for about 11 months and i will be done in 2 months. Dr. Wong’s office is comfortable area and He is so friendly, attentive, and professional. I would recommend him for anyone looking for orthodontics work.

Dr. Wong is very nice, patient and makes you feel comfortable. He explains everything and is efficient at the work he does! I have used his services for basic cleanings and fillings including a deep cleaning.
I only give 2 stars for the fact that he needs an office assistant even if part time. His front office is very unorganized and honestly needs to be cleaned. His whole practice is cluttered and dusty.
