I ran in here on a lunch break to pick up food with a co worker because I saw that they had acai bowls. The atmosphere is 5 stars. This would be a nice place to sit and chat with a cup of coffee or a latte. They have a very large patio where they welcome dogs. I’d consider coming back for that reason. The food was not great. 2 stars there. I got an acai bowl. Waaaay overpriced for the size with too much granola and a little skimpy on bananas and strawberries. Tasted good but not impressive. My co worker got the chili and she said it was alright. I got a mocha that was good but not the best ice had. Overall it was decent and the atmosphere is great if you’re going to hang out here. I’d go again if it was to sit and chat and have coffee. If you’re looking for lunch I’d pick some where else. If you’re looking for cute cozy coffee house that also has some food this is perfect.

A Light lunch, beautiful weather, and a little bit of people watching can be had in this quaint coffee shop. As someone who loves brick buildings, I come here from time to time. It’s been around for a long time, and for good reason. The people are nice and their sandwich wraps are delicious. On this particular visit I had the chicken salad wrap, which is a good size wrap for $ 8. The lettuce was fresh and crisp; the chicken salad chunky and creamy. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a view of the trolley station and the towering Hyatt towers. I like to sit outside and bask in the awesome San Diego weather. If you prefer to get away from the hectic and noisy vibes of popular chain coffee shops, this is the place to go!

First time here and I couldn’t order because one person was behind the counter taking orders and making beverages. Second time ordered some blueberries and they said it would take a long time because they only had one cook! 1 cup of blueberries!

I would love to give this place a better review, it seems so nice! But I had a few issues this morning with my breakfast to go. First, ordered a white mocha, but it had no flavor. I didn’t watch them make it, so I can’t say for sure, but it tasted like a plain latte. Not the worst thing, still delicious. Second, I ordered a breakfast burrito to go. It took about 20 minutes for it to be made, which just felt excessive. The worst though, was when I got home and started eating it. There we’re argue chunks of eggshells in the burrito — someone was careless when making it. Obviously I didn’t eat the rest. It smelled great, but the shell in my food was off putting to say the least.

We love coming to this place for coffee and a bite to eat. Not sure what happened today but the owner/manager need to be aware of what happened today. I ordered their special bagel without pesto because of a food allergy I have. When the lady brought out the bagel, it was loaded with pesto. No big deal, people make mistakes! I asked her to please prepare a new bagel without pesto because of my food allergy, but instead she went back scraped off some of the pesto and brought the same bagel out. REALLY??! That could have been a trip to the hospital. I hope the owner/manager explains the situation to his/her employees. This is a good place to eat but this could have been a dangerous situation.

A fan of their paninis & salads… also love the ambiance. The walk here from my old workplace was enough to revive my spirit from a busy, and sometimes stressful, morning. Great place for pet owners to have lunch. Also cool place to people watch

The only bad thing about this place is they close at 2. But it is very quaint and right next to the trolley so public transit and coffee made easy!

I came here early one Saturday morning since my bf dragged me out of bed at the crack of dawn because he had a wedding to go to and wanted to check this place out. It was too early for me to be hungry so I didn’t order any food, and I had every intent on going home and going back to sleep so I didn’t order coffee either. However, I did order a hot chocolate. It was a pretty good hot chocolate with lots of delicious whipped cream on top. The service was a little slow for what we ordered: a bagel(toasted) with butter, chai tea latte, and hot chocolate and the fact that it was a Saturday at 7am so needless to say the place wasn’t busy by any means. The server came over to us with somebody elses order before she brought our correct order out. Overall, this is a cute little place to stop by and grab a quick coffee or tea and a mediocre breakfast.

Nice place. Enjoyed hanging out on the patio with my pup. Coffee was good but nothing special. Food smelled great but I didn’t try anything. I will probably be back.

Dear Brickyard, thank you for existing. I know it can be tough being right next to the trolley with the ring-ring-ring 24/7, but you need to know how much you are appreciated. I’ve stumbled in more hungover than Avril Lavigne after a concert and your coffee-tea-bagels-breakfast are the lights at the end of my tunnel. Your iced tea is like waking up next to my favorite celebrity. If your chili or panini’s were people, I’d marry them. I guess fortunately since they are not, I will gladly continue to eat them. My best friend and I frequent your cute little establishment, and you probably hate us because we take all your iced tea.(its ok though, just know that we love you) LOVE, ANDY

I ate here three times in three days because it was soooo delicious… My husband brought me here after he tried the everything bagel with egg, cheese, turkey tomato, & onion. The first day I had the San Diego turkey & avocado panini and it was good. The second day, I brought a friend who had the California panini with chicken, cheese, tomato, and pesto, with chili as her side, and I had the signature bagel… and we both thought our meals were really good. The third day, my husband and I came back and I tried the California panini and he stuck with his original bagel, and our tastebuds danced! The food was consistently delicious! One tip, though– get your salad dressing on the side.

Love this cute little café that’s only a walk away from my place. Perfect for breakfast or simply to drink an ice tea. The patio tables have a perfect view of downtown San Diego The staff is always welcoming an friendly!

Came here with a co-worker for lunch and it was not too crowded. The café is cute. There is limited seating inside, but ample seating outside. Outside seating is nice! I prefer the outside seating. I got the San Diego panini. It was really good, but don’t know if it is worth the prie of $ 10 plux tax just for the panini. I believe with a side salad, it is around $ 12 plus tax. I definitely want to come back to try the coffee and breakfast. Warning, this place closes early around 2pm.

So good to be back in San Diego and visit this favorite coffee and breakfast café … It is just as awesome as we remember! Love the patio overlooking the light rail, and view of beautiful downtown. I had the veggie breakfast bake and hubs had the regular veggie bake — both were awesome. The rosemary sprig garnish is a nice touch.

Had some time to kill and needed some caffeine so decided to stop here after dropping my sister off at the airport. Lox Bagels are my favorite. A little too pricey at $ 12 but it was really delicious(not hard to mess up). Had a tuxedo mocha(half mocha half white) and it wasn’t the most delicious once I’ve had. But good. I wanted a Mexican one but they were out. Friendly service. Liked the atmosphere and location. Was lucky to find parking and only have to pay $ 1.25 an hour. Other than the price(since who wants to spend $ 17 on breakfast?), I really liked it.

I’m not a coffee snob… I just like good coffee. I guess I’m spoiled livin’ in The Bay with Philz and Blue Bottle available when I have a fiendin’ for some Iced Mint Mojito or some New Orleans-style Iced Coffee. While we were in San Diego for our vacation, I took my son to walk our dogs, Maxie and Francine, early one morning and to take care of their business. Just a few blocks from our hotel, I spotted this cute little place on the corner of the block and it drew me in. The brick building and structure stood out, and they also have a patio that is a dog-friendly place. The counter is located on the back left side from the main entrance, which was confusing because it was behind a wall and a bit out of sight. It’s weird because it felt like nobody was there to greet the customers and the staff appears to be hiding in the back. Well, that’s the impression that I got from the layout of the place. I asked the lady behind the counter on what’s their specialty drink(s) and she couldn’t give me an answer. OK… how long you been workin’ here? So I opted for two Soy Lattes instead while my son got a table in the patio along with our two dogs. There were some other locals at the time and they also brought their dog along so it was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the back, not so much by the counter. So I got our drinks and first sip left a lot to be desired. Second sip and it was flat. Maybe if the lady behind the counter suggested something better, it would have been a different experience. The location and area is great though… especially the patio where you can people-watch and check the trains pass by. The coffee could use a little more work and presentation. Will I come back? The patio is definitely a great place to be, and maybe next time they could hire someone who can be more helpful with their menu.

I am so done with this place. I live across the street and despite not the best service and long waits I’ve continued to give it chances. That ends today. Came in at 11:20 to pick my boyfriend up an acai bowl before the beach. Order and the woman says«We are only serving lunch.» I point to the menu which says breakfast until 11:30. She very rudely repeats«Yes but we have no fruit because we are only doing lunch…» No sorry, no smile. Just rudeness. I get it that it was close but how can you do that to a customer??? I said okay no thank you and left. Nothing. This place needs some serious cleaning of house if they want people to return. Did I mention the first time I ever came here two of the girls working behind the counter were searching for negative Unilocal reviews about the service, reading them aloud to each other and laughing making fun of the posts??? While I was standing ordering!?? That should have been a REDFLAG. Chances over. Do not come here!

I actually really enjoyed this place. We recently resumed our hunt for delicious lattes(and have expanded that to include delicious Acai bowls), and were forced by circumstance to try Brickyard. I know that makes it sound like we weren’t interested in stopping here, but we were. Just, not on this day. Still, they were open when we needed them to be, and their menu offered what we were looking for. Plus, the patio is dog-friendly, which was a bonus, as we had the mongrels in tow. So, hubs walks up to the counter… sounds like the opening line of a really bad joke. The joke here was, they only had one person working the front counter, so he got stuck behind the customer that could not, for the life of her, decide what she wanted to order. That was probably the longest wait we experienced. Once he was finally able to order(iced caramel coffee for me, latte for him, and an Acai bowl for each of us), we found a table on the patio that offered a bit of shade, and settled down. The mongrels were on their best behavior(I maintain they were too tuckered to be a nuisance), the chairs were comfortable-ish(they seem to have a shortage of cushions for the outdoor chairs, and I witnessed several people poaching pillows from previously vacated places), and it was quiet and laid back on the patio. The two bowls came out quickly enough, and they were huge. The first thing I noticed — besides the size of the bowls — was that they kept everything separate, which gave us the chance to mix fruits or granola in if we wanted. A minor touch, but much appreciated. The flavor was very good — the base wasn’t too sweet or over-powering, and it was just frozen and cold enough to add a bit of a bite. The accompanying fruits(strawberries, blueberries and bananas) balanced out the Acai base, and added a soft bite to the crunch of the granola. And the granola! I’m not usually one to sing the virtues of granola, but theirs is very good. Nutty and a tiny bit spicy and yummy! It was just so much food. I couldn’t finish my bowl! My drink was good, but a bit sweet. That’s on us though(I said, «Order me a drink you think I’ll enjoy»…) It got better as the ice melted. My husband did enjoy his latte, but I could tell it wasn’t his favorite. The only other thing I want to say is that while the girls working seemed efficient in their busy time, they weren’t exactly friendly. Now, I’m not looking for someone to be all chatty and up in my business, but it’d be nice to have your server crack a smile or show some personality when they stop by your table.
