Every neighborhood deserves a small, friendly bar with an amazing selection of some kind of drink. In this case, it’s beer. And what’s really great is that the place is run like a brewery… in that you can try small tasters of anything on the menu. As such, for just a few bucks you can try a half dozens styles from a variety of brewers. I like to try 4 – 5 samples in order to find a perfect pint, which I then stick with.

This place is amazing… Great beer list, tasty flatbreads and good peeps. The service has always been great, but from time to time, our expectations are exceeded by the back up bartender, Bradley. He’s a Cardinals fan… Bless his heart…

Clems Tap House is a great local bar in the Kensington neighborhood of San Diego. It’s a great locals bar with a friendly staff. The beer is cold and they have 30… yes 30 beers on tap. I personally had the Stone«Enjoy By 103115» very good! This place is not too hard to find, it’s behind Clems Bottle Shop

i always loved this place, since they opened my husband and i have enjoyed the selection and ambiance. thats why it sucks to be writing this. we went in yesterday afternoon for my husband’s birthday with our sleeping 10 week old baby and were told to leave, rudely. it’s fine if you don’t want business from families but next time, don’t be an a-hole. if it’s because of your license, put up a sign. but we’ve been to breweries and wine/beer places around the city and never have been asked to leave. actually, we weren’t asked to leave at all, he just came out to the patio where we were sitting and said, «uuuum… guys… the baby. we can’t have you here. i know he probably won’t be drinking… but… yeah… minors…» dude, come up with something better than that. there was a couple sitting outside next to us who were lovely and expressed solidarity with us, so, thank you to them because i was in tears and they made me feel better. we won’t be going back sadly after going to the bottle shop and tap room regularly. they are plenty of beer places that are welcoming of our family. moral of the story, dont come here with even the quietest of tiny, sleeping babies. Dog who bites customers, totally fine though. yeah, that happened while we were packing up our stuff to take our walk of shame back out the front gate.

Awesome spot to check out a decent sized and good tap list of local San Diego and popular beers from around the U.S. Also allows you to try beers there and walk over to the liquor store and purchase from there as well to take home. Kinda small but never too busy and a good spot to watch sports games without the HUGE crowds

Great little hidden bar that I just discovered. Awesome beer selection — our bartender Bradley was super attentive and created a fun atmosphere. He was knowledgeable about all of the beers and made great recommendations. Next time I will try the flatbread — it looked great. I will be back!

Bradley was awesome! He turned a quiet bar into a reunion where everyone was suddenly everyone else’s long lost best friend. He made great drink recommendations catered to each individual. He even knew exactly how I should modify my flat bread to make it better than advertised(spoiler, add chicken to the bacon ranch)

What a fantastic place for a drink! Our fantastic bartender Bradley(who swears he’s not the regular bartender), helped us find the perfect beers for our taste and our mood(it helped that there is a wide variety of awesome beers on tap). If you love beer and are thirsty, don’t hesitate just come get a drink!

Huge selection of beer and wine. I’m not a Kensingtonite, but I assume this has to be the best bottle shop in the area. I came in to browse while I waited for my movie at the Ken to start. I was very impressed at the beer selection and how well maintained everything was. I still think Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido is the best bottle shop, but I doubt most people will drive 30 min north to get a beer or bottle of wine. The prices were a bit higher than chain grocery stores, but the selection justified the prices. The employee was very friendly and I overheard him helping other customers, nice guy! They have quite a few beer in the cooler too. I also saw they have taps set up, but perhaps they were closed because I came so late in the day.

Really cool/quaint place with lots of great(rotating) beers on tap. They have all kinds of styles and they change regularly. This isn’t the place to get wasted, which is just perfect for me and my girlfriend. We like to stop by here for a few tasters and a pint before dinner. Cool spot

Clem’s Tap House is pretty cool. The GREAT: — The décor is really woody and warm — There is a lot of patio seating — It’s never packed to the gills. — They have a huge selection of beer on tap — Bonus points for allowing you to create your own beer taster flight. — The bartender is super friendly and helpful with suggestions too. The NOT-SO-GREAT: — The hours. This place closes pretty early(10pm). I’m guessing that has something to do with the fact that it’s beneath apartments and in Kensington. It is also closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. — Not much in the way of food. They have nuts and a few dry snacks, but that’s about it. — The parking: DONOT park in the lot right outside in the evenings! It’s designated parking for the people that live in the building, so you will get towed. But hey, it’s Kensington and there is plenty of street parking around! The BAD: — Nothing! Seriously, if you like beer, and want to sample new ones, you owe it to yourself to check this place out if you’re in the neighborhood!

One word… BOMB! This place is the bomb. We have lived in the area for 3 years and have been waiting and wishing and wanting for a jem like this. Cool like the other local spots but not jammed and snooty. ONLY amazing beer, wine and champs. Great ambiance. Huge TV. Small and cozy. Amazing staff. Paul is the man. Will knows A TON. If you love craft beer please go here and support them. They also own the Bottle Shop. Try something new at the Tap House and get some to go from the Bottle House. This is the type of place that makes me proud to live in this area. Nice work Clem’s. Killing it.

Great hidden Gem in Kensington. Same owners of the great Clem’s Bottle House. Clem’s Tap House is tucked away in the back of this little strip mall behind Clem’s Bottle House, its very intimate, hidden, and relaxing. Its a great place to chill and enjoy some beer tasting. I found this place some months back when I attended the Taste of Adams and I noticed a long line of people so I decided to partake on the hype and received a few free taste of some great beers. Clem’s Tap House is not your ordinary Tasting room or Bar/Pub. They carry a large arrange of beers booth on Tap and cans but they don’t serve beer«PINTS» On tap(per IDK what kind of law or regulation that they are trying to overcome). What they have is a variety of flights or tasters. You can order food from Clem’s Bottle House and they have a great amount of munchies, Sandwiches, meats and cheeses plates. They have a large HDTV and a patio area to enjoy the weather. Minus 1 star for not able to offer a full pint and having to order flights that maybe have a beer I don’t like.
