(1) owner promised multiple times that he would not stop working on my project until «you are completely satisfied»; (2) i signed a contract not knowing that the company had not filed to operate under a fictitious name with the county of san diego and indeed had not done so within the 40 day requirement (see the reference to a 40 day requirement on San Diego County Assessor/​Recorder/​County Clerk website regarding FBNs); (3) within a few days of signing i sent owner a 10 page PPT deck of web page designs including landing page; (4) alas, i received a completely different web page design in response; (5) owner committed to prepare landing page with accordion slider opening with mouse hover («we will do what it takes to get the site that you want» and «you got it sir») only to try and fail; (6) he then offered me something i did not want. i thought that my project would be relatively simple, a basic web content management system with an e-​commerce plugin and the slider. i came to this belief based on representations made to me that the company would be able to achieve what I envisioned and asked for. unfortunately, i came to the conclusion that the owner would not be able to deliver what I wanted. i then asked for my down-​payment back so we could both move on graciously; (7) the owner replied that «i am not sure you know how business works» and restricted all communication to email; (8) after another request for return of my down-​payment owner then communicated he interpreted my request as terminating the project and he asked for the remaining funds (i paid an initial deposit), and he wished me «good luck». so i have no website and am out my deposit. the owner told me that i am an «impossible to satisfy» client” and said that i «have done nothing but delay the whole process». i disagree, of course, and i believe that i am someone who just wanted a simple but sharp and operational site for my start-​up. my request to the owner to negotiate a settlement lies dusty in the ether. feel free to contact me at
