I don’t know the name of the lady who did my hair but it wasn’t so great. She was nice and gentle but the cut itself was NOT what I asked for. I asked for my hair to be cut about shoulder length but she proceeded to trim only an inch of hair and say that it was not possible for my hair to be «cut that short» because of my previous hair style. And then for this whole thing they charged $ 40 (including tip)!! I personally think the stylist should offer advise but ultimately do what the client asks for… this is my second time here and there probably won’t be a third.

So I went to the salon on a Saturday morning for lash extensions. Honestly, the lashes they use there look like extremely cheap quality. When she put the lashes on me they looked pretty good, however as soon as I got in my car I had at least 5 lashes fall right out. I didn’t make a big deal out of it though. I should have though because the lashes didn’t last me a single week. They ALL fell out in LESS THAN A WEEK! I even paid the girl a really nice tip Snd everything. I contacted them and never got a response. I even sent a message through Facebook and still haven’t received a response. DO NOT GO THERE FOR LASHES! Waste of money.

I have never had a straight perm before and did not know where to go in San Diego. If you are in my same shoes well let me recommend… Ceci Salon!
The team there is fabulous. They did a wonderful job on my hair and I walked out super happy. My husband liked my new look too.
Just make sure you set aside 4 – 5 hours for the treatment.

Michelle is great! Best Japanese straightening and other services too. She really knows about shaping eyebrows and making you look very natural. I’m so happy I found her.

Today, I have straight perm done. Before I came here, my hair condition was not good due to a lots of dying and perms, but after I have straight perm here, my hair became soft and look like gorgeous. I never had found a great hair salon in San Diego before I have known Ceci Salon. I strongly recommend here to do the straight perm. I don’t need to go to LA any more for hair. The service was also so kind and great. I definiely will come here agian!

My third year getting my japanese hair straightening. Mother-​daughter, Michelle and Joann are a great team and are really meticulous and good in what they do. For my hair which is waist long, they charged $ 380 which is pretty reasonable and totally worth a year of not blow drying and straightening (girls know what I’m talking about!). Crystal, my hairdresser today, was an absolute professional and a real gem! Till next year ladies!

I went to get my eyelashes done yesterday. I called in and they were able to fit me in for a same day right after work (yes!). The lady who helped me was a complete doll — she was so sweet and explained everything to me as she went a long. One thing I love about this place is they dont count the eyelashes they use. They will use however many it takes to fill your lashes. The lashes are really light it feels like I’m wearing mascara at most. I will definitely be back — the refills are only $ 49 so thats great!

I wanted eyelash extensions for a special occasion and they got me in the same day I called. The staff were all so friendly and JoAnne did a fabulous job on my eyelashes! I’ve gotten them about 4 or 5 times and this is the best I’ve ever had! Going on 5 days and none of them have fallen out. Her prices are very reasonable too! This may become a new regular thing for me. It makes me feel like I don’t even need makeup and my eyes just pop! Very happy customer! :-)

Loved my hair cut from here! I’ll definitely be back again

i asked for my hair to be shoulder length and it was cut to above my chin LOL. also, the way it was styled after it was cut made my hair extremely flat and just… it was really not cute. i was surprised because it seemed that a lot of other people had good experiences with this salon.
also, i was surprised because i brought in a photo and the photo clearly shows layers from about the chin but the overall length is down to about the shoulders. ALSO ALSO she buzzed the back of my neck and i can feel the little hairs along the nape of my neck which are finally starting to grow. but i was confused as to why she buzzed it (this is probably my fault, i should have said something) in the first place. at that point though, my hair wasn’t cut extremely short so i thought maybe i just had a particularly hairy neck HAHA
although i don’t feel too emotionally attached to my hair, my graduation is coming up = photos and now i don’t have enough hair for these photos ahah TT won’t be coming back~

I love this place! My mom and I have been going to this salon for years. I have gotten a wave perm, straight perm, cut, color, ombré, everything! My experience has always been great. Joanne, Michelle, and Richie are my favorites, although I’m sure everyone else is wonderful too. Everyone there is so sweet and you can tell they really want you to look your best when you are done. I went today just to get a trim, and I walked out with beautifully styled loose waves from Richie. He took the extra time to make sure my hair looked fantastic when he was done, even though I was just getting a simple trim. I always am happy after visiting Cesi Salon.
Overall, always a positive experience. Such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I’ve been to several hair salons over the years (everywhere from very high-​end, trendy places to my neighborhood Supercuts), and Cesi is always my go-​to salon! Good location– plenty of parking spots, nail salon next door, several food places in the plaza if you want to grab a bite while you wait for your hair color to process!

I’ve been getting my hair colored and hair cuts from Joanne for past two years.
Her recommendation on hair color really worked great with my face color and my style. She is also really good at styling your hair so if you are going out on a date or GNO, go get your hair done by Joanne: D She is also very fun to talk to! ! ~~ She is a great listener so I sometimes vent out my stories to her while I get my hair done.
I also got my eye-​lash extension from Joanne. Absolutely loved it. it stayed for good three weeks and It did not bother my eye at all!
Hair salon has very pleasant atmosphere with cozy interior.

i made my appointment for 6pm, and now it’s already 630, this is ridiculous. I think I need to wait till 7. Terrible store, what is the point for reservation if they can’t make it and waste my time.

I don’t know how to express my anger with several words! I took a picture there and want to have a same color as the model. The old woman strongly recommended me to do a highlight. They promised me I will have the same color. I knew nothing about what is highlight and I did it ! The first time, the color looks like the dry grass. I was so angry about it. They did the second time. The color still very terrible. It looks totally different from the picture. My hair is very coarse now. I have wedding ceremony in several months. They totally ruin my hair and mood!!! It is awfully cheeky of them to charge me 180 dollar finally. Don’t believe these stupid cheaters!!!

This the most fucked up place in all of Convoy. Called for an appointment before buying a groupon. I arrived 15 minutes earlier than my appointment time, and 30 mins later they told me they couldn’t take me in. Well fuck you! I hope you don’t get any more customers in groupon! In American we honor appointments because we are all busy individuals! I hate this place!

The lady who did a really good job on my hair was fired after being praised by a lot of positive reviews. Oh well, hair salon politics. I came back to get my hair cut believing that some other stylist there can take care of my hair based on some positive reviews. Let’s just say this visit determine 1 star rate for this salon. The owner try to squeeze you in even though her staff already booked in 10 minute later. So the poor stylist have to rush through the whole process … And guess what, your hair is the victim. I will never come back again.

This is a pretty good place with nice Korean ladies that will give you a meticulous cut. Certainly better than the standard hatchet job you’d get at a chain store. I do recommend this place for guys.

Let me start off by saying that although I use Unilocal on almost a daily basis, I have never left a Unilocal review. However, ceci salon exceeded my expectations!!!
I just moved to SD months ago and was very nervous about finding a salon that does Japanese Straightening. I’ve been getting my hair Japanese Straightened for 11 years (1−2x a year) and within those 11 years, I’ve move to 4 different states– so being able to find a decent to great salon is always hard to come by. Let’s just say that I’ve had my share of bad to really good experiences.
I am SO VERY pleased and ecstatic about the outcome!!! This is, by far, the BEST place I have ever been to for a JS!!! Not only are their prices very reasonable, the amount of care and detail that went into the process was impeccable. From start to finish, I was impressed by their efficiency and attention to detail. Three stylists worked on me, but the owner was the one who worked on me the most. All of the stylists were incredibly nice and you could tell that they have a lot of experience under their belt.
When I usually get JS, I typically get a very little section of damaged hair (very minimal… like 50 strands) in the front where I flat iron my hair on a daily basis. Well, the same portion of hair was damaged this time around (which I expected). Salons usually ignore the damaged/​frizzy portion and send me on my way. Well… NOT this time. Joanna (owner) immediately recognized it and remedied the frizz by putting keratin on it. She made sure that every single strand of hair was straightened before I left! She mentioned to me that there was a little bit of damage, but quickly apologized and said she never let’s a client leave unless she’s able to fix it.
I also got a trim after the JS and was impressed by it was well! I am very picky about how my hair is cut and the stylist exceeded my expectations and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted.
I have nothing bad to say about this salon. I am SO happy I found them and will be using them from here on out!!!

I’m always reluctant to go to this place. It’s sort of my last resort if I can’t go to LA. I got a cut from this place more than 5 times since I first moved to San Diego in 2012, and I have never gotten an exceptional haircut. I’m sure they are all experienced stylists, but none of them can give me the cut that I want. I always gave them the benefit of doubt, but no more. Never going back again.
The stylist gave me uneven sides and sideburns that are shaped completely different. She did not see the difference in the shape and I had to fix it myself, but it was sort of impossible to fix at that point. I don’t blame them if they can’t give me the best cut. I can man up and give it some touch or grow it out, so it’s not a big deal honestly. But what makes me frustrated is that I wasted the past two months growing it out for a certain look I was going for, just to have it cut very short and start all over again. I wasted my time and money.
I speak Korean fluently, so I endlessly nagged at her semi-​politely,
«Please do not cut the length. I am growing it out. Please trim the sides only.»
«My hair is getting shorter… can you not cut my upper hair please…»
I even held my hair several times and styled it to show her what look I was going for. She understood and nodded. Everything was fine, except, she had a different hairstyle in mind the whole entire time. I seriously blame myself partly for not showing her a picture beforehand. She clearly did not know what hairstyle I wanted. I seriously felt that maybe this hipster cut was too trendy for her…
I don’t want to put her on blast, so I won’t mention her name. But, for those of you who want to go, I suggest you show them a picture they can refer to.
Oh and this is off topic, but the salon provides stye removing service. A stye is basically like a pimple on your eyelid that forms when your eyelid pores get clogged. Apparently the owner has been doing it for like 20 years or so, so I trust that she is experienced. From my personal experience, I ended up with a scar. I had my stye removed over a year ago and… I still have a scar on my bottom right eyelid. She used some device to burn my skin off to remove the pus, but she burned off too much of my skin and there was like a concave shaped skin missing. I don’t mind the scar as much as it seems like from the tone of my post, but it is quite frustrating that she didn’t do it properly. And of course, my eyelash never grew back on that spot. I never wrote a review about this experience, but I felt compelled to do so after today’s experience.
I would like to mention that I saw one lady who spoke mandarin and she gave some guy a decent cut. I still wouldn’t go back to Ceci anymore, but I just wanted to end it on a positive note. Wow this is pretty long. I have never ranted like this ever before… sigh. Hope you guys meet the right stylist for your hair.

First off… THEY BURNT OFF A HUGE CHUNK OF MY HAIR!

Before I begin, I would like to say that I have been getting my hair straightened every year since middle school because I have 1. a lot of hair 2. it’s really frizzy and coarse. I would recommend the magic straight/​japanese straight perm to any girls with the same problem, but this is the FIRST time that my hair was literally burnt crisp off my head T_​_​T It’s not a matter of there being a new or inexperienced stylist. The first person to work on my hair was the daughter of the owner of the salon, and then they switched to the owner of the salon.
I mean, I wasn’t bald… I got the straight perm during the summer (June) but didn’t realize that a portion of my hair basically got a buzz cut because I had enough hair to cover it. But it’s on the top of the back of my head, and now that it’s growing back, it’s sticking through my hair and parting it weirdly in the back so that the patch shows up! I cannot explain how horrible it looked during the summer, or how self conscious it made me. I always have to wear it half up and make a bump so that you can’t see it. It’s not as bad anymore, but its still pretty bad and I still can’t wear my hair down because it short hair makes the rest of my hair part in the back and makes it really obvious.
Seriously makes me sooooooo maaaaaadddd to know that I have a roughly a 2inch by 1inch patch of hair that’s only as long as my index finger on the top of my head. It’s going to take forever for that patch to return to normal because my hair grows really slowly. (It took roughly 3 ½ years for my hair to grow 6 inches).
I can’t wear my hair as I’d like and I can’t leave it down (which is the whole point of getting your hair straightened) because I’m always paranoid about my super short hair.

I’m not willing to give this place more than 1 star because of my experience, but I’ll be fair and write a more complete review as well:
Summary:
* PRICE: AVERAGE ($ 270 for medium length hair)
* DURATION: AVERAGE (5 months)
* SERVICE: GOOD
* QUALITY: GOOD (aside from the burnt hair fiasco… which I would think makes it automatically bad, but anyways).
Again, my authority on this subject is that I’ve chemically straightened my hair (via japanese straight perm or korean magic straight perm) almost 7 or 8 times.

ABOUT STRAIGHT PERMS IN GENERAL:
I would definitely recommend them and think they are worth the price. You don’t have to worry about your hair getting wet and curling up. My hair is really frizzy, thick, and curly, and is a hassle in the spring when it’s windy, the winter when it rains, the summer when you go to the beach, and the fall when it’s humid. Straight perms do not damage your hair as much as straightening it with a flat iron every day does, cuts down your hair prep time to basically nothing, and makes it appear silkier and healthier.
The duration of a straight perm depends on how fast your hair grows and how often you wash your hair. It generally lasts 6 months. So think about it this way… are you willing to pay $ 50/​month (or $ 1.50/day) to skip the daily hour regiment of straightening your hair?

***** DO NOT WASH OR TIE UP YOUR HAIR AFTER A STRAIGHT PERM! *****
Usually you have to wait 2 or 3 days, but the salon will let you know. Salons that use really good quality chemicals will let you wash your hair the next day. The more harmful a chemical is, the more it will smell/​sting. Though they are more «powerful» it really takes an experienced stylist to know how long to keep it in your hair for.
Of course, I could reap little of these benefits after getting my perm done at this place because I had to spend a lot of time styling it so that the burnt off hair wouldn’t pop up while growing back.
