History

Established in 2013.

— Opening MARCH 2013 —

Donut Bar is, in a phrase, the post modern donut Mecca you’ve never heard of. We introduce a new concept on the quintessential American classic — The Donut.

Boom. The Classic Glazed Raised Donut. We take the classic glaze and add sweet caramel, a Kentucky Bourbon infused reduction, then tossed with a light salty finish. Really. We just went there.

We use recipes from the old world.

Meyer Lemons that you can squeeze until the juice runs down your leg.

Lemoncello that won’t switch sides this time.

Old Fashioned doughnuts that your grandfather –and his handlebar mustache– would approve of.

Donut Bar is San Diego, and we always will be.

So here we are today. Wanna Donut.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Our founders, Master Pâtissier Wendy P. & Santiago C.

Celebrated as the Most Award Winning Donut Shop in the U.S.A.

Donut Bar is a completely different kind of donut company. While focusing on the real ingredients, flavors, textures and design of artisan donuts, Donut Bar promotes and celebrates an artisan baking culture that first appeared in Europe and America in the 1940s which has recently been revived by small groups of like minded out of the box thinkers in America.

The company is based in a 2200 sq ft renovated print shop in beautiful Downtown San Diego. Above our Kitchen is the Donut Bar Lounge, where locals relax in comfortable leather chairs and plug into free wi-fi while sipping on Stumptown Coffee.

We are passionate and dedicated food connoisseurs with a desire to share the love of honest real donuts with people that will certainly enjoy them.
