History
Established in 2009.
When I was in my 20’s, I’d come out to Crystal Pier and go fishing. It’s so beautiful out here. Dolphins swim by, the view is spectacular and the people walking out on pier are always so interested and friendly. Good times. Everytime I’d be coming to or leaving the pier, I’d notice the little shack that I knew had to be originally designed as a Bait House. I always thought to myself, «Wow, wouldn’t that be awesome to have a little Bait and Tackle Shop right there». Years went by and I frequented Crystal Pier less and less but I never forgot about the good times I’d had out there. I’d occasionally take a walk out onto the pier and reminisce. In my mid 30’s I started wondering what I could do that might make me some extra money. I thought, fishing pole rentals. No one rents fishing poles for the pier! I finally got up the nerve to ask the manager about the shack. Here is the converation, I asked, «Have you ever had a bait and tackle shop out there» He replied «Why, you wanna do it?
Meet the Business Owner
James B.
Business Owner
I opened Crystal Pier Bait and Tackle in 2009. Before opening the shop I worked in the home-improvement industry. I was born in Virginia in 1970 and I was raised in the Pacific Northwest (Portland, Oregon/Southern Washington). It was a great place to grow up but unfortunately you can’t do much outdoors because it rains all the time! I visited San Diego for the first time when I was 16 and at that point I decided to move here when I turned 18 and I did:)
