Coastal Pride Towing

Worst experience with any business I have ever had. I was trying to get my wrecked vehicle towed to second collision repair place (who recommended this tow company).
Day 1; First the phone rang about 20 times before Darlene picked up the phone. I could hardly understand what she was saying and actually asked twice if I was calling a towing company. After setting up the tow reservation she said they could not accept credit cards because of a slow internet connection (seriously?) I ended up driving the $ 150 in cash down to the collision place that referred this tow company.
Day 2: Coastal Pride showed up to do the tow of my vehicle the next day from the company that had been doing the initial estimate of damage; Long story short, they ended up NOT towing my car because of a balance (which most legitimate tow companies will transfer with the bill) and it would be added to my second estimate. Rather than call me or let me know what was going on– they decided not to tow my car and left.
The collision repair place they were supposed to have picked it up from called me at 5:30 that night to let me know it had not been towed and why.
Day 3; First thing that morning I called Coastal Towing — and got the «owner» some guy who was absolutely vile and rude; I had asked if they would be picking up the car that day and told him that I had taken care of the bill and he laid into me that he had tried calling me (he knew this was an outright lie) and I called him on it. We ended the call with him telling me to call someone else and screaming at me. Problem solved for me– I did call another tow company and another collision repair business. The collision repair place that had referred me to Coastal Pride Towing also lost my business (which was roughly $ 8000 in body /​paint work). I am also writing a letter to the collision repair business that referred me to Coastal Pride Towing and letting them know that the referral of this tow company just cost them that $ 8000 in business.

Our car had a flat tire… there was a one inch gash on the side of the tire so it needed to be towed to the dealership so we could get a new tire put on. We were told the tow truck would take ~ 40 minutes to get to us, but they arrived a little bit early. Russell was really nice, very efficient/​professional… and got our car on his truck within a short period of time. About 10 minutes later we all met up at the dealership and he had us sign a paper and off he went. Very happy with their service. Thank you, Russell!

My tire got slashed by a wrench in the freeway. After holding for 20 minutes with my insurance’s roadside assistance, Danny from Coastal Pride Towing showed up to see if I was ok or needed help. I’m not sure if he was on or off be clock, but he took time out of his day to be a Good Samaritan. He offered to take me to a service center or help out my spare on (he did the latter). Anyway, I don’t write reviews very much, but Danny at Coastal Pride came to the rescue!

We called because our driveway was blocked. We have had to have cars towed for blocking us in before. When the tow truck driver arrived he had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth and was refusing to remove the car. We informed him that the police had informed us not to call them and to call a tow company directly. He continued to argue with us, until the owner of the car showed up, and agreed to move the car. Completely unprofessional.

I called ahead two weeks schedule the appointment call back to check in yes everything was good 40 foot flatbed no problem no problem then day comes along& pickup no show 45 minutes later he shows up with the wrong truck so I had to schedule another company didn’t get a chance to shop around cost me more money and two extra hours off work also when the truck was originally 20 minutes late I called the office and she said he would be there in 5 to 10 minutes and he wasn’t there for an additional 25 minutes unprofessional I do not recommend this company

If I could give them a negative 5 stars I would. It’s a damned shame the lowest I can go is one star! Where do I start there blatant rudeness or there complete lack of professionalism? I’m a disabled Marine. I needed my disabled vehicle towed from MCAS miramar vehicle storage complex to a repair shop off of miramar road. I was going through ATT roadside assistance and they gave the dispatcher specific instructions to have the driver call me prior to arrival to give clear directions since military bases are not easy to get on or navigate. The driver arrived early at the wrong place without calling and blatantly said in a threatening tone your gonna have to reschedule I don’t have time for this! Now I’m not sure why this guy is even in the type business because I’m pretty sure what I called him for WAS what he does as a profession. He said he was gonna a call his dispatcher to verify that his instructions were wrong and call me back. Instead he just left and left me hanging. I had to basically forget about the whole thing and try again tomorrow. Beware of this company. Only call them if your looking to be treated like crap. Some folks do like that sort of thing.

Coastal Pride is the best. I have roadside assistance through my insurance co and when I have an emergency and call for roadside assistance they always tell me it will be a few hours. When my clutch went out and my car was stuck in the middle of the road or when I recently crashed on the 805 that wasn’t an option. Thank god I know the guys over here, they came to my rescue ASAP!!!

Almost got hit by one of these guys on the freeway I honked and almost got hit a second time!!! If i was a real asshole I would have reported him to CHP like I should have and had him fired. These Roadside Assistance vehicles are managed by CHP and SANDAG maybe I should report him… He was on I-​5 north bound from the 15 to the 163 he never put his phone down even after I took his picture…

These people are completely incompetent. After being on hold for about 10 – 15 minutes, the finally dispatch a truck, that took over two hours to get here. The driver was nice enough, but couldn’t answer any questions about pricing and fees. They were supposed to take my car to an auto body place which is 7 miles away. We drove separately, and got here over an hour ago, and the car still hasnt arrived. We called the tow company again to check the status of the truck, understandably upset, and the receptionist actually yelled at me and hung up.

These motherfuckers stole my new sony camera. Luckily, I had already downloaded all my stuff to my laptop.
They pretty much ransacked my truck and took what they could. I had no way of proving it. Fortunately I didn’t leave behind the 5 grand in cash I had from selling a kidney ’cause they would have taken that too.

This towing company rips people off. It is not on the up and up. was parked (with proof from the Naval camera’s) and they actually moved the car into a zone where it could be towed actually took pictures as if what they were doing was right. ended up having to call the cops who said it was a civil matter but agreed that something wasnt right and that i should pursue. Was provided the phone for the BBB. This is a family run buisness and it looks like if they are struggling they will make sure and TAKE what they need from the «customer». DO NOT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE FOR ANYTHING! They are ripping off the consumer illegally and having no shame in doing so.

First filled out a form, signed my name and authorized the cost of removing my car @ $ 195. Suddenly when they swipe my card it’s at $ 280.
I ask them to see the price sheet i first signed? They smudged out one of the numbers (added $ 45 to it) and then added ANOTHER $ 45 for special equipment cost. Oh? you didn’t know about your special equipment cost before? ROFL!

I have discovered the modern day pirates: seedy, unsavory characters who swoop in, tow your car, hold it hostage, and demand payment. My unfortunate roommate was the victim of these buccaneers, and I the unwilling accomplice in retrieving the car.
We arrived and had to speak to the man through a slot in a grimy window. I was half expecting to hear an «arghhhh» when he first walked up. Instead, he offered me an umbrella, referring to me as my roommate’s «lady friend.» At least we know the man has some manners. He swaggered about for a while and made some noise about us not having the right paperwork to get the car. And as everyone knows, there’s no use in attempting to reason with a pirate!
The entire atmosphere was pretty grim. There were guard dog signs everywhere on a barbed wire fence surrounding the hostage cars. And everything was disgustingly dirty. However I must admit, the man was somewhat polite. He made some pretty ridiculous recommendations about driving to the dmv to get some kind of certification, and calling the chp for some other certification; all useless ideas. In the end, my roommate got his car out through some loophole.
The thing that really irks me is that this was all done supposedly within the confines of the law. Apparently, my roommate wasn’t even parked illegally when his car got towed, and yet he’s still forced to pay a hefty fine.
It seems appropriate that these modern day pirates should work for «Coastal Pride» Towing, am I right? I hope I never encounter the plunderers of San Diego again.
