Prompt good service, Coffee was decent, Oatmeal was really good. Eggs on point. Over medium just like I like. Very attentive with coffee refill, I couldn’t really ask for better. Price to quality ratio’s are right on point. 5 stars all the way. I’ll definitely be back.

This restaurant has the best breakfast hands down!
I went on New Years Day so the wait was probably longer than usual but was totally worth it!
I got the spinach omelet, with hashbrowns and toast and it was amazing!
I can’t wait to come back for breakfast again. I heard there waffles are really big so I want to try that next time I go.
The staff were really friendly and got us everything we needed.

This is a solid breakfast place if you’re in the neighborhood. My son had pancakes and my wife and I both had omelettes and everything was tasty and the service was very good. It’s also reasonably priced.
It’s Allied Gardens so you’re not going to get an ultra modern façade or décor so bear that in mind. But if you’re looking for simple, good food then this is a great choice to make.

The food here is so good but the service was actually horrible, mind you my boyfriend and I are both servers. We were probably the youngest couple in the restaurant and probably would have tipped our waitress well if she had even bothered to ask us how everything was. We watched her be very attentive to every other table she had and we couldn’t even get some more water from her or the bus boy who walked by multiple times… I’m disappointed to say I’ll never go back. It’s not that hard to simply walk by and check on a table. I still left her a 20% tip to show her to not treat younger couples like trash.

Pretty bad wayy over easy eggs and 19.42 bill :(like water in the eggs. Worst breakfast I’ve had in San diego like really? 19.42 for 3 pancakes watered up eggs I asked for over easy but these were well under done. and 4 pieces of bacon. Not good. Like bad eggs you take a look at the pic.

I was pretty much fooled by the outdated look of this place, reminding me of Denny’s. Lots of old people here for breakfast/​brunch, boring vibe so I wasn’t expecting much. My sister, the SD local, likes this place.
Was going to order half a turkey sandwich and soup but they don’t serve soup till 11am so I got the Waffle with fresh strawberry toppings and whipped cream. My sister knew what she wanted: French toast with blueberry toppings and some country fried potatoes.
I must say… my waffle was out of this world delicious. Crispy, hot-​out-​the-​iron, soft inside and the strawberries couldn’t be fresher. All I needed was a giant piece of fried chicken and I would’ve been set! The French toasts were perfectly made and the country fried potatoes (the only salty dish on the table) were beyond excellent. I seldom have potatoes so good. What a treat.
The service was quick and polite, a smooth dining experience. I brought half my waffle home and popped it in the toaster oven the next day (after refrigeration) and it was still good.

Poor and slow service, no refill offered, asked for chewy bacon and received crispy bacon that was nearly burnt, scrambled eggs were overcooked and they charge for cheese (wtf), biscuit was overcooked too. Gravy was good and grits were decent. Took forever just to get a box to take food home. There are many breakfast spots in San Diego that are better than this one. Take your pick. Just don’t waste your money here.

This is an excellent breakfast place. It has the homey diner feeling to it. The service is friendly and fast! I personally like the omelettes the best, but they do make some delicious pancakes as well. Oh, and their homemade pies are a must try. Go here!

Used to go there every single Sunday for breakfast! Their grandma Jennie pancakes are to die for. Always good service :) and a lot of customers.

Had the California Benedict with hash browns. Bacon was crispy, eggs was perfectly poached, avocado was premium and generous, sauce was alright. Very generous portions for the price. Grandma Jenny’s pancakes are heavenly. Fluffy and buttery, so flavorful. Places like broken yolk pancakes taste dry and like nothing

My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant on a Wednesday morning. It was my first time there, but I have passed by the restaurant so many times driving on Waring Rd. If you’re like me, and frequent the area often, you should definitely stop by! I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant and I would definitely come back.
The inside of the restaurant is not incredibly ostentatious but it does give a kind of old-​school diner feeling. It looks a little like a banquet room, and when we stopped by around 12 PM-​1 PM, it was reasonably busy.
I ordered a California Benedict which I got with hash browns (you can pick between fruit or hash browns!) and my boyfriend got the Biscuits and Gravy Combo. I thought my meal was pretty great! The Benedict was made perfectly and was super flavorful. The Hash Browns were pretty good, but not too crispy. I also stole a few bites off my boyfriend’s plate and his food was not bad as well!
Overall, a really nice experience in this place. The environment felt nice to be in and the staff were all courteous and helpful. Definitely will be back!

Solid Americans breakfast and great service. Only issue was that several utensils were dirty/​greasy and lip marks on glasses. Hopefully just an off day for the dishwasher.
Otherwise great place, I would recommend on food, service and price.

My fiancé and I had breakfast here on Memorial Day. Instead of getting my normal eggs, toast and hashbrowns I got the California eggs Benedict. I loved it! Anytime an avocado is in my meal it’s going to be great. He got steak and eggs.

This place is really some good home cooking. Sorry but theres no crazy new age food. So that being said, its Diner food and its good. I love coming here for breakfast cause I knoe im not going to get a big waiting list just to get seated. Not like many of the brunch places in SD
My faviorte here are the pancakes, however the previous time to this last time I went I didnt think the pancakes were as great as they normally were. So this last time i went I realized there were two different types of panckaes, grandama jennies (buttermilk) and pancakes (regular), well duh! Definately get the buttermilk. The banana-​nut pancakes are also really good.
The staff is really nice and attentive. I would definately be coming back!

I honestly would give this place a higher rating if service weren’t so slow. I’ve been here several times and no matter how empty or busy the place is, I feel there is a wait to get our food or even to be greeted. But if you want a good homecooked meal, this is the place to get it. Instead of «Brother’s Family Restaurant» it should be called «Grandma’s Place» or something like that. Between the décor and the all american dishes, I envision a little old lady cooking in the back. mmmm… now I am hungry.

The service here is horrible. I was standing in line with my family as the waitress took the elderly people who walked in after us.
It was ironic because I noticed an old lady struggling with the door while I was waiting in line. I rushed over to help her in. She walked in without thanking me and then the waitress sat the lady before my family and me.
The food is straight out of a Sysco can so anyone who thinks it is good better have their taste buds calibrated at Ruth’s Chris.

This place is very good for what you pay for, but be careful what you order. Some of it is just so so. I would say the pancakes are the best. Grandma Jenny’s cakes with walnuts and apples. Deeeelicious. The best I’ve ever had? Not at all. I’ve had breakfast there twice and each time it was good but not noteworthy. One time I had omelets that were so subpar I never wanted to go again, however, my husband insisted since he loves it at Brothers and we went one more time, where I had a taco omelette. I have to say, I never would have thought to put together that concoction, but it was good. Again, not amazing just, so so.
We have also ordered their dessert many times and it was so tiny that I had a little tear in my eye for what I paid. My husband and I fought over the last bite. Good? Yeah. But I think it was more the fact that we both wanted to have that last bite. The food is inexpensive, but the desserts are quite pricey if you think about the size that you get.
To reiterate, the food is «good». Definitely not 4 stars worthy. I would go there again because I like their pancakes a lot and their prices are even better. The daily specials are awesome. But I wouldnt come here if another better restaurant was in the area. There’s just not much around this area to go to. Mona Lisa’s? Yeah, but you can’t get pancakes.

This is a great American breakfast diner. The place is super classic and puts out some awesome breakfast staples like pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, etc.
They have some nice large rooms for bigger groups.
Prices are nice and low but you still get a great meal.

Came here for an early morning Saturday breakfast after a hike up Cowles.
Reviews here said the pancakes were great, and a pancake lover I am, I was intrigued. We seated ourselves and the lovely waitress came up to offer us drinks, requested their coffee. Coffee came out luke warm, and didn’t taste the best, it was kinda alright. We checked the menu out, figured out what we were going to get. Friend went with a omelet and I decided on the pancake combo with eggs/​bacon.
Food came out quick, unfortunately they added «butter» to the top of the pancakes, it really didn’t look like butter though, had a weird yellow tint to it. They also smeared tons of butter on the English muffin, why can’t they put that stuff on the side? Butter aside, the food wasn’t too bad, was cooked well. The pancakes in my opinion weren’t anything to call home about, texture was okay, and the mix they used tasted fine, just didn’t raise any bar.
My friend enjoyed her omelet, they gave her plenty of veggies in her omelet and didn’t skimp on the avocado on top. Her side of fresh fruit didn’t include much variety of fruit, but most places don’t. My bacon and eggs were cooked great, and the eggs tasted pretty good with their spicy salsa.
Overall, the place serves up some good breakfast at decent prices. Service was great and we got in and out pretty fast. I just wouldn’t make a habit of returning here really.
