Their bean and cheese burritos are the best I’ve ever had! And their salsa verde? Heavenly.

Best Mexican food in this area. Everything I come to San Diego I go there. It is a whole in the wall but it is what I grew up on. Great food and a place and is a destination for me and my family.

Food was great but we had to leave because it was so hot inside it made me and my wife feel sick. Definitely recommend getting it to go.

Someone whose opinions I trust on these sorts of things told me that this was the place to go for a perfect bean burrito. So I went, and it was not. Perhaps it was just overhyped, but I was disappointed. The cheese was flavorless and rubbery. It would definitely have been better without. The beans were a little bland and the portion was not overly generous. There was no salsa bar, so I had to make do with the two tiny, little cups they provided. Even when the salsa is spicy I like my burritos drowning in salsa, and this stuff was mild. Also a little bland. In fact, «a little bland» sums up the whole meal. Oh well. The search for the perfect bean burrito continues.

Never disappoints. Got their breakfast burrito and it was delicious. Their carne asada and california burritos are also some favorites. Definitely come here for some authentic mexican food.

This place has been one of my favorites since the early 90s! Some of the highlights for me are the carne asada burritos & the pollo asado tacos w/rice and beans. Salsa roja is on point too. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood!

Benny’s is a short walk from my place and I regret on not checking it out sooner! Great value and high quality/tasty ingredients in all of the items that I tried. I had the Al Pastor taco and the«mini» bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was as large as many other places $ 5 – 6 option but at benny’s it was only $ 2??? The taco was bursting with fresh meat, cilantro, onions, and the tortilla was very tasty, I highly recommend this local spot! If your driving there and can’t find a spot in the somewhat small parking lot there is a ton of street parking also.

Super adorable mom & pop shop!!! Pleaseeeee don’t let the outside looks fool you. The parking lot is very small and the inside is tiny too, BUTTHEFOODISSOOOOGOOD!!! Not only is that great but the prices are even better!!! We came here with a couple of friends for dinner on a Friday night. My husband and I both ordered their Cali burritos. In fact almost everyone ordered a Cali burrito and one rolled tacos. And our little ones got a cheese quesadilla with some fries. Food was amazing!!! Service was very wonderful. The lady who took our order was sooooo sweet!!! I would definitely come back here again!!! Everything was great.

Writing the review now because it’s one of my favorite hole in a wall gems, but probably my last time coming in for a while, and I’m terribly disappointed about it. So…Pinto bean paste filled burrito with very little cheese(if any) was poorly wrapped and very unappealing. Tacos were SO bland and mushy 3 were inedible. Not sure what’s going on but I’d definitely guess there’s been a change in the kitchen. A little sad about it!

Really good California Burritos… I ordered two of them, and some carrots, to go. Was really pleased with the quality of the food and the flavor. Will definitely go back again in the future. Benny’s has been in business for 35 years.

Benny’s is always good! What more is there to say?! My husband always gets the monster size Cali burrito and I switch between my favorites which include the Cali burrito, chorizo and egg w/cheese burrito, shredded beef rolled tacos, carne asada, and double cheese burger. It really pays to explore the vast menu and get something different. If it’s your first time have an idea of what you want,(i.e. Tacos, burrito, burger, etc.) then you can pick from the variety without feeling overwhelmed by the large menu. The decorations are dated and not at all fancy but the food and service is good enough to make me overlook the décor. The prices are decent and you get good portions for what you pay. I hope you, fellow Unilocaler, give this place a try and love it just as much as my family does.

I am a french fry fanatic. In fact, I would eat french fries everyday if I could. And I have. The Carne asada fries are to die for. Because I didn’t want to waste the fries, I ate the whole thing in one sitting and had a stomach ache. Recommend sharing with a friend.

Good food, good prices. Their burritos are about $ 5.50. The fish burrito was tasty. The fish inside was crispy, and the flavor was good.

A semi large sign sits on the side of the road for a small restaurant with a even smaller parking lot connected to some auto repair place for Benny’s. This place managed to bag a four star review sitting at 102 reviews so far, so I came in to expect some alright Mexican food. The kitchen looks very small along with the dinning room, but it allows for a big party and several tables of four. The menu is very basic San Diego taco shop items and the typical credit card convenience fee sign sits next to the register. My friend was in search for some chips and guacamole for lunch and me the typical Mexican fiend I am was in search of good Mexican food. I ordered the California burrito with a side of beans & rice(the beans and rice were only a $ 1.40 extra, pretty good deal)( ). My friend ordered the plate of chips & guac with no queso( ). Unfortunately for her when she opened the box for her chips she quickly noticed how skimpy they were on guacamole. Even worse was the quality of guacamole, you can see there is literally more tomatoes used than actual avocado. Not to mention she found a large entire pit of avocado in the middle of the guac followed by a heavy over use of lime juice in it. Very disappointing guac. My California burrito( ) compromised of meat, cheese, fries, sour cream and some pico de gallo. It was an all around very mediocre burrito, even starting with the somewhat simple tortilla they used to wrap it in, it had a weird taste to it. The meat was cut into good sized chunks and was tasty. But overall I didn’t really care for the rest of the ingredients they used, the fries weren’t very good and the sour cream had a weird after taste. The side of rice and beans weren’t bad but they weren’t really good either. My favorite thing here was the hot sauce they give with your food( ), very good hot sauce here. Too bad their food isn’t good to go with their killer sauce or I’d might visit this place again.

It may not be the largest breakfast burrito, but it sure a tasty one. I stopped in for breakfast, and a bacon, egg, and cheese burrito is what I had to eat.( ) $ 3.70. The burrito was very good, average in size, and came with a bottle of green and red hot sauce.( ) Although the eggs were good and well seasoned, the bacon was my favorite part of this burrito. It had a great chewiness with a some crispy pieces hidden here and there.( ) The cheese was good and so was the butter flour tortilla. I liked both hot sauce, but I felt the red, with its burnt red chile flavor went very well with this burrito.( ) The place is not much to look at, but they make it up with the love they put in the preparation of their food. Also, the lady at the counter was super friendly and brought my food out to me. I like that… the friendly part that is…

Many, many a time I went over and ate at Benny’s. Their best being the Pollo Asado tortas, seconded by the Pollo Asado taco, thirdly by the Pollo Asado burrito. Their shrimp coctkails rock. I’ve strolled in preggers needing who knows what and came out happy as a sorority girl on the pill at a rush, with scrambled eggs Mexican style– Huevos Mexicanos, and even with some red meundo– I actually prefer the white at Cuatro Milpas. Benny’s rocks and all the years that I’ve eaten there, I’ve never been ill once– more than I can say about Albertos.
