CAKE

Although their name is Cake, I think they are SPECTACULAR! My first encounter with Cake involved a telephone conversation with Jennifer, during this conversation I felt excited as I heard the ideas flowing from her — then I knew my daughter’s 6^th birthday cake would be amazing! The process was simple, both Jennifer and Kimberly were responsive to my email. They are both personable, friendly and true artists! When I saw the cake, it was even more beautiful than I imagined — and I knew it would be amazing! To top it off, I was pleasantly surprised when Jennifer carried the cake to my vehicle herself — such personal service can only be admired.
As for the design of the cake, we chose an octopus cake inspired by an octopus cake they previously made — a perfect choice since my daughter loves octopus.’ Jennifer personalized our cake by putting photos of my children and my daughter’s best friend on it. She made mermaids to represent my daughter and her best friend and placed their photo on each mermaid. She did the same for my son — but her was a scuba diver. The cake had a beautiful octopus on top, shells, seaweed, sand and so much more!
The cake has two tiers frosted with buttercream which looks so smooth — this shows real skill! As for the taste, the cake is moist, light and not too sweet. The filling is airy and dreamy — yum.
«Cake» is now my go to place for cakes and I’ll happily recommend Cake to all. This was a truly pleasant experience, thank you Jennifer, Kimberly and staff — you are all SPECTACULAR artists!

Our wedding cake was absolutely perfect. It looks flawless and tasted just as good! The ladies we worked with were always prompt and professional, quick to reply and stayed in contact as much as needed. The entire process was just easy, they understand what we were looking for and made our idea even better. We got endless compliments on the look of it… And then people actually ate it and were even more blown away! Highly recommend, best cake I’ve see or eaten!

Now that I have found CAKE, there is no other option in San Diego. The ladies at CAKE were wonderful in creating the perfect design for my hubby’s 40^th birthday party. And the taste was out of this world… I wanted vanilla cake with vanilla filling, but they suggested vanilla cake with chocolate filling. It was the best decision ever. Every bite was perfect. The cake was dense, the chocolate filling was light, and the white chocolate buttercream on the top was PERFECT. I am still craving it now (a week later).
Surprisingly, their prices were better than other bakeries in town. I surveyed a few high end places and they were over the top expensive for the design I wanted. CAKE made it happen for me in my budget, and they didn’t skimp on a single detail.
What I love about this place is that they carve white chocolate for the decorations on top, instead of using fondant. I love fondant, by the way. But the white chocolate was so classy, beautiful, and incredibly delicious. Everyone at our party was amazed by the flawless décor on top of the cake. It was a work of art!
I will definitely go to CAKE again and again and again.

One of the BEST parts of our wedding was the FABULOUS cake! We could not have asked for a more amazing cake! They were able to take a photograph that we showed them, and make our vision come to life down to the very last detail! The flavors were INCREDIBLE! The cake was so moist and the frosting was absolutely perfect. The staff is so wonderful and great to work with! We truly appreciate all the hard work they did to give us the most beautiful cake we could have hoped for for our special day!

We purchased 2 cakes there for our daughters last 2 birthdays, the cakes have always impressed our guests and left our daughter delighted with the creations Cake has done. They taste delicious and are really creative. Prices are very reasonable, we will continue to order custom cakes here for the future party’s

So, three weeks before my boyfriends birthday, I ordered a cake from some other guys. The week of his birthday, I called to confirm check up on how things were going and was told that he wasn’t going to be able to make my cake. I was LIVID! Now I only had 6 days to get a dynamic cake and was sure that I was SOL. I aimlessly called and left a message at «Cake,» knowing that it was way too short notice for what I was asking for. Later that day I got a call from Kimberly, and she accepted my request. I emailed pics of what I wanted, paid the deposit over the phone and Kimberly and Jenny kept me informed about how things were going all the way up to the day of the party. The ladies even delivered it Downtown to the Hard Rock! Jenny gets out of the car and brings the cake over to me and at first glance, I almost cried! It was that amazing. Kimberly was in the passenger seat of the car and I was so pleased with the work she had done that I made her get out of the car so that I could give her the biggest hug that you could ever give a perfect stranger. It completely exceeded my expectations! I was so happy because I knew that my bf would be floored and he’s not a guy that’s easily excited. It was bliss. The price was great, worth EVERY penny! I will never go anywhere else as long as they are in business!!! Thanks ladies!!!

We worked with Kim for our Octopus Wedding Cake as she cane highly recommended to us by our dessert decorator. She definitely is the best! The cake looked and tasted phenomenal. She was super excited to create this cake for us and the finishing results truly showed her attention to details and creativity. All our guests were blown away by this cake as they entered our reception site at the Birch Aquarium. I knew we had to have the best as pur wedding was featured all over the news, in wedding magazines, and on scuba diving websites. We got married Under Water with all 68 of our guests. Customer service was not good. We came in for a tasting but the cake was not good and the customer service was lacking. Waste of the hour. They should have canceled the tasting if they were overwhelmed. However artwork looked pretty on a cake they were working on. They still charged me most the fee even though they could hardly spend any time discussing the cake ideas and even though we didn’t get a real tasting. We went somewhere else after and had a real tasting where the guy explained everything and actually acted like he wanted my business. He even charged me less and we did a full tasting.

Stopped by on my way from work and tried these peanut butter cookie sandwiches that resembled nutter butters, and they were AWESOME! They also had these raspberry muffins, which I didn’t learn were vegan until after I finished eating them! Couldn’t even tell the difference. Go check this place out! I would definitely recommend it.

I stopped by their location on Reynard and had a Whoopie Pie. It was decadent and amazing!

We were very impressed with our wedding cake from CAKE! We tried several other places, but we were not wowed.
Frosting
CAKE does not use fondant, which we were very happy to hear! Instead, all of the details on our cake was made from regular frosting. The frosting was the perfect amount of sweetness and the texture was smooth.
Flavors
We went with the red velvet and the butter vanilla. The cake was very moist and delicious! Everyone was raving about how delicious it was.
Style
The cake itself was everything that we wanted! I had called the day before our wedding and asked about adding succulents to the top of the cake. They told me that they would bring the perfect ones! This is usually something that the florist would provide, but CAKE understood that I had a ton of other things to do and wanted to make my day a little easier.
I’m looking forward to our one year anniversary so that I can eat this delicious cake again! Overall, I would highly recommend CAKE for any event.

I love the cakes here, if you want to sample them out they sell the cake tasting sets Saturday mornings (you just have to let them know ahead of time).
I’ve tried a slice of the red velvet which was good. For the cakes I’ve ordered I really like the banana truffle, that’s their signature flavor. I also tried the espresso I believed which was good too.
Yum I think I want some cake now, but it’s not the type of place you can just walk in and get a slice though (wish they were). It’s more of made to order for wedding and special occasion cakes. But one time when i made an order I asked if they did have any cakes and that is when I tried the red velvet slice :)
The full cakes I’ve had have been decorated beautifully! Their frosting is not all sugary (it’s like a whipped buttercream) and the cake has always been moist.

My wedding cake was fabulous thanks to CAKE! Mine and my husband’s compromise was the banana cake with a hazelnut crunch in the middle of the cake. Our guests raved over our cake. The design was exactly as I wanted. Thanks CAKE! I made several calls to adjust my order over the last few months before my wedding and the staff was super helpful and answered all my questions without getting annoyed with me. I highly recommend CAKE!

Came here for a wedding cake tasting with my son and his fiancé. We were greeted warmly and Kimberly brought out plenty of cake for us to try. The banana truffle flavor is amazing, as is a chocolate filling that is slightly crunchy. I think it has toffee in it. Mmmmmmmm. I’m not a big sweets eater, but I can hardly wait for their wedding to try all the flavors they picked out!

There is nobody more talented or creative. Their wedding cakes are world class. So crazy humble too.

Let me say that I LOVE the wedding cake they made!!! I asked for something very similar to what they’d already made and featured on their website, and got their coconut cream and berries cake. It was absolutely delicious and gorgeous! They were not the easiest to reach, but they came through and I am so thrilled with the result. Will definitely be coming to them again. The cake was a beautiful piece of art!

Best decision ever. I’m happy I went with this company to make our cake. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. From the design to the flavor everything was magnificent. Will I be returning for more business? YEEEESSSSS

This was my first time ordering a custom cake and I LOVED IT. Kimberly was very patient with me and helped pick out flavors and gave me suggestions on which frostings to use for the vision I had in mind. I absolutely LOVED how my cake turned out… She created a cake that was truly a work of art and the taste was divine. We will definitely recommend you (my friends have your contact info already) and can’t wait to order more cakes in the future…

Impressed with our halloween cake! I just downloaded it from the internet, gave them a picture and there it is after a month, beautiful and yummy! Customer service is excellent and the baker was really nice and easy to talk to (she doesn’t force her ideas into you)

The cakes my sister in law ordered for my niece and nephew were so adorable! One was passion fruit flavored and the other one was banana… I loved the banana one– so moist and yummy. The decorations were really nice. I’m sure they were expensive, but worth it!
