The employees here make me never want to come back, but the food is good so I do come back. I really do not like ordering my food from this place because it seems like no matter who I am dealing with at the register or behind the counter in the kitchen, they are always rude and very shiesty with their food. They barely give you any meat with your order and when asking for ketchup or hot sauce, they act as if they should be charging you for it when they are in bags. I enjoy eating their gyros and this place never has a line, that is why I come back. I mean, when you’re hungry, you’re hungry, right? I just wish the employees would actually care about the customers because they really need a reality check and need to be nicer.

Salad and chicken are good options. You can count on two things: 1) They usually run out of items 2) The service is pretty horrible. At least they’re consistent!

its one of the best/healthiest places to eat on campus. But they are always out of food and service is slow.

It’s always amazed me that a campus the size of SDSU does not have many decent and healthy places to eat. Seems to be all greasy fast food, but luckily Daphne’s is the exception. The food is made with fresh ingredients and is made to order. My favorite is the Classic Greek Salad: Greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red onions, Feta and Greek Dressing. Gyros, Chicken, Falafel and Shrimp are optional. There is also a good selection of plates and sandwiches. As Daphne’s is located in the noisy East Commons Dining area, they have no place of their own to sit down, so you are best off sitting outside to the East to escape the din. In my opinion this is the best place to eat on Campus. Here is their menu with calories and as you can see it’s not bad in that department and it’s not greasy like Rubio’s or Panda Express.

For 7.75 you can get a combination plate and two sides with pita bread. This is a heck of a deal for a low income college student and will fill your belly.

The café itself was easy to find, clean and nice to seat outside. We ordered and payed first then the server delivered the food to our table. They gave us nice service and the price was moderate. We had Fresh-Carved Gyros and Seasoned Ground Beef Pita Burger for lunch. Both of them were very yummy. It was fresh, right amount(not too big) yet still fulfilling(in a good way, not bloated way). Definitely makes me like Greek food more and more :)
If you find yourself at State, do yourself a favor and try the Pita Burger, they sell it in a combo with fries, which comes in at a low price(I think like 6 dollars). I actually tried the gardenburger, and it was amazing. Keep in mind, I’m the type who loves his burgers and his beef too. Bottom Line: Awesome food, can’t go wrong here.

Sad to see this place has low reviews. It’s hard to find healthy eats on campus when you can’t eat sugar or flour. Their chicken plate is perfect here for someone like me. You get three pieces of grilled chicken breast, Greek salad and rice, as well as four slice of pita bread which I forgo, not because its not good but because I just can’t eat that goodness! Maybe its a bit on the pricier side at around $ 6 for that meal, but its good and its healthy so to me its worth it. This is located within San Diego State’s EASTCOMMONS.

Daphnes gave my taste buds their first experience with Greek /Mediterranean food, and first impressions can go a long way … It’s been a few years since I ate here, but I didn’t forget the taste… There’s a bland taste to gyro pita, but there’s also something in this that tickles my tongue(could be the sauce). It’s a hit or miss depending on the food you’re used to. I came here a few times with a buddy of mine while attending State. We both love Mexican food, and on occasion we «even» eat at the Panda Express that’s a few spots over, but I don’t think we can agree on Daphnes Greek Café. He likes the gyro sandwiches they have here, but I might never have a place in my stomach for it unless I am starving.
