Bruce Hofbauer – State Farm Insurance Agent

Worst experience ever. I have been with this company for almost 10 years and never really needed them or had problems until now and the way it has been handled is why they get a one star. I recently went on maternity leave earlier than expected so I was not prepared for the short income or waiting periods from the state. However most companies have grace periods which is great. I used the grace period for March payment and was sent paperwork for automatic payments again which I was on when I was working but I hadn’t signed up with the edd card yet because I was trying to figure out when the pay dates were. Anyways I have not signed the contract they sent yet. Went to go grocery shopping for my family and found out I couldn’t what money I had left was gone. Guess what State Farm took it. When I called on ⁴⁄₂₈ i was told I would be refunded and I told them I was planning on paying on the grace period again. The refund was supposed to be returned in 3 days. ⁵⁄₀₁ it’s the 3 rd day my fridge is empty and I need baby wipes and still no refund. I call and now I’m told they have changed their mind and that I can call my bank and dispute it but they don’t feel like they did anything wrong. I call my bank and they said it will take up to 90 days to get it back. I call the insurance again and no I’m not nice at this point I’m furious I speake to Suzanne who now tells me I need proof they took it??? Why was none of this information given to me 3 days ago? Why is it every time I call the story changes. Now when I ask why they felt they could take my money when I never authorized it for this card they said well you didn’t say we couldn’t??? Excuse me but I’m sure in court that won’t hold up. I’m 8 months pregnant on bed rest and I have a family to feed I did nothing wrong in this situation so who’s side is a judge going to take? You guys should be ashamed of yourselves treating customers like this. I should have known when this happened before that you would do something very similar. That’s another story but to keep it short the double charged me once and wouldn’t refund I didn’t mind since I was getting my full income but goes to show you what money grabbers they are.

We have been with Bruce and his team for many years and have been for the most part pleased with their service for our personal and business insurance. Since we have had no major events to speak of (that’s a good thing insurance-​wise) we have had minimal opportunity to have contact.
Recently we made a few significant policy changes and additions, and we needed the attention. It turned out that Bruce’s back office team needed a quick response from me but our phone system didn’t make the connections. After receiving an email from Sandy indicating their document needs and a quick simple note that our phone system was down, I promptly paid their office a visit to finish the paperwork and to find out what was going on with our phones.
It turned out that our phone connections were just disturbed for only a few hours that day. We would have not known anything about it had it not been for Sandy doing what she does everyday, watching for our best interest.

My experience with Bruce and his staff was quick and the best rate I found to insuring my new business. Not only was this done in a matter of a few days, not only were they the first to respond to my request for a quote, and not only did they give me the most comprehensive and inexpensive quote, they also had Bruce there to look at the property later that week. We recently were intorduced to Bruce and his team through a business partner as we were searching for very hard to come by insurance endorsements for a paticular contract we were pursuing. After Bruce and his team tirelessly working to get us what we needed I asked him about personal auto insurance. We had Allstate and were frustrated with computers trying to answer our questions. In only a few hours, Geoff (the auto guru) got us a quote which FAR beat Allstate and we were signed and covered. It was a great experience and it is SOOO nice to be able to communicate with an amazing office of humans that know your name :) DEFINITELY would recommend Bruce and his team!
