DJ is an amazing human being and wonderful stylist, its a pleasure to get my hair cut or colored, and recommend as many friends as possible.

I met DJ almost a year ago while I was working at the Mission Valley DSW, and I really enjoy her haircuts. They are low maintenance and she has a really laid back approach to my hair. I think my favorite thing is that she loves texture and my hair is curly/​wavy/​wild. Located in Mission Hills, the salon is really bright with natural light and unpretentious. I’m a new mom and I don’t get my hair cut often but it’s a relaxing experience and she has a great «chair side» manner. My last visit, my son was fussy and nursing and she just went with the flow when he decided he needed to nurse right then. So he ate while she cut and we all had a great time.

Came in today and got a whole new look with a cut and a colour. Loved dj’s work, she made my colour perfect and tidied up my cut. Really pleased with my hair, best hair dresser I’ve seen in a long time. Will definitely be back. :)

I met DJ yesterday for the first time and was a little nervous at first but she made me feel extremely comfortable. She did an amazing job in my hair. The color looks phenomenal! I look like a different person. And I love the cut too. I was so impressed by her work, I brought my son (he’s 6) to get a haircut from her that same day. He had gotten his haircut before at a different place and they totally messed it up. DJ did a amazing job of fixing it and made him look so handsome. She will be our new go to hair stylist. My hair has had its best color and cuts since meeting DJ. Not only is she great at her work but she makes you feel extremely comfortable during the time you’re with her. She listens, will give you an honest opinion on what she thinks will work for you, and gives you a great price.

I first came to DJ a few years ago based on Unilocal reviews. My hair was so damaged and brittle from over bleaching so she darkened me up and let my hair repair. We gradually went back to blonde and she has kept my hair healthy and looking good! I get so many compliments on my hair every time I visit her, I am a happy customer and will be for years to come :)

Have been going to DJ for 5 years. Her hair cuts are so good that I can go weeks longer between cuts than I could with any other stylist I’ve ever had. In my opinion, growing out well is the mark of a quality cut. In addition to being a great stylist, she is a wonderful person who over the years has become a good friend. I moved to San Diego a little less than five years ago and I found DJ through Unilocal.She didn’t disappoint. DJ gives consistently great haircuts and makes great conversation. I couldn’t imagine getting my haircut here by anyone else!

I have been going to DJ now for over 10 years and am her longest standing client. There’s a reason for that! My loyalty to DJ comes from not only the loving care that she has given my hair over the past decade, but the great time I have every single time I’m in her chair. She has an upbeat personality with a witty charm that keeps me fully entertained. She is always willing to listen to what I want in regards to my look and offer her expertise on why what I’m shooting for will or will not work. That’s what I love about her. She’s honest and won’t sugar coat things just to up sell me or make an extra buck. If my intended goal is reachable, she always adds more of her flair to the mix and I end up with a plan that works out even better. If my idea isn’t so great, she will tell me exactly why it won’t work and steers me in the right direction so that I don’t end up with damaged hair or frazzled locks.
I have beautiful long blonde mermaid hair thanks to DJ. When I told her a couple of years ago that I wanted to put extensions in my hair again (I had another stylist put them in a few years before), she convinced me not to do it and promised me that she would get my hair to that fantasy length all on my own without putting in extensions that would damage my hair. True to her word, my hair is not only the perfect blonde (not too yellow or ashy), but it now falls to the middle of my back and is HEALTHY!

DJ is, indeed, as good as it gets! She has been my savior since I moved back to San Diego in 2010 and I can’t imagine going anywhere else!
When I first came to DJ, by hair was badly fried from a terrible experience in LA (the stylist badly over bleached my hair… and I only wanted light highlights!). After my first visit, I could go out in public again. After my second visit, I felt like a new woman. Not only was my color corrected, my hair was in the best shape it had been in since high school! All signs of split ends and bleached hell were gone, and I still got to keep the length I desired (I can’t have short hair since the Flowbee incident of ’92).
She listens to what you want, and gives you exactly that! DJ is not afraid to go wild with experimentation, or keep it simple and sophisticated. There is honestly nothing this woman can’t do. She is respected for her years of work and loyal clientele, and for good reason… she can do no wrong!
DJ is kind, intelligent, and well versed in so many interests that you’ll learn something new during every visit. If you want a confidant and friend instead of a chore of a salon visit, look no further. DJ is far and away the best in San Diego!

So this review is from a wife’s perspective… My husband has been going to DJ for a few years now, and he looks great every time. There have been occasions in which he has «cheated» on her with other stylists (due to his scheduling conflicts, not hers) and there is a noticeable difference! DJ has a better idea as to how to manage his hair, giving him tips and styling advice. My husband is a particular man and and even more particular about his appearance. So it goes without saying that DJ can not only handle his hair, but also his personality. And she gets bonus points for enjoying «Game of Thrones» as much as we do.

Been getting my haircut from DJ for almost a decade. She continues to deliver awesome haircuts and entertaining chair side banter! It’s great to know I can sit down, give no input on how I want my hair cut, and know I’ll come out looking aces! Without DJ I’d also probably look like a hobo in my wedding pictures as well.

DJ offers an experience unlike any other! I’m a guy so usually I don’t care who cuts my hair, but I will tell you this: DJ has earned my loyalty as a customer for the last 4 years! In fact, numerous friends and co-​workers of mine recommend her.
DJ does an amazing job styling my hair and giving me tips on how to maintain and style my hair on my own. Not many stylists will cut your hair AND tell you how to continue to make it look good.
It’s also important to note how nice, personable and courteous DJ is. She’s not snobby like other hair stylists — the minute you sit down with her, it feels as if you’ve known her your whole life and could talk about anything.

It was a Unilocal review that first got me to DJ at her old business. She’s onto a different chapter now, and I’m ecstatic that she’s still in the area.
DJ is as friendly, honest, and real as you will find anywhere. She does a fantastic job cutting hair, and prices are more than reasonable.
My favorite part about going to DJ is that she just knows how to cut my hair, I don’t have to say a word. I’m confident that I could plop down in the chair, doze off for a nap, and wake up with a great cut.

DJ is the BEST I mean BEST hairstylist around! I heart her on so many levels. I have been a client for the past five years and I get complements on my hair wherever I go! I keep her card with me now just so I dont have to shuffle around in my purse for a piece of paper to give out her info to the random girl who stops me to ask where I got my hair done in Trader Joe’s or on the street *seriously it happens ALL the time… I have to admit I like the attention haha :) *
So not only is she very talented but also so down to earth and easy to talk to. From the moment I walked in the door 5 years ago to Double D Salon I felt so comfortable and at ease. No snotty snooty face attitude here :)
She is professional, kind, down to earth, easy to talk to, fun, professional, driven, hardworking and just an all around awesome person. Once you see DJ you will NEVER look for another stylist again… I promise.

DJ is a fantastic hair stylist and I met her at the beginning of her hair career. I won’t say how long ago that was :-) …but I have been a loyal client since. (You may also remember her as the ‘D’ at Double D Salon in Hillcrest.) Always with great suggestions about the latest styles and with the education and skills to back it up. Friendly and fun, she will not disappoint with keeping you happy and coming back for more! The new location is casual and comfortable, great natural light and parking is always easy. DJ is a hip, fun and talented artist.

I started going to DJ many years ago after my girlfriend recommended her and I’ve *never* been disappointed. She’s a super interesting person and I love hearing her travel and celebrity stories :-)
DJ has a real eye for men’s hair and I never feel as though I’m getting the same haircut again and again. My hair is way more manageable than before and rarely (if ever) requires any product, which I love. She’s also been a great sport about last minute scheduling, which makes my life a lot easier.

Great hair cuts. I can usually wash and go. Very little messing with my hair because the cut is amazing. Also can keep the shape of my hair for weeks. I have difficult to manage hair. Feels wonderful to find someone who can really take care of my hair
