Business Owner

John Driscoll has been in, on and around boats since childhood. His grandfather was Commodore of the San Diego Yacht Club and founding partner of Gray, Cary, Ames and Driscoll in 1927 where he specialized in Admiralty law. His father founded Driscoll Custom Boats and was a leader in the America’s Cup campaigns in the 1970s. John founded Driscoll Yachts, established his presence as a broker, and raced sailboats all over the worldd in everything from a Sabots to Maxis.

As a young man, John apprenticed in all boatbuilding disciplines, including painting, carpentry, mechanical, electrical welding. John founded Driscoll Yacht + Ship Brokerage in 1975, and recognizing the lack of qualified marine management and consulting services he soon offered these services to his clients.

Today John is a recognized expert in all things marine, offering brokerage and management, as well as maritime and expert witness consulting.
