History

Established in 2011.

City Consulting Group was born out of a need. After working for large national real estate brokerages, Jorge Verdugo asked himself how he would do it differently, he felt that sellers were being inadequately represented by part-​time and out-​of-​area agents. In response, he formed City Consulting Group in 2011 — a local, full service real estate agency focused on a multifaceted team approach.

Over the years, our team has developed a long tested and highly refined strategy to sell our listings. History has taught us that what it takes to sell a home in San Diego is captivating photography, strong community relationships, maximum online exposure, and exceptional negotiating skills.

In the past 24 months, City Consulting Group has represented 72 sellers and 48 buyers in real estate transactions from San Marcos to Chula Vista and as far east as Santee. With a 98.84% List– to-​Sales price ratio, we have a history of pricing homes accurately and negotiating successfully.

Jorge has been working in the real estate industry since 2004. His passion for downtown is contagious as he loves nothing more than telling people about the endless leisure and entertainment options it holds. The downtown lifestyle is a unique one: pedestrian friendly, bustling at night, full of great dining options, just a short walk from the harbor… and the list goes on. In 2012 Jorge broke away from the cookie cutter mold of franchised brokerages and formed the independent agency City Consulting Group located in the rapidly expanding downtown neighborhood of East Village. He’s proud and excited to be at this point in his professional career and looks forward to many more years of representing the city’s finest homes.

After owning a starter condo in San Diego, we were ready to move up and saw a listing from Citi Consulting we liked. We called and were told the property was sold, but Jorge offered to show us other buildings in town. We checked out their website and were impressed with the comparison of condominium properties. After showing us other buildings, we were still set on the building of his original listing. It turns out the original sale fell through and we were able to purchase the property we were interested in. The group was excellent at guiding us through closing. To make it all even better, we then needed to rented our other unit. Citi Consulting found us a tenant that has turned out to be super.

Just a quick update for city consulting group. My refrigerator went out a few days ago. I knew I had some sort of home warranty but didn’t know where my paperwork was located. I had food that was defrosting fast and needed a repair man. I text Jorge and told him about the problem. He happened to be at the airport. He stopped, pulled out his laptop, and looked up my warranty info. The sale of my new home has long been completed but I was still a priority to him. I was impressed.

I first met Jorge Castelleon and Amanda Shelley at an open house 2 years ago when I first got into this business. I could tell immediately they were the kind of agents that I wanted to be on a team with. I then later met Jorge Verdugo at the downtown caravan where I see him and his team every week. If they do not have a current listing on the market they are pitching one that is coming up. I met David Van Leenan at a Tom Ferry seminar and was immediately impressed with his knowledge of our market and could clearly see why he was apart of the CCG team. After several months of building a solid foundation and relationship with the team, I finally got to meet their amazing TC/​Office Manager, Mayra Canales and Kea Bensen in Strategic Marketing.
