Our caterer recommended Brett to us and I am so glad that she did. From the moment I spoke with Brett on the phone till the photos were delivered, I knew we were in the hands of a master photographer. Brett understands the business of wedding photography from many perspectives: the individual personalities, the creation of a mood, the preparation leading to the wedding, the timing and flow of the wedding, the specific choices of those being wed, the wedding as a show, the inclusion of the families and friends, the backup so as to not miss important shots, the delivery of the finished products of photos and albums, the availability of photos for friends and family to review, and the fun of it all. HIs photography is of the highest caliber; creative and true to the moment. When it comes to love that leads to a wedding, Brett connects the dots with his photos. We were direct with Brett about our desires for the photography, especially because we were two men being wed. Brett was flexible and cooperative. We couldn’t be happier with the results. From a business standpoint, Brett delivered on time and as promised, and we feel a professional and personal bond to him, and most grateful.

As my Husband and I started to think about planning our wedding, we didn’t know where to start. So, in hopes of learning what San Diego had to offer we headed to a Bridal Bizar event. With so many vendors and so much to choose from it is easy to feel overwhelmed at one of these events, but then we saw Brett. I was drawn to the great colors in his pieces and the beauty that he was able to capture. Then we had the pleasure of meeting him. He was so energetic and fun we were both smiling during the entire interaction.
After meeting with Brett one on one we were excited to book him for our engagement shoot and our wedding photos. My Husband and I are not always the greatest at taking photos, but half way into our photo shoot we were having a great time! Brett is great at giving direction so the pictures look natural but capture the best of you. Posing for pictures does take some effort but it was nothing compared to Brett, laying in the street or rolling in the sand, all to capture a perfect picture for us.
When we saw our engagement pictures my jaw dropped! They were better than anything I could have hoped for. Brett captured the fun, joy and love in such an amazing way. The lighting was wonderful, the colors were vivid and all of the little details were paid attention to. I was so happy to have so many great pictures that captured such an important moment in our lives.
The day of the wedding Brett’s team worked very diligently to capture as much as possible. They were polite and direct and somehow managed to get all of the sweet little moments as well as the big ones. From location to location Brett and his team never seemed to get tired or give less than 100% effort. They were always smiling even in the midst of what could be very stressful.
Our decision to work with Brett was by far the best and most important. Our pictures are incredible, they bring a smile to my face each time I see them. He was professional, fun and kind at all times. He is an incredible photographer and a good friend, I highly recommend hiring him.

Brett is a next level photographer! Not only does Brett and his staff execute the images with perfection, but they do it all while keeping a smile on the client’s face and a familiar comfortablility. Everyone knows how long a wedding day can be for a bride and groom, part of what makes it tough, is how many pictures they need to take. It is so important to capture the moments and momories, but it is not uncommon for clients to want to bail on this tradition. Brett and his team will not only capture all those moments in time but will keep you laughing through it all! He is professional and kind. Brett is great — excellent photographer, professional, calm and a joy to work with. He does an amazing job capturing those precious little moments that make your wedding special. I had an opportunity to work with Brett on the weeding over this past weekend and his work is impeccable.

We first met Brett at the 2013 Del Mar Bridal Bazaar and extremely happy we stopped at his booth. He clearly showed us that he had a strong passion for his work and knew he would be a perfect fit for our wedding. We absolutely loved how both the engagement and wedding photos turned out. The actual engagement signing book turned out a little too good and we didn’t want anyone marking it up. We ended up printing off one of the engagement photos for a signing frame. Brett was crawling on the ground and climbing the ladders trying to capture those perfect shots and we were very impressed with all his hard work. We used Brett as our wedding photographer and for our engagement shots. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend him and his team. He was very responsive always on time and met every deadline before it was due– which I LOVED!!! I’m heard from majority of other Brides they have to wait longer and have a hard time getting there photos, that was never an issue with Brett– true professional and loves his job. He is also a blast to work with, makes you feel very comfortable.

Brett is the best photographer one can ask for on the biggest day of a girls life!!! He is truly amazing at what he does and he makes you feel so beautiful in the process. He is very personable and will make picture taking actually a fun process. I was constantly laughing with him, which made all our pictures of our entire wedding party perfect with pearly white true smiles. He is pricey but you get what you pay for and what’s not pricey when it comes to a wedding. With a once in a lifetime event, the only thing you have to look back at are your pictures so you want them to be perfect and represent you well. You will never be disappointed with Brett and his assistant Chrissy, as there may not be two nicer individuals to work with. I have to say that I interviewed a lot of photographers for my wedding and hands down Brett was my pick. The thing that really stuck out for me with Brett was that when I began to talk with him about my venue and the style of photography I was looking for I could see the wheels in his head start to turn. He really made an effort to figure out what I wanted to see in my photos and gave me great advice/​recommendations for the shoot. Brett was very open to being creative with me and helped me to envision exactly what I was looking for. I also saw some of the photos he had taken of other weddings and events and knew that his talents spoke for themselves in his photography. My fiancé and I booked him right away and set up the date for our engagement shoot. Brett was very flexible with me when it came to changing the date of our shoot (since I did not have my outfit planned in time for the shoot) and went out of his way to accommodate us as much as possible. Our engagement shoot was a ton of fun and it was nice to have a photographer (Brett) who was not only talented, but had a fun and positive attitude the entire shoot. It is important I feel for the photographer one chooses to not only be talented in photography, but also a lot of fun to be around since they are sharing your wedding day with. When I got the photos back from our engagement shoot I could not believe how beautiful and cool the pics came out, and how my fiancé and I even looked as though we were modeling for a movie poster:) Brett exceeded my expectations and I am so excited that he will be there on my wedding day to capture our special moment. I give Brett 5 stars… and if I could I would give him 10!!! Thanks again Brett… you are awesome, amazing, fantastic, wonderful!!!:)

The appt. was a little challenging to get as I guess Brett was out of town initially, but once we got there he was very friendly, with a good sense of humor. We had the groupon deal, and frankly, I HATE having my picture taken, so the fact that it wasn’t miserable for me says a lot. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was there were a few of the pictures where my pants were not right (somehow one leg was higher up than the other) and I thought he should have noticed and mentioned it, and my hair was messy — which he told me not to mess with, he’d tell me if it was messy. I have a feeling he was just in a rush — he wasn’t going to let me change shirts initially but agreed to it (which I am sooo glad about since the new shirt photographed much better than the first).
Overall, my experience with Brett was well above average, and he got some good pictures for us, so I can recommend him — but if you get the groupon deal, be prepared to move pretty darned fast! :)

Best photographer you can get! We had him do our engagement/​wedding photos. His ideas for pictures and his professionalism are absolutely remarkable! I can’t wait to use him again soon!!!

My fiancé and I bought our rings at The Diamond Source in Old Town. As an added bonus, we were given a certificate for a free two-​hour engagement photo session with Brett Charles Rose. In November 2010, I emailed Brett to make an appointment. We both agreed that it would be best to wait until after the holidays, so we settled on January 15^th, 2:00, in Presidio Park.
I didn’t hear from Brett after the first of the year, and I wondered if maybe I should confirm the date with him, but I decided to take it on faith that we were confirmed. I was a little surprised to not receive any kind of confirmation email even in the days leading up to our shoot, but having never worked with a photographer, I figured he knew what he was doing and that it would be okay.
The Boy and I arrived at Presidio Park a few minutes before 2:00, found Brett and his assistant, and before we could say hello, Brett came up to us, extended his hand and said, «Morgan?»

Simple mistake, lots of people think my last name is Morgan, I thought. I said no, and tried to tell him my name, but before I could, Brett said, «Lindsay?» Swing and a miss.
I told him my name, but apparently I wasn’t on his books. He asked if I’d bought a Groupon, I said no, I didn’t even know he had Groupons. I reminded him of the free two-​hour engagement shoot certificate, and showed it to him. He had completely forgotten about us.
No problem, he assured us. He had appointments scheduled for 2:15, 2:45, and 3:15, so we’d have plenty of time to squeeze it in. What about our two hours???
Okay, fine, it was rushed, but it was kinda fun. We’re not the best models, and The Boy had a hard time relaxing, but we made the best of it. When we finished, there were two – TWO – different groups waiting to have their pictures taken. We felt bad, like we had intruded on someone else’s time. We were promised an email with proofs within a week, and we left. It was like a whirlwind.
Three weeks and two emails later, still no proofs. I finally heard back from him as the fourth week crept up, and he asked why we hadn’t accessed our photos… umm…because nobody ever told us where they were or how to see them?!
In a word, I was disappointed. The photos themselves are… okay. Both The Boy and I look completely washed-​out, and trust me, homegirl had a serious tan goin’ on. There are several where we’re clearly not looking at the camera, or at even the same focal point. The work looks rushed, because it was. I felt that Brett and his assistant were incredibly disorganized, and it showed through in our photos. Such a shame. We had really, really high hopes.
I know that we didn’t pay for the session, but I still felt a bit robbed. If you’re going to give out certificates promising a two-​hour engagement session, you need to be able to provide that service, not squeeze someone in with all your Groupon shoots in one afternoon. Needless to say, we didn’t purchase any of the photos. Blah.

My cousin wanted me to help find her a wedding photographer. From the moment we met Brett, I knew we were going to have an amazing photography session. He has the energy and passion that most photographers lack and his work shows it. His albums are amazing! We had the best time with Brett… he is so creative and relaxed, which makes you so comfortable throughout the shoot. And most of all, we had SO much fun… that’s what it’s about afterall, right?
He is able to capture everything you want and more. I would recommend Brett to anyone, and not just for weddings. Like I said, it’s hard to find passionate people who are on-​time and follow through with their promises. And what a difference that makes. The wedding pictures are amazing. Thank you, Brett, for making my cousin’s wedding that much more special!

I bought into a Groupon Brett had going. Making the appointment was painless enough, we had ours taken outdoors at the park. The photo session itself was quick and easy and Brett was friendly and professional. I wanted additional prints besides what came with the Groupon, and his prices were very reasonable.
Then, as promised, a few days later I received the email with the link to our photos. The pics are great, but really nothing anyone with a decent camera could have done. This is why I knocked off one star.
The other star comes off because of the service that happened once I emailed my order as a reply to the email with the link to the pictures. I didn’t get a confirmation email, so a couple of days later I called, left a voicemail and didn’t hear back. The next day I called again and spoke to Brett. He found the email and confirmed the order that way. But then later that day, I received a voicemail from him saying he didn’t receive my email and could I call him back… wtf? Was it my voicemail delivering late, or??? I called the next morning and spoke with an assistant who said he would call back, but he didn’t. When I finally tracked down Brett, he said the photos were ready. When I arrived on Monday at 10am, (when Brett said they opened without advising that I should set up a time to pick up the pictures), he arrived late. Then there was more disorganization with payment… Really, get it together!
Of course this whole time Brett and his assistant were very friendly and apologetic, but I won’t be seeking him out in the future.
UPDATE: Brett saw my Unilocal review and offered me another session or my money back. The apology is appreciated, but I don’t need my money back and really don’t want to bother with another session. Still «A-​OK» as the three stars indicate.

We interviewed a lot of photographers for our wedding. When it came down to it, we wanted a photographer who knew his stuff, did great work and also had a great personality — after all, he was going to be there for our wedding, pointing a camera at us.
Brett was by far the best fit for us. During the initial consultation, he met with my fiancé and I, walked through his work (he produces the most amazing wedding albums) and also shared some great tips with us about how to get the best photos. In fact, he inspired us to rent hotel rooms the night before so that we would have a clean space for great prep photos.
The best part was, he is flexible. When I had a hair fiasco at the salon the day before our engagment shoot, he completely understood and allowed us to reschedule.
Bottom line is I would recommend him. If you are looking for a photographer, the best thing you can do is to set-​up a meeting with him at the very least. Check out his work and you’ll surely be impressed!

Brett was our wedding photographer for our wedding in March 2008 and also photographed our engagement photos. It took a lot of interviewing and time to find him. Out of all the other photographers and so-​called One Stop Shops (where you can get a photographer, videographer, dj), Brett was the only one who answered our questions without us asking them. Brett’s work truely does speak for itself. He completely thinks «out of the box». No shot is ever the same. We even incorporated our yellow lab, Piper, into our engagement shots. He was so energetic and patient with our wedding party and the videographer he had to work with.
There is nothing that you want more out of your wedding, but to have that moment perfectly captured. Without a doubt, Brett saw our moments and captured the whole feeling and activities of our special day. I still constantly look at our photos, and I can feel that day over and over again (the happiness, the excitement, the love.)
We can’t begin to thank Brett enough for the beautiful pictures he took, from our first meeting (at the Bridal Bizaar) to the beautiful friendship we have developed since that meeting. Brett is someone that is very easy to work with (which is extremely important on a very stressful day), he’s fun, and was great with everyone from the kids to our older guests.
I would and do completely recommend Brett for future weddings or even just to capture any occasion.

Brett Charles Rose did a fantastic job at my best friends wedding! He was very personable, friendly, energetic, professional, and THOROUGH!!! Upon arrival Brett and his assistant began with taking pictures of the dress, shoes, bouquet, etc. all in a very artistic, intelligent fashion. As preparations for the big moment passed Brett was right there catching every moment; hair, make-​up, getting in the dress (lacing up the back,) and so on. He took tons of pictures of the wedding party in various poses, groupings and stages of readiness. Next Brett went to photograph the men. After the ceremony Brett guided the bride, groom, and wedding party down to a rocky area to take a massive amount of pictures with the Pacific Ocean spray splashing up on rocks behind us. Through the reception he was great as well. The pictures are posted less than a month later online and they are… absolutely perfect. The bride has told me that after seeing the pics she’s now considering being a model. What more could you ask for?

Exceeded our expectations, and dispelled our fears.
Don’t know if I can say enough about Brett to underline the fact that he is truly amazing at what he does. We interviewed 5 photographers for our multi-​cultural (muslim/​christian, redneck/​persian) wedding, and both of us agreed on Brett. We didn’t want an historian or someone who needed direction from us, rather a professional photographer who new exactly what to do and could actually direct us to create the scenes for hundreds of truly amazing photographs.
Brett has a way of making everyone around him relax, have fun, and be confident that everything will be okay. Then he over-​delivers on your expectations. What more could you want on your wedding day?

Brett was my wedding photographer and he did a fantastic job! All of my friends who attended my wedding noticed that he was energetic, fun and had great ideas for photo shoots. When my photos were available online to view shortly after the wedding my friends also commented on how gorgeous the photos looked.
I met Brett in March of 2008 at a bridal bazaar in San Diego, CA. He was the first photographer I met with and decided to compare him to other photographers that also attended the bridal bazaar. Hands down Brett was the most hip, non-​pushy, professional photographer there. You can tell he loves his job; it shows in his photo portfolios.
I would highly recommend Brett to anyone looking for a great photographer. He goes above and beyond for his clients.
