Emalyn D Hair and Makeup

Emalyn has been my go-​to hair person for almost 7 years now. From cuts to color, her expertise has always been on point. She has also done my makeup a few times for family photos and special events and her talent has made me feel so beautiful with the work that she does on me.

I asked Emalyn to do my hair and makeup for my recent wedding. She did an amazing job and I received SOO many compliments!
I have very small/​slanted Asian eyes and it’s hard to find somebody who has experience working with these type of features. Emalyn did a beautiful job and my pictures look amazing. My wedding day was hot (95 °F!) but both my makeup and hair stayed in place the entire day and night. Emalyn also did my BFF’s hair and that came out beautifully!
I’m so happy that I found her and hope to work with her again!

Emalyn is going to be my new hairstylist. My main focus is that I want to find someone who knows how to work with Asian hair. Asian hair is stubborn but Emalyn did a great job today. My highlights came out perfectly and my haircut was stellar!
I’m really happy that I found her and will probably come back because she’s super friendly and she’s good at what she does.
I was able to snag a groupon so my haircut and highlights were reasonably priced.
She works at a salon in Carmel Mountain and another in Mission Hills.

Emalyn did an awesome job on my hair cut & partial highlights. I actually scored a pretty sweet Groupon deal for her other location in Carmel Mtn, but due to my schedule, she was able to fit me in at her Mission Hills location. I cut about 6+ inches, so it was pretty drastic. I started off by showing some pics I found on Pinterest and shared with her what I was looking for. She started with the highlights, I baked for awhile, then she added toner (which made the color look almost caramel — so gorgeous!). Then, she went in for the cut. She did a fantastic job and checked in with me before any major snips (short in the back, my bangs, and buzzing the hair on the back of my neck).
Very pleased with both the cut and the color; the cherry on top is that she is so friendly and personable! I definitely plan to see her again, when it’s time to get my hair did!

Emalyn is awesome! Very professional & courteous. She gave my boring hair life! She’s amazing, a true artist. Love my red hair !!! Will definitely be back to see her.

Emalyn did it again!!!
She did my daughter’s hair for her 1^st Communion! She looked stunning! As soon as we got the date for the communion I contacted Emalyn, I knew there was nobody else I could trust for my little girl’s special day!!!

This review is super late but I figure better late than never.
I met Emalyn through my husband a couple years back. Although I already had a really good relationship with a stylist, I decided to give her a try since her location was 2 blocks from my house.
Emalyn is SUPER COOL. Not only does she listen to exactly what you want, she executes it perfectly.
She has now done my wedding hair, bridesmaid makeup, and cuts my son’s hair. She is also AMAZING with kids.
She is flexible with scheduling, too!

Emalyn is very talented at what she does! She is great to talk to as well. We both have little kids so it’s nice to talk to someone and share similar stories. Emalyn is super talented with what she does. She works on a lot of women in regards to make up and hair but she can also work with men’s hair. I’m the most picky and self-​conscious person I know when it comes to how my hair looks but I feel safe and comfortable when I go to Emalyn for haircuts. Emalyn is an amazing hair stylist!!! My hair is definitely the flat and boring type and she always brings life to it. I’ve been using her for years and have traveled around with her to her many locations. If you’re thinking about using her, definitely do it!

Emalyn has been doing my hair (color, cut, and style) for over a year. My natural hair color is black and and she was able to transition it to a nice blonde. I’ve been wearing it blonde for over a year now and I constantly get compliments on the color. I always just give her a brief description of how I want my cut and she automatically knows what I want. I’m a high maintenance girl and trust me when I say you will be more than elated after you have Emalyn do her magic. Finding a stylist that you trust and can have a nice conversation with is hard to find. I won’t go to anyone else.

When I wanted to go from blonde to Rhianna red I called Em and she made it happen!!! She is the greatest and I’m glad she is all in with my crazy hair color choices (my current color is a mix of magenta and 2 shades of purple). I highly recommend Em for all things hair!

Emalyn rocks! She did my bridal hair and makeup. You will not be disappointed and you will be impressed at your trial. I guarantee it. She offers airbrush makeup and it lasts! She also did an amazing job with my Sister-​in-​laws hair and makeup. She made my sister’s short hair look she had long hair in an updo style. I wish we were back in San Diego! No one in Hawaii compares! She is my forever go to for hair and makeup. Her prices are not bad compared to other freelance artists.

Emalyn is amazing! She did hair and makeup for me, my mother in law, and my sister in law (and bridesmaid) at my wedding. She also did my mom’s makeup at the last minute.
She did a beautiful job on everyone she worked with for my wedding– and it lasted all day and night! The airbrush foundation is smooth and natural looking, and doesn’t get all gross when you dance your booty off at the wedding. Our hairstyles were exactly what we wanted, and didn’t fall or come undone while we boogied. I would definitely recommend her for BOTH hair and makeup.
Best of all, Emalyn is super sweet– which made it so much fun to have her part of our getting ready festivities!
