This review is long overdue but we hired Mike for our May 2015 wedding and we were so glad we did! Mike worked with our budget (like, really worked with it, which we SO appreciated because we found many DJs to be crazy expensive) and was a true professional!
You can tell from the minute you meet him that he has a lot of experience and knows what he is doing! He arrived on time, set up seamlessly and did a great job choosing the type of music that we liked and helping to ensure the ceremony ran smoothly!
I definitely recommend Mike for your wedding or event! :-)

I am a local wedding planner, here in San Diego. My client hired Mike as their DJ, and from our first conversation to the last he was a pro. The wedding took place at the Coronado Yacht Club and it happened to be this last weekend, in which we had the San Diego monsoon. Obviously with weather not cooperating, we all needed to be on our «A» game to make this wedding a success, Mike did just that! He was flexible, and communicative, while keeping to the timeline I had previously created.
The almost every wedding attendee danced the night away, thanks to Mike setting the perfect party mood. I would be happy to work with Mike again, any time! Thanks again.

We hired Mike to DJ our wedding and I could not have been happier with our choice. He was referred by friends and also on our venue’s preferred vendor list — within the first five minutes of meeting him I knew why. He is extremely experienced, gave great advice on the timing of our event and kept all of our guests happy. He was also very easy to work with which is a must when planning a wedding. I highly recommend him for any event!

Mike Hogan was the DJ at my wedding Sept 27,2014. He was awesome. Great song choices. The dance floor was going all night long. I would not hesitate to suggest him for any event.

Mike is a fantastic DJ. He saved us from a bind when another DJ was unable (through no fault of their own) to provide their services at our wedding earlier this month. He swooped in, was very reliable and responsive, kept our evening on track as a great emcee, and had our guests dancing all night! I would highly recommend Mike as a DJ who will respect your choices, get everyone participating, give great advice, and is also the opposite of obnoxious, like some DJs are! Would use again in a heartbeat!

Mike is a true professional! He is classy and reliable. I have used Mike recently and it was a complete pleasure working with him. He kept the party going and knew his crowd. It was a fantastic experience!

We got married this past Friday at the Oceanview Room in Point Loma. Planning our wedding was stressful but having Mike there made the day fantastic!
Mike is amazing! You will be lucky to have him DJ your event. He is not only a DJ but also a wedding coordinator since he kept our timeline flowing seamlessly. If it weren’t for Mike our event would have been HECTIC!

We just had our wedding in San Diego at the Sheraton Hotel & Marina. We had guests from Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Colorado, and all parts of California. Many of the guests on the groom’s side are extremely conservative so having an event with people dancing was going to be a challenge. However, because of Mike’s easy going demeanor, selection of music, and great flow of events, he was able to get the ENTIRE party dancing within no time. Many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to and Mike played a major part in the success (from the music during the wedding ceremony to the last dance of the evening)! All I can say is, if you decide to have any event in the San Diego area, I would book DJ Mike Hogan every time!!!

Mike was the DJ for our son and daughter-​in-​laws wedding at Scripps Forum. This was a destination wedding, and 90% of the guests were from varied locations around the country. He was extremely professional and from the minute we met him (in-​laws, bride and groom, parents — all 6 of us) he made us all feel comfortable and we were all confident that he was the right person for the wedding. We never had to worry about being from out of town, he kept in touch and we knew this was one less thing we had to worry about. We can’t say enough great things about him. He kept the reception moving and on schedule. The music was great and the guests were ALL dancing. .If the next family wedding is in San Diego, Mike will be our DJ!

Mike was incredible at our wedding! I heard and read great things about him, and when my husband and I met him, we felt confident that he would do a great job. However, he exceeded all of our expectations and we couldn’t be happier with everything! He played music that was perfect for all the different crowds of people that wanted to dance, and kept everyone excited and having a great time. I got comments from multiple people saying it was the most fun they’ve ever had at a wedding, and I attribute that to Mike’s awesome sense of the crowd and great ability to MC. We hired Mike Hogan for our 07.30.2011 wedding. He did the ceremony, the reception, and the lighting. He is FANTASTIC. I would recommend him to anyone, having any type of party, anytime, anywhere. He is friendly, professional, not annoying whatsoever (hate to say it but many DJ’s are), and really in touch with the hit songs of today. He also did a great job mixing it up — our dance floor stayed full. My father and I had several people approach us at the wedding and tell us it was the best one they’ve been to yet and I credit Mike and my wedding coordinator with this. He also did the lighting which turned out amazing. Hire him — you won’t regret it!

Mike is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Our first meeting left me feeling like everything was under control and that he would do everything he could to make our wedding amazing. He made sure to play every song we requested, and did what every DJ SHOULD do: make the wedding fun, keep everything going, and not turn his time at the microphone into a comedy routing. He got everyone’s attention when he needed to, but made sure the people that were supposed to be in the «spotlight» were.
I scoured the city looking for DJs, and Mike’s prices are within the «middle» range, but well, WELL worth it. Other DJs charge twice as much, but with Mike you get MUCH more than your money’s worth.
I couldn’t have asked for more. Whenever I called he immediately remembered who I was, and he was always friendly, comforting and awesome to talk to. He’s absolutely hilarious, too.
He was a pleasure to work with, and he went above and beyond his call of duty. He even sent us a card and pictures he had taken after the wedding!
If you’re looking for a DJ for your wedding, Mike is the guy to go to. You will not be disappointed.

Mike is one of the few DJs I have been around who does not irritate me… he is almost invisible, and yet he manages to keep the dancefloor packed and the reception flowing perfectly.
I was planning an entire wedding in less than six months, so I basically left the details up to the vendors, and DJ Mike was one who blew me away with his professionalism and skill. We literally gave him a «Do Not Play» list and a short rundown of what kind of atmosphere we were hoping for him to create at our wedding ceremony and reception and he did the rest.
The music he chose for our wedding cocktail hour (Frank Sinatra, Norah Jones, etc.), dinner (amazing Spanish guitar) and dancing (everything from old hip hop like Vanilla Ice and The Beastie Boys to ragaeton and salsa to country!) were fabulous and Mike did an incredible job of keeping songs from our «Do Not Play» list far from our eardrums.
Also, to be noted: When my uncle gave a pre-​dinner toast, he suggested that we pass the mic around and let others who toast tell a story about my new-​husband and I. Within a second, DJ Mike Hogan had politely explained that would not be possible (as my husband and I breathed a sigh of relief) because «the chef would kill» him (when, in reality, I had told Mike that we did not want drunken toasts to carry on!).
He literally avoided what could have been a disaster without missing a beat (DJ pun intended) and our tipsy guests got to keep their stories to themselves. (Seriously, who wants to have endless toasts on video from drunk wedding guests?!)
Crisis averted — DJ Mike saved the day!
Seriously, if you need a professional, hip, talented — and NOT OBNOXIOUS! — DJ for a wedding, party or any social event, I would recommend him a million times over. He is on the list of preferred vendors for places including the Hotel Del, and he has a side business making fresh party donuts… COME ON! Who doesn’t love fresh donuts and good music?
