History

Established in 1996.

Chicken Charlie has enjoyed more than 30 years in the fair business and is credited as the inventor of many fair foods including Deep Fried Oreos, Deep Fried Kool Aid, FryBQ ribs, the Zucchini Weenie, Krispy Kreme Triple Cheeseburger and more.

Charlie began in 1984, selling charbroiled corn at the San Diego County Fair for another vendor and opened Chicken Charlie’s in 1996, selling mostly broasted chicken. He resides in San Diego County where he opened his first restaurant, Chicken Charlie’s FryBQ, in October 2014.
