Description

Specialties

I am a professional graduate admissions advisor specializing in helping students navigate the process of applying to graduate programs in the United States and in Canada. I have particular expertise in the areas of engineering and social sciences.

Universities receive hundreds or, in the case of many top programs, thousands of applications every year. Because of this, it is critical to submit an application that communicates your qualifications in the most effective way possible. You must not only be an excellent applicant, you must submit an excellent application.

The graduate admissions process can be complicated but I can help you navigate it so you present the most favorable, accurate and compelling picture to committee members of what you have to offer their department.

History

Established in 2014.

I have more than 10 years of experience working on the inside of the graduate admissions process at Stanford University, CA. I have served on admissions committees, evaluated applicant files, and made the admit/deny decisions for thousands of application files.

My work experience has allowed me to develop an understanding of the types of challenges faced by many applicants who often can feel uncertain about how to get ready to apply to graduate school and how they will fit into a university community in North America. I love working with prospective graduate students, offering them guidance throughout their application process and making sure they build an application package that can show admissions committees why they are a good fit for their intended program of study.

Meet the Business Owner

Debby B.

Business Owner

From 2006 to 2012, I worked in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in California, first as the Director of Graduate Admissions and then as the Director of Student and Academic Services (which encompasses graduate admissions). As the most senior non-faculty member of the admissions committee in Stanford’s EE department, I played a central role in the graduate admissions process every year.

Prior to working in the Electrical Engineering department, I rose through the ranks of Stanford’s graduate admissions staff, working in the University’s Registrar’s Office as a Graduate and International Admissions Officer and in the School of Education as the Admissions Officer (2004 to 2006).

Since 2012, I have left my full-time position at Stanford to accompany my husband to his new job in San Diego. I have done some consulting work with Stanford since then and continue to work with students in the San Diego area, helping them with admissions-related projects.
