Elite Event: Puesto At The Headquarters

The memory of this event haunts my best dreams! It was one of my favorite Elite events of all time! I can’t decide if the food or the staff was better… they were both ridiculously leaps and bounds above «good.» I have a cilantro allergy, which makes eating Mexican food a challenge. However, our server at Puesto acted like it was no issue whatsoever. Every time a new taco was passed out, she bought one for each of us and made sure I had one free of cilantro. Epic!
My favorite taco was the filet; I loved the tender meat and nice balance of sauce. The chicken al pastor and lobster were great too. Thanks Puesto for making all of the Elites feel like true VIPs that night! The drinks were flowing and everyone working had a smile on their face. I love the historic location and have already been back once for dinner with my out-​of-​town family!

La tarde se fue entre buena plática, deliciosas y refrescantes Palomas, deliciosos tacos, desabrocho de botones para poder comer más manjares que nos seguían trayendo y para finalizar la gran tarde un rico y cremoso flan acompañado de horchata congelada!!! Quien haya pensado en congelar horchata es un genio! Lo más increíble es que después de deleitar mi paladar hasta el punto de reventar mi pantalón, al salir del evento fuimos despedidos con fruta fresca! Mil gracias a puesto y les deseo lo mejor!
Oh yeah if you can’t read this, then it means you didn’t eat enough tacos at Puesto. If my words don’t make a single bit of sense and it’s in a completely different language then you need to eat tacos at Puesto until you can read it! Anyway, never been to Seaport Village, and so this was my first time. Seaport Village is a great place for visitors and eating/​shopping! It’s beautiful and classy. Puesto got a good location. Place is huge.
Food-​amazing! I normally don’t prefer fish ceviche, but their fish ceviche was so good. I love the sourness of it and big fish chunks… which don’t have that nasty fish taste in your mouth. I love elites only events because you get to actually try the food! No plus ones to guard the kitchen door and everything that comes out…
Drinks-​strong. Tacos-​great! Love how they have that cheese layer and the meat in the middle… too bad I’m lactose intolerant and had to peel off the cheese. It was still very tasty!
Yet another great event!

Elbows out, eyes up, napkins poised — when I heard there was a taco party in the works, I knew I had to get in on some of that action! And tacos there were. Like some sort of Mexican, margarita fueled nirvana, Puesto seriously stepped up their game. Lobster, filet, veggie and chick, I was seriously impressed by their little bites of taco heaven.
And what? They’re making the tortillas in house! I wouldn’t have believed it until I saw it with my own eyes — and tasted the fruits of their labor — so good. Corn all the way baby. And when I didn’t think it could get any better, horchata and flan?!
Yep, they definitely know the way to a girls heart. That and the fact they put avocado on everything. Not stingy at all, I would have assumed they had their own grove growing on the roof at the way they were pushing it out of the kitchen. Touché! I tap out. JK. More please. And gauc! And fruit street cups to go!
After the meat Festivus/​LunchcomaGate that was Fogo de Chao, I didn’t think the elites could have it any better. Puesto proved me wrong. To the victor goes the crown, and in this case, the crown is made of tacos and my dignity.

It’s definitely SWEET to be Elite! In this case, spicy and savory too!
This was my very first Unilocal Elite event, and I must say, I was not expecting this! It was amazing, and I was definitely spoiled! Puesto went above and beyond making this event top notch! The bar has been set high and I can no longer see it in the sky!
A casual beginning… I was weary of not knowing anyone, and strolled in with a warm «Welcome to your first Elite event!» As I looked around everyone was already seated into groups and well into conversations and tacos galore! I took an empty seat at the bar and was welcomed by two other Elites, sipping on their hosted beer. Looking at the menu, highlighted were the evenings featured items.
Puesto didn’t miss a thing! For starters you were greeted with a generous serving of your personal choice of guacamole or ceviche. I chose the guacamole! The selection of drinks, Puesto perfect Margarita, Frozen Horchata, and a selection of beer. SWEET!
Bring on the Tacos! These didn’t stop coming! Chicken Al Pastor, Rajas, Filet Mignon, and then finally the Lobster! Hot and on handmade tacos, the contents were uniquely wrapped in crispy melted cheese! I personally was looking forward to the Filet Mignon and the Lobster tacos. The Filet Mignon taco didn’t disappoint, and by far, my favorite! The Lobster taco was good, slightly overcooked, definitely deserves another visit! Another tasty surprise, I don’t usually bring on the heat, and to others this is nothing, but it was SPICY!
The yummy goodness didn’t stop there! Large and small snifters filled with frozen Horchata were served and O.M.G… where have you been all my life! I will come back for this alone! This was well balanced, sweet with a touch of cinnamon. Slices of flan, then circled around yes, this was worth waiting for… SAVORY!
All good things must come to and end, and upon exiting, you were given a fruit cup! This was a nice added touch.
The Unilocal Elite committee, made sure to have all their T’s crossed and I’s dotted… as I was exiting the Seaport parking lot… waiting in a very long line. There was an attendant helping making the exiting process smoother. That was one of the most efficient exits I have encountered. With minutes before I was going to be charged another 20 minutes pricing, it was smooth, and at least 6 car were able to pay and exit within a couple of minutes. Expecting to pay the $ 3 with the provided validation, I was ready with my cash. Instead I didn’t have to pay a thing! «Thank you and Goodnight!» Yes, it was!

Oh yes it was taco night and the feeling was so right! Oh yes it was taco night, oh what a night!
Oh what a night indeed! Palomas and Ceviche and Tacos, oh my! We were drowning in them!
Once they brought out the first round of delicious Chicken Al Pastor tacos I knew I was in trouble. They were so full of flavors and textures and cheesy awesome yumminess it was hard to stop at just one. After the second round (Cactus and Zucchini) hit the table, I felt certain I’d never make it to the end. Yet another completely different but equally amazing combination of flavors and textures, it was impossible to take the ‘just a couple bites’ I’d promised myself…
This is the point where I began wondering how I would ever make it through the lobster and filet rounds… while still munching on the freshest most flavorful ceviche which I just couldn’t put down for the life of me.
Somehow (empowered by supernatural forces of deliciousness) I was able to make it through the next two rounds… The most tender filet mignon embraced lovingly in a blanket of crispy cheese and topped with a deliciously spicy horseradishy sauce… And if the final round had been anything BUT buttery lobster perfection topped in savory fried onions, there is no way I could have had more than a bite… but since it WAS, I channeled my mutant ability to eat and finished the whole thing. OINK!
Later, the rest of the table was aghast when I said ‘no thank you’ to the frozen horchata… so I tempted fate and asked for a small cup… Which again, if it had been anything less than frozen-​heaven-​in-​a-​glass, I would not have been able to finish… but it was, so I did.
Jazmin and Michael had to roll me into the ubercab and put up with ‘pregnant with a taco baby’ jokes the whole way home… that was the most full I’ve been in… maybe forever? And this little piggy can EAT, so that’s saying something! I am quite certain that their Mix and Match 3 for $ 11 taco deal will be PLENTY of food for me when (not if!) I bring my boyfriend there to try these tacos himself. He already feels like he knows them intimately with as much as I’ve been raving about them in the past few days.
The staff at this event were incredible… we ended up in the back corner where we could find two tables together under the heaters, and even though we were out of the way, we had more drinks and food than we could possibly eat or drink flowing our way. It’s obviously they love where they work — as I would too if I worked in one of the most delicious places in the city. :D
Puesto was so generous with their amazing offerings that I can’t wait to repay their hospitality with my loyal patronage.
I almost want to go back and take one star off all my other event reviews just so this one can stand out! Can we have a 6^th star just for this event, Brad? :D
Thanks again to Puesto and to the organizers for putting on such an amazing evening and for including me in the festivities again. I had a blast.

This event was over 24 hours ago and I think I’m still full. Wait, maybe cos I had my takeaway fruit bowl for brunch the next day! So clutch.
I had such an awesome time, mostly cos other elites ROCK! I didn’t really know anyone and was immediately adopted by the lovely Jeremiah, Faye and Peijean. Freaking friendly elites, staff and of course the owners!
I loved that I was brought the horchata and flan early, as I basically am a child and can’t wait for dessert. (Also I had eaten my fill of veggie food and didn’t want to watch others still eating the non-​stop flow of carnivorish tacos, lol!)
Flan was AMAZING! never had such creamy, yummy goodness. Mmm want MORE!

Brad knows how to party! I couldn’t believe how much food was at this sit-​down, Elite only event. Upon entering Puesto, we were greeted with stiff margaritas and beers. We found our seats and were quickly approached by servers offering us guacamole and ceviche. The guacamole was delicious! The ceviche was a bit too spicy for my taste. Next up were the tacos. They all had a different, unique flavor. But the winning dish of the night — the frozen horchata!
I really liked the ambiance at Puesto. The bar is big and bright with an entire wall of liquor. There’s al fresco seating and plenty of umbrellas and heat lamps to keep you comfortable. The inside is sleek with a rustic yet modern charm.

Puesto means «place» in Spanish, and last night’s Unilocal Elite Event at Puesto Downtown was definitely —THE PLACE — to be! Brad B. and his crack team of Unilocal Elite handlers (including the always fetching Ms. Estefany) did another amazing job!
Unilocal Elite Events are always a great time! But what I can’t understand is how our beloved community manager manages to make them better and better. This was definitely one of the best events I have ever attended, and definitely one of the best organized!
A lot of the credit goes to Ryan and his team at Puesto. Their professionalism and dedication to providing a fabulous dining experience was unquestioned. Of course, it’s easier when the food and drink being served is other worldly. I’m hardly a vegan, or a vegetarian, or even a flexitarian, but I dearly loved the rajas tacos. These big, flavorful mouthfuls contain crispy melted cheese, roasted poblano peppers, sweet corn, oyster mushrooms, avocado, and tomatillo salsa. I could eat them all nite! Matched up with the Puesto perfect margarita, and you have a dining experience, bar none. Definitely some of the finest margaritas, and tastiest tacos, in town!
As Melanio F. says, a lot of the fun at these events is socializing. And he’s right, it’s great to see all the familiar faces and make a few new friends! As far as I know, Unilocal is the only International social network where people actually meet face-​to-​face. What a concept!
I’ve dined at Puesto before, and will definitely be returning soon. And I can only wonder what amazing event Brad has up his sleeve for the next elite get-​together.

When I’m greeted with a stiff margarita at an event, I know I’m in for a good time. Brad, you put together another amazing Elite only event! I was able to try all of the tacos and they were quite filling. My favorite was the filet mignon. I mean. who doesn’t like filet mignon?
Always a great time when there’s good food, stiff drinks, awesome Unilocalers, and a great staff serving us. Thanks Puesto for hosting us and stuffing us. Thanks Brad for always making these events better every time!

I can’t wait to come back to Puesto. I was a fan of the La Jolla location, but this one has my heart now, located in this beautiful Headquarters site, so spacious, so pretty, so nicely decorated with that mix of fuchsia and orange, so distinct and different from any ‘taco shop’. Puesto is the place to hang out during these breezy Spring nights, devouring these delicious tacos and having tequilas or craft beer.
Thanks for such an amazing event last night. I could not believe my eyes every time that a gracious server came to our patio table (we were 4 chatty Unilocalettes blabling non-​stop and unbottoning/​unzipping the skinny jeans because, honestly, the food generosity was in full splendor.
My favorite drink was that Paloma mix of reposado tequila with grapefruit juice, OMG that was heaven. Perfect match for the non-​stop coming abundantly filled tacos. The mahi-​mahi ceviche would have been enough for me as dinner, but could not resist the temptation to try everything that was put into my face and I surely used those beautifully crafted in English rustic plates. Again, this is not your Alberto’s, Roberto’s or Pepito’s, with all the due respect. Here you got so much style packed in this cute boxy place.
In between bites and sips, my friend Natalya and I went to inspect the area: wonderfully painted mural (perfect for several selfies, singular and plural), say hi to many friends and newbies, check those über cool lamps and observe with admiration the kitchen work, incessant and immaculate. Loved everything and enjoyed every single minute there… and what a nice send off to regal us with some chunky pieces of fruit with salt and spices. Can’t wait!!!

PUESTO! AAAAAAAAAA YAYAYAYAYAAAAAA!!!
What a beautiful venue! I was expecting something similar to their La Jolla location, but this spot totally blew me away. I love the open concept kitchen, bar, heated patio, and upper deck. Lots of space — much more than the one in LJ.
We were greeting with cocktails and chips and salsa on the table. The restaurant is nicely decorated with flavor and colors. LOVE! The food kept coming out and the staff was very helpful in getting tacos for everyone. I tried the guac, mahi mahi ceviche, and all the tacos. My fave was the filet taco with guac. MMMMMMMMMM!!!
The desserts did it for me. I really liked the flan and the frozen horchata. What a perfect way to end the night. I took home the fruit since I was so stuffed!
Thanks Puesto for being such good hosts to us. Your staff did excellent in keeping up the great service for all the Elites! Very friendly and personable.

Brad killed it again with another epic event. There was just never a dull moment. I thought that I was impressed by the La Jolla location, this location even tops that! Larger, more spacious, great atmosphere, outstanding staff and amazing food.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Filet Mignon Tacos were outstanding! If I could have raided the kitchen and taken 20 of these things all for myself, I would have… I should have. Easily the best tacos in my opinion. The Rajas & Chicken Al Pastor were excellent as well but something about the spice and beef that just overshadowed them.
Horchata and Flan? Yes please. Seconds please. Yeah those were a little too easy to overindulge in so I did!
Anyway, I spent the evening eating and socializing with good company, was spoiled by both a great staff as well as an awesome CM. It was a good night.
Major gratitude to Puesto and their staff, Brad and Estefany and all my friends who shared the table with me, shared what they didn’t eat and didn’t get upset when I ate all the chips. You guys are just too cool. I’ll see you all at the next one.

«Oh my god bury me in that,» said Mercy B when she tasted the amazing frozen Horchata. Our table was awash in Tequila and beer all night. Generous servers brought us new drinks before we were empty. Ceviche appeared while we were still munching on guacamole and chips. Tacos vanished like magic, but I swear that Jeb and Mercy and Vin and I couldn’t have wolfed down 4 tacos each? It’s impossible! It’s miraculous! Chicken and lobster and filet mignon and Rajas tacos were delivered to our table as if we were the only people in this beautiful laughing crowd of Taco Lovin’ Elites!
The bartenders were generous with the tequila, and the Puesto perfect margarita was my favorite drink, with maestro dobel tequila, lime & agave.
It’s cool that they make their own tortillas at Puesto, and since the design is an open kitchen, you can watch the food being prepared if you wish.
Puesto on West Harbor Dr. near Seaport Village is a gorgeous and spacious place for A Unilocal Elite event. It’s also a fantastic place to celebrate with friends & family, and I can’t wait to return!
The staff at this Puesto location is outstanding, and the attentive staff plus the pre-​planning and organization made this one of the most impressive elite events I’ve attended anywhere! Many thanks to the owner, the staff, and to Brad, our beloved Unilocal CM, for the privilege of being invited to this Elite event at Puesto. Estefany, we appreciate you too.
It was terrific having the time to bond with Mercy and Jeb as we feasted at our table at Puesto. Our servers were so attentive, and Mercy and Jeb and Vin were so entertaining that I had to abandon my lobster taco reluctantly so that I could mingle with other cool Elites as well. All of you are what makes San Diego the best Unilocal community.

I am SO STUFFED. It’s amazing that I’m not rolling around as I type right now.
This event was amazing. There was no shortage of food whatsoever and I loved the fact that we didn’t have to go around looking for food. They came to us and served us each of their dishes. My favorite taco was hands down the filet mignon followed by the chicken al pastor. I’m not a veggie kind of person, but I finished the rajas taco as well. Everything was so yummy I couldn’t help myself. The other dish I just couldn’t get enough was the ceviche. I probably could have eaten that ceviche all night aside from that filet mignon taco. The frozen horchata was also a really nice end to the night. I grabbed the Mexican street cup and it’s currently sitting in my fridge calling out to me. Honestly, I liked all the foods a lot. I couldn’t stop munching on the chips and guacamole, which is probably why it hurts to breathe a little.
Everyone was so friendly and I loved the airy feeling of the restaurant. It was very spacious and we had so much room to move around and socialize. Another great elite event!
Thank you Brad and all the staff at Puesto for making this happen. I had a wonderful time and will come back the next time I’m in the area!

The service was top notch. Tasha was the best!!! My belly hurts from the food. I wasnt expecting a sit down meal, just nibbles. And dang… my bellly kinda feels like it might explode. Then to walk out the door only to be handed a fruit cup. I had a few pieces of fruit and was SO full from the tasty tacos n such that I had to share my fruit cup with a stranger on the street. (I must. look trustworthy to the stranger– hasn’t she heard dont accept candy or fruit from strangers?! LOL)
Hats off to. Puesto’s staff and the. Unilocal organizers. Amazing night.
As usual it was good to say HI to my fellow Unilocalers and hang out. some I got to chat with more than others.

Taco Tuesday? Nope, it’s Monday and I can eat them any day of the week. I love tacos. Tacos tacos tacos. So many creative ways to elevate this humble, portable, street snack. Beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, fish, calamari, shrimp, lobster, veggie, potaco… the possibilities are endless. That, along with garden fresh toppings, delicious melty cheese, and don’t forget some spicy salsa.
It’s pretty cool that they redeveloped the old police headquarters with a good mix of restaurants and retail shops while preserving some history of the original facility. Puesto fits nicely with the other restaurants and retail shops in San Diego’s Seaport Village area.
So nice to see so many new Unilocalers pack the place and visit with some familiar old schoolers. It’s not a complete Event unless I grab at least one photo with Maria C, snap group pics with your smartphone, and photobomb a few others. Thank you to the generous folks and top notch service at Puesto for letting us Unilocaler tacoholics take over your establishment and providing such fantastic food and delightful drinks. ¡The house guac y Ceviche de Acapulco was muy delicioso! The Perfect Margarita and then some. Just when you think you think they were done snacking, another platter of food came out.
You know it was an exceptional eatstravaganza when Unilocalers were getting stuffed and tapping out. Chicken al pastor, rajas, filet mignon, and lobster tacos. Then flan AND frozen horchata? Oh snap — fruit cups to-​go! Roll me home. Treadmill tomorrow.
Of course, huge thank you to número uno mixmaster SDCM Brad and executive assistant extraordinaire Estephany for putting together another awesome Event.

Los Brothers Puesto (nice Spanglish eh?) are already local celebrities thanks to their original location up in La Jolla, which has been slinging first-​rate tacos and ceviche for a few years now. Until I saw it for my very own eyes, I had no idea they were going to up the ante by opening a **massive** new space in The Headquarters.
… And what a perfect venue for a Unilocal event!
Seriously, these guys blew it out of the ballpark. The amount of food served up was absolutely ridiculous. Loved the chips and molcajete salsa, loved the mahi-​mahi ceviche, loved the fresh guacamole, and I **adored** all the tacos, from the chicken al pastor, to the rajas, to the filet mignon, to the lobster. It was gourmet tacos for days — heaven!
The desserts were also amazing, especially that killer flan. For a moment there, I thought I had missed out on it – but luckily ‘wifey’ came to my rescue with a plate of it in tow. =) And the Mexican street cups to go were just too generous.
OH – and the cocktails. Double-​fisting margaritas and palomas? Now that’s my kind of night! Bravo to Brad and Estefany for their killer party-​planning skills. And bravo to Eric and co. for bringing their amazing business downtown!

At around 745pm, Mel J gave me a Lactaid… since I’m probably lactose intolerant, my wife, my pet fish Puff, fellow Unilocalers, and the general public are grateful for a less gassy Chun P… TACOs!!! :D
