Erika helped me at a difficult time; we had moved down to San Diego just in time to evacuate for the 2007 fires; 3 of our 4 pets had passed away due that year due to old age or illness, and I was desperately trying to help our fourth win a losing battle with cancer; we had downsized into a much smaller house and needed to compress a play room, homeschool room, and dining room into one room — and a laundry room and office and craft room into another single room. I am usually well organized but after all of that I felt exhausted and overwhelmed, unable to catch up. I was grieving the loss of our pets and didn’t really care how quickly I unpacked from our move, I was busy helping our Rhodesian Ridgeback fight bone cancer. It was an enormous help to have Erika come in and tackle two of my areas — that really helped me get my feet back under me.
Erika’s strengths are many, but what stood out in my mind was her integrity, warmth, energy, focus, and enthusiasm. She arrived on time for her first meeting with me, prepared with her portfolio and no shortage of ideas for my place. Amazingly, Erika doesn’t feel daunted when faced with a mountain of clutter, she said she feels empowered because she knows she is going to transform it. Just bringing that attitude into a client’s home is an emotional boost for the client — it rubs off! The finished product of her work always lived up to those first impressions I described.
I’m glad to have gotten to know Erika, she has become a friend. She is always nice to my kids — genuinely nice. She treats them with respect, she listens to their opinions, she doesn’t patronize them. And she does all of this while keeping up her organizing pace!
