I went to this café to get a soy chai latte and a croissant. I asked if I could get a soy chai latte, but barista said she didn’t have soy milk, only almond. Okay, I’m flexible… I asked for a decaf coffee instead. She said she could do that. Then I asked if they had croissants, she said they didn’t but they did have bagels. Cool, toasted with butter sounds good to me. She rang me up for the order and then she started to make the coffee when she realized that they had in fact ran out of decaf. Seriously? Okay, that’s fine. Again, I’m flexible, I already paid. So ordered a tea. She brought it out with my bagel. So I leave, with my hot tea and extra hot bagel with butter. Okay, fine, it’s still a hot drink with a breakfast type bread. I wait on my tea, because shit is hot. I start in on my bagel that was unreasonably hot for a toasted bagel. As I unwrap it from the foil I realize that it had been microwaved. Microwaved. Who microwaves a bagel? Especially at a café. SHEDIDN’T EVENCUTITINHALF! But it makes sense, since she microwaved a bagel… I guess. The butter she gave me to put on it was frozen, and since the bagel wasn’t even cut in half I couldn’t put the butter in between to soften it up. Great. So my breakfast bread is now chewy, way too hot and therefore inedible. UUUUGGGHHHH. I wait a bit longer on my tea. I forgot what type I got but it was very good. Two star rating breaks down like this — one star for the tea and another star for the location. I won’t bother going here again, unless it’s for tea.

Excellent food, turkish coffee and service. A phenomenal local and independent joint. These places enliven our communities and enhance the quality of our lives.

Came here for breakfast the first day of 2016. I ordered an omelette and a side of bacon. When the waitress brought my food she said«he’s being difficult and doesn’t want to give me your bacon.» And I didn’t really understand what she meant by that since I paid for a side of bacon. Once she brought the bacon I laughed a little because I didn’t know if she was serious. The pieces were tiny and gross looking. I was scared to try them. The food was horrible and the service was just as bad. I don’t recommend ever coming here. Wayy overpriced for the food you get.

Just had the roasted half chicken. Excellent dish that comes with rice and salad. All the food I have at Café Cabaret is excellent! I get carry-out several times a week. I Highly recommend the chicken shawarma or the veggie pizza.

I’m always here to study. Best place to study honestly– big tables, great service and outlets everywhere. Just had the garlic chicken sandwich and it was amaaaazing. The chef Shamal hooked it up with extra meat and really good lentil soup. He is the best chef in San Diego! Everyone who works here is so friendly and welcoming. I come here like multiple times a week and never get bored.

If you haven’t come to Café Cabaret please check them out. I’ve come here for about 5 years and always love to come back. Amazingly they have added this absolutely delicious stewed goat to their menu that you absolutely must taste. Don’t worry vegetarians and vegans. There are plenty of great options here as well. This isn’t your normal coffee shop. Props to Eyob and much respect to Chef Shamel K.

It somehow feels more disappointing when you see the unused potential in a place. I have lived with in walking distance of the café for almost 6 years. The problem is the service. And its not the fault of the sweet girls who work here, management is just sloppy. Sunday morning and there is one person working at place that has a full menu, juice and espresso bar. Get it together guys. I can never depend on having an enjoyable experience. The food is great, the location is nice, but come only if you have plenty of patience and time.

It wasn’t too busy when I came in. It’s a good ol’ Adams ave. Café place and I was definitely satisfied with my veggie pizza and service! I’m not sure how it would be if the café was super crowded but i did enjoy having the place to myself! Definitely coming back when i need to hit the books!

I use to love this place. It was great when it first opened up. However… Its a hit or miss now. And when he owners not there… The quality isnt great. I dont think hes aware of how inexperienced the people he is hiring are. Very inconsistent even when it comes to making a simple vietnamese coffee.

My rating is solely based on their Latte which is to die for. Definitely one of the best Lattes I’ve ever had. It’s not a long wait for your drink, even with a line for ordering.

Love their Mediterranean Pizza, and the Gyro meat has hints of lemony citrus, which makes it a step above the regular gyro you get elsewhere. I’m so happy I moved into the neighborhood, so I can have this any time I want!

Absolutely delicious! I’ve only done take out but it’s been ages since I found a place like this with great Lebanese food. The garlic mayo type stuff they serve with the chicken? So good! I love the veggie plate too.

Service wasn’t terrible(the girl who served me was actually very nice), but the food is just okay for what you pay for. Maybe I should’ve gotten falafel or something but this isn’t the best Middle Eastern food I’ve eaten. I was bummed. I have been wanting to try this place for a while but never got around to it because I live on the opposite end of Normal Heights. So when I finally came I kinda got my hopes up. On the upside, there is lots of nice seating(both indoors and outdoors), you get a nice view of Adams Avenue, and their hours are from the early morning to mid-evening. So you have plenty of time to try this place out. Haven’t tried their coffee yet, but I’ll get around to it eventually…

I wanted to like this place because it’s close to me, but I was disappointed. The service was almost non-existent. When I arrived the man behind counter was reading the paper and I waited a few minutes while I looked at the menu and I finally had to get his attention to take my order. I guess its possible he didn’t see me standing there and/or hear me come in. I ordered an iced coffee and the chicken salad. You can’t really screw up iced coffee so that was okay, but the salad did not look appetizing and was not very good. It was bland and had only iceberg lettuce a few tomatoes and white onion plus the chicken had a weird seasoning on it that gave it a red color. On top of that, none of the tables were wiped off and clearly the man reading the paper had time to do so. The only reason I would go back is for the free wifi and a coffee.

Café Cabaret is a nice little café/coffee shop nestled near the 15 on Adams. It can be easy to pass and unless you know the area, finding parking can be a bit of an enigma. The amount of beverages offered and variety of pastries are great but I found the quality just alright. However, the prices are very good here so you are definitely getting a good value and I found the service pretty good. The interior throws me off a bit, as if they are trying to cram a lot more than they need to in the place. I would like to see them rearrange the layout and just have fresher pastries. The ones I got tasted a little stale, either that or they just make their pastries tough. Overall, Café Cabaret is a descent coffee shop and if you enjoy local café’s, then I would say try it out.
