These guys are awesome. They’re smart, honest and genuine– Completely went above and beyond. I don’t Unilocal often but I can confidently say they’re worth your time and money.

My three year old laptop that I use for work just wouldn’t turn on while I was on a tight deadline during Christmas week. Ouch! A friend recommended CGS in OB and off I went. These guys are the best! My laptop needed much more than a new battery, and because of my machine’s features and processor it was worth saving. In the meantime, I used their in-​house computer station and then a complimentary loaner from them to finish up work without skipping a beat. Don meticulously went through everything, provided bonus upgrades and thoroughly explained everything he did and made sure I understood all my options.
I’ve got my computer back with every bit of my data saved, safe and sound. My trusty workhorse is now upgraded, better than when I first bought it, and I understand how to better take care of it. Both Don and Barry treat customers as #1 with great service and technical advice.
Thanks guys… I’ll be back with my other laptop!

Don and Barry went above and beyond the call of duty, to say the least.
Through late-​night time consuming scrupulous diagnostics, patiently and thoroghly informing me of my options, their guidance had me feeling I was in honest hands. I am now the proud owner of a perfect macbook air, along with several bonus bells&whistles, I paid half what I would have @the mac store, and my beloved old white macbook is still a handy dandy back-​up.

I love these guys! Don helped me purchase and mac book they refurbished! He answered all my questions and was so knowledgable and you can tell they want the customer to have the very best! This is a very valuable local business, run by friendly and knowledgeable experts. Today, they found an online voucher to get me 20% off my purchases. They installed Norton Antivirus for free, cleaned my computer and took the time to give quality, relevant advice.
Please ignore the hysterical one star reviews for them, these guys clearly care and do their best to give a great service. And finding discounts on purchases which they didn’ have to do is obviously super sold also — who doesn’t like that?

These guys ROCK! I own a local business and somehow, some way accidentally hit keys on my computer keyboard in just the right way and my whole screen flipped upside down. I was mortified because I NEED my computer to run my shop. I called CGS (again) for help. They were so patient and kind to me and helped me figure out exactly what to do to flip my screen back to normal. THANK YOU!!! I will only ever take my computer to these guys.

Took my sony vaio laptop to these guys because i had a screen problem explained to them that i thought the screen inverter was going bad and they said the screen was going bad we see this everyday and weve been doing this for years and said it would be around $ 250.00 to replace it i said i don’t think it is the screen and i don’t want to invest 250.00 into this one i would rather just buy a new one
they tried to sell me a new one i said thanks but no thanks went home ordered a screen inverter on ebay for $ 4 free shipping installed it in 5 minutes and low and behold it works perfectly watch out for these guys the average man on the street

EXTREMELY OVERPRICED! The amount they charge for data recovery is unheard of! Please people call around to get better deals. Also their merchandise is outdated and overpriced as well. I’m not sure why this business charges a lot more than others but I won’t be doing any business here and just wanted to warn others that are shopping for a computer repair. Also, even though I know that issue with my computer they still require a diagnostic fee before the repair… Now if that isn’t ripping people off I don’t know what is!!!

My PC wouldn’t boot. I’m pretty computer savvy and didn’t have time to trouble shoot myself since I was still in the process of moving so I brought it to them. It took them 10 days to tell me that my computer just needed cleaning, then another few days to do a simple cleaning and get it back to me. So it ran me about close to $ 200 which I think is pretty steep. They also wanted me to pay in advance, which I thought was odd. Have never had to do that with anything, whether it be a car, lawnmower, or computer.
They did do a few extras like install a free anti malware program that is widely available for free download online, but I think that is part of the normal diagnosing process.
They are competent at what they do and very nice, but for the amount of time it took them to do something simple and the price, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Met their deadlines. I did have an issue after getting the computer back, but they fixed it under the warranty and all is well. Good to work with.

Don and Barry were not only very friendly and patient, but very helpful when I needed help with my laptop. They went over the possible reasons why I was having issues with my laptop constantly shutting down on me before doing any work on it. They also explained my options, and potential outcomes for getting it serviced. I thought it was a great price considering the work they did to get me up and running again, as well as the additional improvements they made and suggestions they gave. I love the cooling pad they suggested, too. I’m happy to support local business, being an OB local myself, but I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks guys.

Barry and Don saved my life when I spilled water on my Macbook Pro. I frantically brought my computer into CGS and was terrified because I work from home and take online courses (my Mac = my life). The guys at CGS quickly dried everything out and managed to save all of my data on my hard drive.
When it came time to talk business, I never felt like they were trying to sell me something that wouldn’t benefit me. I definitely needed extra internal storage, so Don recommended to install a hybrid drive. Thing is a beast and I couldn’t be happier. They also did a full recovery and installed Mac’s new OS, including iWork and all my existing files. I had wanted (and needed) to update my hardware and double my RAM for quite some time, so I now consider that expensive spill a blessing in disguise.
The whole thing took about a week — during which time I was able to use their computer/​internet and even download CS6 trials to get my work done. I definitely recommend taking your computers/​electronics to the wonderful guys at CGS!

Barry, the owner of Computer Guy Services, has always been extremely helpful with all of my computer inquiries and purchases. I seriously don’t know how I would’ve survived my last semester of school without his advice and service. All of his employees are always very professional, informative and friendly. I’ve had CGS back up files on my computer, assist me with issues regarding my motherboard to my battery. They always strive to get me the best price on the market for whatever my computer needs are and they are always efficient with service. I highly recommend this family run business for all of your internet, computer or tech-​necessities!

Really, important, if you have other devices such as printers, multiple screens, that may compromise the outcome of your results by having to bring your main computer into the their store, they will come to you.
I’m disabled, trying to launch a home business, and therefore could not bring my computer in, plus, I had multiple challenges with not only my printer, but many viruses as well. WHAT’S REALLY GREAT IF YOU ARE IN TOWN ON BUSINESS, OR ON VACATION, YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF HAVING ANY DEVICE TROUBLESHOT, EITHER IN YOUR HOTEL, OR YOU CAN BRING IT IN AND IT WON“T GIVE YOU THE SAME AGGRAVATION OF THE BIG WAITS OF THE SUPERSTORES.
The best way to start, or determine which plan of action is right for your situation, is the call them first, Don, or Barry, (partnering owners) briefly explain what’s going on, mention you saw this Unilocal review. I say this because they have parts, and supplies for many different computers, laptops to desktops, to tablets. If they have a product that can fix the problem without you actually having to ‘leave’ your computer there, and it will cost you less money, they will tell you on the phone,
I’m not sure if my 5 stars are for integrity, passion for their business, or because they just plain old out save me every-​time, I cannot figure out ‘what is it this time!?“
I have gone to, price matched, and compared other services before I became disabled, and The Computer guys, have always been the best service, followup, and price for repair and troubleshooting. As a matter of fact, they don’t even know, until now, (I suspect) that I «HAD» to make a house call, because of both my disability, and my devices both needing attention.
In closing, if you cannot afford, or do not see a need of a recommended product that was introduced to you for your computer, or home office, and it’s on special, they will honor the special price if you need it later, as long as it’s still in stock.
Don, took very detailed notes on all the work he did when he was working on all the troubleshooting, and printer challenges I had, so that if I were to call in the future for things recommended, they will Honor the prices quoted!

We had a laptop die on us and decided to give these guys a try. They fixed our machine in the timeframe they offered and returned it to us in a condition we could imagine– it was beyond pristine. They went above and beyond for us and that is why they get 5 stars.
As an aside, we are «computer people» and could have easily done the job ourselves, but in the interest of saving time we had them do it. 100% satisfied we are.

Excellent and fast service! These guys not only fixed my lap top but made a lot Of improvements that I was not expecting!

My laptop was overheating and shutting down so I took it in. It took a week to get a call back about diagnostics, which I thought was long, and the result was «nothing’s wrong». Ummmmmm, but it shuts down all by itself multiple times a day??? They suggested I get it «dusted out» and then buy a cooling pad. Did both, still not fixed. Nice guys but appear to be disorganized, don’t call back when they say, and don’t communicate well when they do.

Excellent service, and friendly staff. I used the Internet café for 10min, and printed around 50 pages the price was fair just under $ 8. A++

Big thanks to Computer Guy Services for repairing my desktop PC. They were incredibly informative, thorough, helpful, generous, and thoughtful throughout the entire process.
From the minute I dropped off my computer, they were communicative by phone every day, to let me know the status of my computer repair. They also gave me several detailed options throughout the process so I was getting exactly what I needed without having to spend more money than needed.
CGS was very attentive to my needs and my budget and could NOT have been more helpful when I picked up the computer– explaining every last detail of the repair and upgrades they performed. They went as far as cleaning the entire machine inside and out without charging me any extra, and they even gave me a pair of computer speakers for FREE because they saw that I could use them and they had a pair at the office that were compatible with my machine.
I will never go anywhere else for any computer repair needs! I highly recommend these guys.

A few rants ago, I stated that I was going to try to be more mature on Unilocal and not just be out to get people who wrong me. Well I’m going to have to come out of retirement and tell the world my story about how Best Buy’s Geek Squad took advantage of my naïveté and wasted over $ 200 of my hard earned money, much to my chagrin.
But that’s another story. I’ll get to Best Buy one day when I’m not in such a good mood. The point is, if they hadn’t screwed me over so royally, I wouldn’t have discovered Computer Guy Solutions, the antithesis to Geek Squad’s total lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction.
Don and Barry are two guys who know their stuff and don’t talk down to guys like me who don’t speak the computer jargon. They explore several options with you before you commit to anything, and they’re forthcoming with prompt and reasonable timetables for labor and repair.
They did not try to up-​sell me on things I did not need. This is very important to me, and so rare these days it was refreshing. They got rid of viruses Geek Squad missed, repaired files Geek Squad nearly erased, set up protections from future viruses and spyware, and got my computer’s speed back up to par. In fact, they went above and beyond the repair services I paid for.
I’m lucky these guys live right down the street from me, but I’d recommend them to you even if you live in Escondido. The service was that good, and good computer repair services are hard to come by these days. Between my experiences and those of my friends and acquaintances, there really aren’t that many pros out there who are at the top of their game and manage to refrain from taking advantage of people who might not speak the language.
This is also a good place to go if you need internet on the fly and need to drop in someplace. It beats the library, and CGS has cooler magazines than the library anyway. Cool little lounge area.
