Enigma Professional Piercing Studio

My sisters and I have been coming here for the last 10 years and I had high hopes. I live up in the Bay Area and waited to get my septum pierced until I could come back here. Sadly, it was pierced too high, too far back, and crooked, making it impossible to flip the retainer down and impossible to replace it with a ring (as I was looking forward too). I was told that it should straighten out in the healing process, but when I went to a different studio, I was informed that this isn’t something that happens. This other studio was surprised this happened to me at Enigma, as they have a great reputation. I don’t live in SD and won’t have the opportunity to have this corrected.

Last night I brought my daughter in to get her ears pierced. She was 7 years old and very nervous. She had a million questions and some tears before Oscar was able to get her piercing done. He was patient and took all the time she needed to answer her questions and most of all, he waited until SHE was ready, not when I was ready. He wanted to make sure that she was 100% certain she wanted this and waited to hear her say ok. I appreciated that he wanted to respect her feelings and needs. Ultimately she went for it and found it to be easy and painless. She was so happy afterwards. Oscar did an amazing job and made us feel very comfortable. Jered was also as kind as could be. One of the most friendly piercing places I have ever been into. I would highly recommend if you are thinking about your first ear piercing, do NOT go to Claire’s or some other place in the mall where the people have had limited training. Go to a place like Enigma that does this every day for a living. I’d chose Oscar’s 19 years of experience over the 16 year old with a 20 minute instructional piercing video knowledge any day. As soon as my friend and I walked in on a Friday afternoon we were kindly greeted and helped right away with what we wanted to get (for me a nose piercing and my friend was getting her earlobes pierced for the first time). Chris was our piercer and he was awesome! He was hilarious, knowledgeable, and talented at piercing! He made sure our piercings went as smoothly as possible and told us in detail what the aftercare would be. This is an awesome place to go if you want a piercing: everyone here is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly!

After getting my ears pierced when I was five years old at Claire’s with a gun, this was my first piercing experience.
I have a low pain tolerance threshold, but Both Chris and Shane made my experience so great. My sister and I both got our noses pierced. Chris was friendly and made me feel comfortable and gave a detailed description of the procedure of aftercare. It was less painful than threading eyebrows is for me.
The only downside was the price: it cost around ~$ 80 for the saline solution, nose stud, and piercing cost. However, because the nose ring is a titanium stud that I’ll be wearing for at least six months if not more, it’s worth it. Let’s hope my sensitive skin remains happy and heals well. :)

AMAZING. Evan has swapped out my jewelry before and he recently did my nipples. Clean, humorous, educating, quick and painless. He went over everything with me one by one. Asked for my opinion once the markings were in place and when the needle went through I did’t even feel it. Needless to say I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a great experience with any sort of piercing or jewelry replacement. WONDERFUL! They are pricier but you get what you pay for and you get it in the best quality (people and products).

This place is so over rated — my rook OVER TWO years to heal! I have 7 other ear piercings (not from enigma) and all of them healed earlier than normal. When I got my nose pierced (I avoided enigma after the rook fiasco) my piercer told me my rook had not been pierced properly, that it was at a strange angle and that’s why it took so long.
Also I don’t like the vibes of this place. The staff were snobby and by the end of the visit I was fed up with their «holier-​than-​thou» attitude. Considering how much the rook costs (both money and healing time), I wish I had gone somewhere else

Mark was very nice and honest with me. I wanted a particular piercing that wouldn’t quite work with my anatomy and rather than let me get it and have it reject he told me he didn’t think it was best, and I decided to go with something else. He talked me through it step by step, explaining everything from start to finish. He made me feel very comfortable despite the fact that he was a stranger putting a needle in my genitals.

Got my nostril pierced. It was quick and easy. A good, professional experience. It is a tad on the expensive side, but really no complaints.

Adam Richins pierced my left inverted nipple (yes, my right nipple is normal) and the experience couldn’t have been any better. I’ve been contemplating on getting it pierced for almost 3 years now not only to fix the problem, but because I thought it’d look good.
Initially I went to Enigma on Adams Ave couple months ago and the piercer there said he couldn’t do it because there wasn’t enough skin (somewhere along the lines of that) and that the piercing would reject. I was bummed because I thought it wasn’t possible, but his explanation didn’t make sense the more I thought about it. I also researched other people’s experiences with inverted nipple piercings and most say it is possible unless it can’t come out at all (Inverted Nipple Grade 3). To be honest, he looked unsure and he may not have as much experience with them. Knowing Enigma has a good rep with piercings, I decided to give this location a shot. Luckily, I was informed that my piercer Adam has experience with inverted nipples. In fact, he stated that he pierced his fiancé’s inverted nipples which made me feel confident that he knew exactly what he was dealing with. He took a look at mine and said that the only way to properly correct is vertical, which had me surprised. I never thought about having it vertical, but I went ahead and did it. I honestly think the vertical piercing suits me best.
Enigma makes sure the piercings are sterile and gives instructions on after care on paper as well as explaining it thoroughly in person. Overall, I am super pleased! I got ice cream afterwards to celebrate.

Amazing professional service. When I was younger, I never realized the difference between going to a piercing shop and going to a little kiosk at the mall. Now I recommend all my friends to go here or at least a professional place.
The staff is so friendly and they make sure that you understand every thing they do and why. There are so many steps to getting a piercing and they walk you through it.
I first got my lip done here and I felt comfortable the whole time. It didn’t even hurt. After weeks and months with my lip ring in, I started experimenting with new jewelry and have found out the the ones here are the best quality and the comfiest for the back of my lip. I will never get lip jewelry anywhere else!

So. Been wanting to get my septum pierced for a while now. Finally built up enough courage to get it done. Walked in, hella nervous and was greeted right away. He was very patient while I was stalling trying to decide if I wanted to go through with it or not. Lol.
Signed the paperwork, picked out my jewelry and waited for it to be sterilized. Adam was the piercer who did my septum. He was very calm, explained everything that was going to happen and reassured me. It was done within a few minutes. And the pain wasn’t bad at all. The price was well worth the experience. I have 2 piercings in each ear and got the 3^rd ones done today by Mike. He was super friendly and knew his stuff! He was also very patient with me wanting to move the marked spots up or down before piercing.
Felt spontaneous when I woke up and Unilocaled this place. My other ear piercings were previously done by piercing guns. I decided not to let another 17 year old mall worker play piercing artist this time. It was on the pricy side to me ($ 60 in jewelry for plain studs, $ 25 for the piercing job, and then add tax). I didn’t feel like searching for anything cheaper and just went for it haha oh well. Very happy with how clean and professional this studio was. I highly recommend this place and I plan on coming back for future piercings I have in mind :)

Went back for a piercing this time (septum). Evan cracked jokes and made me feel right at ease. It was inexpensive enough, they had more elaborate jewelry that reached on the higher end of costs, that’s for sure. But the jewelry is always quality and who can put a price on that.
Like always, highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a piercer.

Enigma continues to amaze me with their piercing service. My roommates and I talked about getting our cartilages pierced all year long and finally decided to get them done over summer. My cartilage piercing from last time actually pussed up and were swollen so I had to let them close. I brought my old earring in (which I bought here) and they gladly said they would sterilize it and only charge the piercing service. We had to wait an hour, while other customers who came in after us left pretty soon after, but I assume that was due to the sterilization process for my earring. I did not like the front guy who was working, however, as his «know-​it-​all» attitude was not friendly.
On the actual piercing itself, Adam pierced my cartilage on the exact spot it was previously pierced at because he deemed it was not too scarred to pierce it again. One difference since my last experience is that they no longer pierce and give you the loop earring anymore because it doesn’t heal as well as the straight earrings.

My 15 year old wanted her belly button pierced and Enigma was my 1^st choice based on the excellent Unilocal reviews.
We got there right at 8:25p and Marissa greeted us and had Adam come out and inspect to see if he was able to pierce my daughter’s belly button. Once he said he could, my daughter picked out her jewelry straight away, handed it over to Adam so he could sterilize the jewelry and needle along with the test strip indicating that both had been thoroughly sterilized.
Marissa inspected both mine and my daughter’s ids and had her and I fill and sign paperwork. Adam also went over aftercare instructions with both of us and went through step by step with us what to expect with the piercing process. After the jewelry and needle were sterilized, he washed his hands and then marked the area on my daughter’s belly button where the piercing was going while she was standing. Once that was done we had her lay down and went through a breathing exercise with her before he performed the piercing and also told her it would be over in a blink, and he was right. He told us to come back in 6 – 8 weeks and call with any questions, problems or concerns. Marissa handed us a detailed after care sheet of paper, we paid and were on our way. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes.
Marissa and Adam were very professional and helpful. The piercing shop was extremely clean and organized. We are definitely coming back here again and requesting Adam to get my daughter’s industrial and seconds done.
I highly recommend this place to bring your child to get pierced, make sure you don’t forget to bring proper identification if your child is below 18 and when in doubt, always call.

I got my nose pierced here a couple days ago and the whole expierence was great. The man who pierced me was super friendly and informative of the whole process. He also was very reassuring and just wonderful! Their selection of jewelry is incredible… they have just about anything you could ever imagine. I would definitely recommend!

My sister’s 7 year old daughter wanted to get her ears pierced so after looking on Unilocal,we decided to take her here.
Staff was really professional and very nice. My niece was nervous but the staff here really eased her. Evan was the one who did her piercing and he made her feel safe and comfortable.
My niece got her ears pierced within 15 minutes of arriving. There was one other customer before us but the wait wasn’t too long.
Evan was really informative about the whole procedure. We are very pleased with the service here. My 7 year old niece walked out with a big smile on her face and she said the piercing didn’t hurt at all! Totally worth the $ and it’s very sanitary here. I’d recommend this place over shops that do piercing with piercing guns.

Honestly the best experience I have ever had! Adam was so thorough in explaining everything. He made me feel completely comfortable and Shain was so welcoming and kind. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The place was more sterile than a hospital, I swear! These guys deserve 10 stars, couldn’t have been more pleased.

I have a very low pain tolerance.
That being said, I really wanted a nose piercing. I had gotten my ears pierced earlier that year at an icing with a needle gun. They say your first piercing in your ears is what hurts the least. My first ear piercings hurt a lot. For facial piercings, using a needle is an absolute must, and the thought of having someone else pierce my body with a needle, nevermind my face was a definite no-​no for me.
That changed when one day I decided to go with my gut and get my nose piercing. I looked up nearby places, and the first place with extremely consistent 5-​star ratings was Enigma. I’m glad I found this place.
My piercer was calm and super helpful. I laid down on a doctor’s office type bed/​chair and had a mask over my face with only my nose area exposed. My piercer told me to inhale, and on the exhale he would pierce my nose. I felt almost no pain at all (maybe a little pinch when my nose was pierced). My friend vouched for this, and said I flinched a little when I was pierced. Afterwards, they gave me an instructions card and verbal instructions to clean my nose piercing with saline solution.
My piercing healed fast, and didn’t infect. If I ever decide to get another piercing, I’m definitely coming back here!

I came here for my first piercing ever.
And of course, I picked a helix/​cartilage piercing.
I honestly forgot who did my piercing, all I remember is he was extremely helpful. He helped me pick out which ear to pierce (one of my ears has a cool ridge that fits the piercing perfectly).
These guys are true professionals. They love piercings and they’ll give you their honest opinion about what will work and what won’t for you. My friend wanted a nape piercing and they explained everything about it — from little things you wouldn’t think about like, how am I going to wear necklaces now? Will it interfere with XYZ? Everything you choose, they explain in great detail for you about the choice you’re about to make.
They tell you what’s going to happen before it happens so you’re prepared. I don’t even remember it being painful. It was quick and easy. The only painful part might have been inserting the earring, but it was over quickly. They also provided us with a care kit (some salt and instructions).
I honestly don’t remember the breakdown of prices but I ended up forking over $ 50 with tip which honestly isn’t very bad. These guys are professionals and I’d come back to them for any piercing.
