I had my first procedure done today and I have to say that the Dr and his staff are the best that I’ve had. I was greeted when I walked in with a smile and my appt started right on schedule I felt comfortable and he was very thorough with explaining everything that was needed. Definitely would recommend.

I have been going here for years now. Always a great experience. Very professional, clean environment, and not to mention a down to Earth Doctor!

I don’t live in San Diego and I’ve never been to Dr. David’s practice but I want to say that he’s a professional that is proud of his practice and really loves what he does. He was absolutely willing to answer my questions and calm my fears about my child’s upcoming dental surgery even though we had just met and he was on vacation. I wish that I lived in San Diego because I would pick him over any dentist I’ve ever met based on his knowledge and his passion. Today I went and had 4 filling and let me tell ya, I love this place! The dentist, his front desk staff and his assistants are sooooooooo nice. The lady at the front desk knew me by name as soon as I walked in the door. The dentist takes his time and makes sure you are numb and comfortable. Great job guys, see yall in 2 weeks.

Sandy cleaned my teeth — did a great job. Recommended I come back for a deep laser cleaning since my gums were definitely needed a break.
Dr. Dave did a great job telling me about the issues with my teeth. Had a root canal retreat, so he’s going to fix it and swap out my fillings that were really old technology. I’ll update with the results!

I am new to San Diego and have a phobia when it comes to dentist. I called coastal dental arts not knowing what to expect. When I went in for my consultation the two ladies in the front were very welcoming. After I filled out all my paperwork, I explained to the ladies how scared I was. When the lady, who’s name I can’t remember, called me back to do my x-​rays she made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Finally the dentist came over and introduced himself to me. He was also extremely nice. I explained to him that I was scared of the dentist because I couldn’t ever get numb. He promised me that he could numb me and then explained how he knew he could. The dentist is very very smart! Today I went back for my appointment to have my teeth deep cleaned. Still scared out of my mind, I made it. The hygienist is the one that did the deep clean. She was very very very sweet! She is gentle and knows what she’s doing. The dentist got me numbed completely to where I couldn’t feel anything. I love this place and I hope I can finish my dental work before we move.

I’ve been going to see Dr. Chotiner and company for over a year now, and each visit has been a very pleasant experience. Dr. Chotiner and his staff are top notch! Sandy and Wendy are very attentive and caring. I’m really happy with all the care I’ve received at CDA.

I am a person who has recently resettled in San Diego from the Los Angeles area. Having been without a dentist for the past six months, Dr. Choitner was recommended by friends who live within our condo building in the downtown area. The walk to his office is within five minutes. From my first visit, I was highly impressed with Dr. Choitner’s outstanding dental skills and his very amiable personality. All of his staff are well informed and highly skilled in assisting him. In my 60+ years, I would say that Dr. Choitner is the best dentist I have ever had. I couldn’t be happier to be a patient of Dr. Choitner’s and would recommend him very highly!

I approach this review with a serious goal in mind. To not only educate the Unilocal community but to prove a point that this platform can help people and businesses. When I became an «Elite» status Unilocaler 6 years ago, A friend of mine jokingly said «So you’re telling me you’d choose a doctor or dentist using Unilocal?» And I said I would absolutely use Unilocal as part of my due diligence while seeking out a service. Years later that same friend is writing reviews, booking reservations at bars on the mobile app and trying to gain «Elite Status» At the very least if I heard my friends or family members were about to have a surgery or a dental procedure at a 1 star reviewed practitioner; my only words to them would be «Caveat Emptor!» That dude has a 1 star rating with 1,500 reviews, stay away!
At the very end of it all, even if Unilocal never existed, the good, the bad, and the ugly would still play out. Businesses don’t succeed or fail because of Unilocal.The platform merely documents their success or failure. Unilocal is a tool and one that cannot be ignored. The same assholes that cry, kick and scream have the app on their phone, or click that Unilocal link while researching the restaurant they will be visiting while they are in a new city. I’ve been wanting to write this review for over half a decade, 8 years to be exact. However, I waited. My reasoning was simple, I mostly review bars, restaurants, stores, historical sites, factories, café’s, bathrooms, cities, breweries, markets and yes I’ll rate cities and many more to come. In the end, something as personal as a dentist needs thee most careful consideration.
The staff are all beautiful ladies inside and out, he knows how to pick them. Seriously, many of these girls have been there for years, very nice and friendly and very hospitable, I have seen some grow up and become married and mothers. Dave is always ready to attack the mission and get your teeth where they need to be, which is in your head. Coastal Dental Arts is a great dental office with even a better dentist and staff.
Today I want to extol on the virtues and class that my dentist possesses. David Chotiner, is an impeccably dressed dentist, a well groomed & manicured man of integrity and intensity. Even though he attended school years ago, he proudly displays his framed degree and credentials in his waiting room. I guess one thing that stands out to me about David, is that he has always WANTED to be a dentist since he was just a child, there is just something so special about this, some chuckle or write that off, but what did you want to be as kid? a ballerina? There is personal-​vintage artwork done by him, of when he was a child displaying his curiosity and desire to become a dentist. This simply cannot be taught, he is passionate about what he does, and that passion comes through when he is handling business. I’d venture to say it would be safe to assume most dentists have to WANT to be a dentist. But his passion for perfection is very apparent while attending an appointment.
Here is the thing, if you take away just one fricken thing from this review, PLEASE remember this. Dr. Chotiner is at his practice every-​damn-​day, early. He deals with everything from actually performing big time dental procedures, invisaline shit, fillings, crowns, root canals, whatever else dentists do all day, including dealing with product, technology, outside agencies & insurance issues. He has a whole staff that he manages.
The entire business is on his shoulders. I am not asking for you to feel sorry for him, however at times I do. As you lounge at your pool at 1pm, keep in mind he is drilling a tooth. Look, he isn’t ALLOWED to have a «bad day» or an «oops» Think about working in someones mouth… with a drill, that is no-​shit pressure, sharp things in tight places with that person with their tongue flopping about like Mr. Ed, yeah he does that everyday.
Rank breath, rotted teeth, shitty customers that do not want to pay. And in all this craziness, he still finds time to say hello, ask you how you are doing, catch up with your jacked up teeth that are fucked up because you eat bit-​o-​honeys all day and drink gallons of red wine, then bitch about the 103 dollars your insurance didn’t cover. What amazes me most about Dave, is that his learning, is daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, learning NEVER ENDS. EVER it is for the rest of his fucking life, until he retires or dies.
Do you think he is using the same technology he learned to use 16 years ago? Fuck NO! he doesn’t get the pass to say «well nobody told me?» he HAS TO KNOW EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME, EVERY-​TIME. Would I recommend Dave, you bet your ass I would. Dude is serious about teeth and knows his shit.

I’m not going to go into too much detail here because I know someone who got sued by a doctor for posting a bad review. Not that I have anything horrible to say, but I do want to say I was a patient of Dr. Chotiner for many years but am now leaving because I am sick of the sales pitches I have been receiving lately. No complaints about any work he ever did on me though.

I am a new patient at this dental office and I went in to had my teeth cleaned. Sandy was the dental hygienist that worked on my teeth and I had a really good experience with her as she was also very informative with my options. She was very gentle and I would definitely consider going back every 6 months.

I am a new patient of this magnificent facility, I have had so many bad, ruthless, and insensitive dentists in the past. The staff here treated me like family. Each employee was knowledgeable and caring. They discussed each issue I had and what my insurance covered and what my out of pocket cost would be. The dentist broke it down by order of priority to least important at the moment. The dentist is very gentle and actually treated me like he cared. There are truly no words to describe how happy I am that I have found this facility.
They are very organized here and the office is so clean and neat. During my first visit I was literally filled with tears and emotion due to the sincere way I was treated.
I truly recommend you come and see for yourself.
I am updating this review because I want to share my most recent experience with COASTAL DENTAL ARTS. I just recently picked up my order of Invisalign. I never thought that I (mother of 4 small children) would ever be able to afford thus type of ortho work. This office provided me with so many options that I felt like I actually had a choice, I chose to have a 3^rd party coverage at NO interest.
This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I also recently had a tooth extracted from an infection that I have been living with. No other dentist cared about my actual well being than Dr David at CDA.
I really want San Diego to know about this facility.

I drove all the way from Vista today to come in after 4 years since my last visit. Dr. Choitner’s excellent work has held up despite my neglect of not coming back sooner. I wouldn’t even consider changing to a dentist closer to me by based on what a great practice this is. I’ve never felt more relaxed and confident with dentistry. Bravo!

I have been a patient of Dr Chotiner’s for about 3 years and due to the quality of care I received, my wife is now also his patient.
Last Wednesday my wife had a painful inflamed jaw/​gum and she called Erika @ Dr Chotiner’s office explaining the problem. Erika briefly put us on hold while she talked to the Dr. They stayed after usual closing time to see my wife. Dr. Chotiner recommended my wife see a specialist due to severity of the problem. His office helped arrange an appointment the next day with the specialist and gave my wife the needed prescriptions to reduce inflammation, pain etc. in the interim. The costs @ Coastal Dental are always reasonable and the location is great for us.

Chottiner and his team are consummate professionals and run a very tight ship — none of which prevents them from delivering the most concerned, customized personal care imaginable. Loves coming to coastal dental arts! I haven’t been to a dentist in two years I was super excited to find this new dentist downtown. They validate parking and the hygienists are very nice doctor is very nice. They don’t try to upsell you into items you don’t need and complete great teeth cleanings! I’ll definitely be back for my regular cleanings

Dr. Chotiner is a perfectionist. He is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. I have seen him for years. I most recently came to him for Invisilgn and my teeth look perfect now. I am grateful to he and his staff for their professionalism and their amazing commitment to their customers. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a check up to cosmetic work or a critical emergency. I trust Dr. Chotiner with all of my dental needs.
