Bodhi Veterinary Clinic & Animal Hospital

I have been taking both of my dogs here for a couple of years. Their schedule and weekend availability makes it easy for me to get an appointment quickly. The staff is always friendly and answers all of my questions. I also appreciate that they call after an appointment to follow up and make sure my fur babies are doing well and see if I have any questions.

Caring and knowledgeable staff. They provide a great service, saved my boy Lucky. Love these folks.

So I thought I had previously written a review of this place, but I guess I was mistaken. Anyway, my boyfriend and I had a pretty bad experience here when we took our cat Sora for his first vet visit in over a year. We got him from a foster family of the Siamese Rescue group and they told us he had likely been mistreated for the first several months of his life before they got him. Since he’s been with his foster mom, he’s never come out from hiding other than to eat and use the litter box. People have tried adopting him, but they’ve all returned him because of his lack of socialization with them. Even the foster mom had a lot of difficulty getting him to the vet, let alone showing him to prospective adopters, because she couldn’t get him out of hiding most of the time.
When we took him to Bodhi, we told them he was a very anxious and timid cat. The vet tech opened the cage and tried to take him out. When she finally did, he BOLTED. The exam room had a little ledge on the top of the room about an inch or two wide, and Sora managed to jump up from the counter onto the ledge, breaking off a nail in the process. The room wasn’t designed well for cat exams, it seemed. When he fell down and ran to a corner, the vet tech tried to grab him around the waist. He hissed at her and she continued to approach him in the corner with a blanket. She wrapped the blanket around him, and that’s when Sora turned around and bit her hand.
After the vet tech left the room, my boyfriend calmly approached Sora, who was cowering on the top of a cabinet, and coaxed him back into his crate. Afterwards, the vet came in and told us they would have to sedate him to continue the exam. But since they weren’t even able to do a check up, they didn’t want to give him any drugs. So they told us to take him home, schedule another day to come back, and to give him half a Benedryl before bringing him in again. Then the vet said that assuming he was docile enough at that point, she could do an exam and drug him up more for any further procedures that may be needed, which would of course cost extra.
Then they told us that as protocol for the bite, they had to call animal control, who may or may not have to contact us for an interview on what happened. They said they may direct us to quarantine him or proceed in other ways. not really sure what that meant, but we left and decided to try elsewhere. The staff seemed pretty scared after that.
We ended up taking Sora to the VCA Angel Hospital in North Park today. They were AMAZING. Sora was so still the whole time, no drugs needed. The vet tech grabbed him by the scruff (probably what Bodhi staff should have done) and every procedure went extremely smoothly. They were obviously much more experienced with cats at VCA.
I’m not saying that the Bodhi clinic was bad in general, I’m just saying that if you have a difficult cat, they are definitely not equipped structurally or staff-​wise to handle tougher cases. So to give them the benefit of the doubt, 2 stars for their friendly staff and nice looking facility. Probably a really good place to take dogs and less anxious animals.

Bodhi vet truly deserves all the accolades they have received. I was dog sitting for a friend and I had to bring the dog in for some intestinal issues of which I will spare the details. Dr. Lorber and staff were highly professional, approachable, and efficient. And most importantly – the dog LOVED him. An added bonus is that Bodhi did not nickel and dime us to death, despite showing up on an emergency basis. It is a cash business and I appreciate their integrity. I am seriously considering switching my own dogs to this vet now.

Pro: Great staff and vet which were attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed the fact the vet was examining my dog and had so much patience with both my dogs. She seemed organized.
Cons: the vaccines were expensive.

Great service, and vets aren’t completely detached from «normal» terminology. Took my barley here and they did everything and more to meet my needs. Prices are fair enough.

My previous vet had retired so when I adopted my new pups from the Barking Lot Rescue, they recommended Bodhi and we received free wellness checks for both. The office visits were free but the tests they «needed» were not and the pricing seemed quite high. I really like the staff and the aesthetics of the facility are very nice but I do think the pricing is high in general. I also recently brought my 10 y/​o cat in after he was in a cat fight, all went well. I want the best advocates for my pets so I’ll continue to go there despite the higher cost, as long as I feel they’re receiving the best care.

Very happy with our dog’s teeth cleaning. Special circumstances meant a little extra care was needed and the staff preformed an excellent job!

Have had positive experience with Bodhi. Place can be a bit over-​priced but my advice is to listen to the vets carefully and ask which tests, treatments, meds are absolutely necessary. Then, make your decision once you have this information. Sometimes, they recommend a Mercedes when a Toyota would be just fine for your pet. Other than that, I have only compliments for the quality of care and the friendliness of staff.

This past week my baby girl Billie was not feeling well and I had to take her to a Vet, my previous vet was unable to fit her in so I reached out to Bodhi Veterinary Clinic, they where able to fit Billie in the same day. I also brought my other dog Frankie with Billie (Frankie has separation anxiety and cries when he is separated from Billie). The staff accommodated both of my dogs and let Frankie stay with Billie the whole time. The staff were kind and efficient. Billie was diagnosis promptly and now is getting treated. The whole staff was amazing.

The staff here is very nice, very friendly and easy to talk to. They keep convenient hours and their prices are reasonable.

BODHI VETERINARY CLINIC and ANIMAL HOSPITAL spayed our «new» packmate adopted over the weekend. very professional staff. throughly explained follow-​up protocols. made it clear they were available ²⁴⁄₇ for any questions or concerns. comfortable, well-​decorated waiting room and an attentive, engaging staff.
told my wife their place is nicer than where we go for bipedal medial issues (i.e. our family doctor’s offices).
KAISER/​ZION should hire their decorator …

Immediately felt welcomed by the reception desk. I was seen within an hour of my call for help (Yorkie had bad guts). Technician was courteous. The space is clean and bright. I have been in some pretty messy, unclean examination rooms over the years. So far so good. I recommend this place.

I never spend much time thinking about a vet clinic until my cat got sick 6 months ago and then I completely panicked. I had been here once before for my cat and had a decent experience, but it was when my poor little cat got super sick that I began to appreciate Bodhi. My poor cat stopped eating, drinking, didn’t use the bathroom for close to 24 hours, and had a lot of discharge coming out of his tush. I apologize because I know the details are gross, but I didn’t know what to do!!! I called and got an immediate appointment and was so thankful that they had openings so soon. My friend had recommended Bodhi to me, they were more neutral on the clinic, but my experience was very positive. The doctor was calm, knowledgeable, very reassuring, and was mindful of my budget. She helped me decide to just put him on meds and avoided doing any full diagnostic testing right away and basically told me if the medications helped him we wouldn’t really need to know exactly what he had gotten. Luckily the medications worked and so I saved hundreds of dollars. If the meds had not worked I would have had to take him back. She called me herself the next day to check on everything. I was very impressed with their service and her kindness in my time of sheer panic and anxiety.
My only complaint is that their waiting room is a bit tough on my cat, he is in his little carrier freaking out, and customers who bring in their dogs on leashes are able to roam more freely around and I am sure that my poor guy is having a complete and total meltdown being in such close proximity. I am not sure how this could be solved, but I think these trips are harder on animals that are indoor only as compared to animals that are more comfortable being taken everywhere.

So far I have had a bad experience with them. I have reached out to them twice and have found that each time they would only give the most expensive service. I moved from North County San Diego where I have a great vet. My cat has kidney disease and I need KD food for her and bring her in for periodic basic kidney function labs to monitor her condition. I have a prescription for the food and copies of the regular blood panels.
Bohdi refused to honor the prescription from another vet, which was only written a few days ago!!! Unprofessional! They also would only do the most expensive blood work panel though it is more than we need. They pretty much said «too bad». Needless to say, we went back to our North County vet and will not go to Bohdi. Seems to me that they are all about the money.
We absolutely love our vet. If anyone is looking for a new vet in North Inland I am happy to refer them to our vet. Still looking for a closer vet.

I’m a HUGE fan of Bodhi Veterinary Clinic! l Their beautiful facility puts you at ease as soon as you walk in — notice the water basin filled with fresh flowers, almost spa-​like. Everyone is super friendly displaying a genuine love for animals. I have 3 cats (God, help me) and have been bringing them in for routine annual exams and flea medication since I moved to the neighborhood a few years ago.
An emergency with my cat last month really proved just how great this practice is. Despite having someone checking up on them morning and night for feedings, I came home from a weekend vacation to find my 6 year old male cat Elmo on the floor of our bathroom unable to move or even speak. He was cold to the touch, smelled badly, covered in saliva, definitely spaced the $%&* out — he looked REALLY bad. My fiancé and I wrapped him in a blanket and jumped in the car, got Bodhi on the phone to alert them we were coming with an emergency situation, and by the time we arrived 5 minutes later they immediately rushed him back and began treating him. During these terrifying first few hours of reviving him they gave us frequent updates about his condition, and once he was stable brought us back to see him. Fortunately with IV fluids and warming blankets his condition was gradually improving with his temperature going from under 90 to 96 (102 is normal) and heart rate going from 60 to 120 (160 is normal) after just a few hours in their care. He was on the brink of death and they brought him back, giving him comfort and affection all throughout the process! Because they don’t do overnight care I had to transfer him to local animal hospital they recommended and fortunately, after over a week in that hospital and a pricey surgery, he’s back to his old self.
It turns out he had a urethral blockage which led to kidney failure which led to a bladder rupture. Urethral blockage is not uncommon for male cats but if symptoms are identified early (usually the cat appears drunk and starts salivating heavily) and they are given medical care promptly the situation can be easily resolved. Sadly, Elmo was likely suffering in pain for over 24 hours, which breaks my heart.
I highly recommend Bodhi, they were extremely capable, friendly, excellent communicators, and called regularly afterwards to check up on his condition. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I’m very impressed by this facility, alot of thought went into building this place and the interior feels calm cool refreshing, full of natural light and welcoming people. The service was great and I loved the tour where I saw the state of the art facility and heart of this vet practice, x-​ray room, surgery room, wash room pretty much looks like the inside of a high tech hospital BUT with a deserving and acceptable price tag.
The staff seems very cool and knowledgeable .
Even the architecture was very well thought out .
A very Zen theme a Buddhist air, which is an a plus in my book! skylights throughout which let natural light in and solar panels to get the best of what new energy technology has to offer; and succulent plants throughout.
I’m a happy customer, I almost felt like I didn’t want to leave and just sit on their über cool lounge.
