Had a haircut there yesterday. David Sotelo, the guy who cut my hair, was fantastic, the other guys also looked very professional! Great price, great job, and I had a nice conversation with the guys wich kept me very entertained. I got there with no appointment and in a couple of minutes I could have my hair cut. Def a nice place!

As a newcomer to the world of wearing a beard, I’m fairly uneducated on what it takes to grow a well shaped and groomed beard. Lucky for me, and the rest of my fellow San Diegans, Bay View Barber Shop is there to help.
I explained to Anthony that this was the first time I have grown a beard and that I didn’t really know what to ask for. Anthony assured me that I was not alone in my apprehension towards how to grow a beard. He took the time to explain the natural pattern and form of my beard, and recommended a few options for me. I wanted to see what my beard potential was, so we went with a basic trim that would allow for future growth, and I can say that I am STOKED with the results (check the pic).
All in all, Bay View is a top notch barber shop that takes meticulous care to provide their patrons with an artistic cut that will make anyone smile in the mirror. Highly recommend for newcomers to the beard game, and veteran beard wearers alike.

Anthony is the best barber around. Makes you feel at home and will even coach your game. Dude is the man. I’ll never allow anyone else to touch the beard or hair other than Anthony. Best prices in town for the quality.

Just got a haircut by Maira! She was understanding, precise and followed through with good conversation.
Overall excellent barbershop. The owner was very accommodating and polite. It’s a pretty big place with ping pong, sick historic mirrors and antiques. Great vibe.

I’m visiting SD for a wedding and wanted to look my best. Anthony, the owner, gave me an awesome cut that was precise, modern, and clean. This guy really takes great pride in his shop. He’s also one of the few barbers I’ve felt comfortable with using a straight razor on me. His attention to detail really shows when you’re looking in the mirror after you leave.
The shop looks like a classic 1950’s barber shop, has a cool ping pong table if you just wanna hang out, and modern music playing in the background. The atmosphere is super chill and everyone is chatting it up. Anthony and the crew made me feel super comfortable as soon as I walked in the door.
Prices are surprisingly cheaper than I thought — $ 25 for a haircut, forget what it was for shave and shampoo, but seemed decent. I’m paying $ 35 in Chicago, so this was well worth it.

I have been living in San Diego’s East Village for about a year now and have been searching for a good barber the entire time. I have tried all the close spots with no luck. Today I went to Bay View Barber and I should have been going here the entire time! I got a cut and beard trim. Anthony and his staff is very friendly and make an effort to ensure that you feel welcome in the shop. They all take the time and care to be sure that you get exactly what you want. Other shops may make you feel rushed and are just another head in a seat, but not Bay View Barber. Point is, don’t go anywhere else, you won’t be disappointed.

Having just moved to San Diego from across the country, I was on the hunt for a new barber. This was the first and last place in my search. It is a welcoming neighborhood shop with a friendly staff. Anthony is enthusiastic about the craft which is clearly reflected in his reliable, high-​quality, meticulous work. This is my go-​to spot from now on and I look forward to seeing the business grow.

I had a great experience at bay view barber shop. It did take a couple trips there as a walk-​in to realize that for a beard trim and haircut my best bet was to make an appointment, the vibe of the shop is really chill. On to the haircut I wanted a pretty simple cut leaving the top longish and fading the sides Anthony was extremely meticulous and intent on increasing my manly beautification lol he did a great job he trimmed my beard beautifully as well my neck did break out a bit from the razor but nothing a bit more aftershave couldn’t have fixed I think… I’ve received so many compliments thanks Anthony

Anthony brings the best quality cuts to Little Italy and he’s looking always to improve and build a lasting barber shop. He makes sure everyone gets the same attention and the highest level of detail in all his cuts. He won’t rush and will be up front with how long the wait will be if it’s a busy day. It’s always best to make an appointment ahead of time. Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day, but if you drive around you can typically find metered parking available. Ask Anthony about some old school hip hop and he’ll get those tracks on.

I’ve been going to Anthony for haircuts and the occasional shave for the past 4 years. He is extremely skilled and just a great guy to interact with. His haircuts are so good that the 1 – 2 times I wasn’t able to see him (due to my tough schedule) my wife knew immediately that it wasn’t Anthony who had done my hair. I’ve got 2 young boys now and Anthony is very patient doing kids cuts and they look so damned sharp after seeing him. Wouldn’t go to another barber.

Anthony is far and away the best barber I know, and I’ve been raised in a family of barbers. He’s meticulous with his cuts, attentive, and has dedicated himself to his craft. The quality of his cuts can only be matched by the enthusiasm he has to exceed the expectations his customer has.
I’ve had my hair cut by Anthony off and on for ten years now and his cut is still unmatched by any cut I’ve received anywhere else in the world. When I want to look my absolute best, the cut must come from him.

I was in town for work, and stopped in a as a total walk in on my way back to my hotel. They managed to squeeze me in, and I got a great hair cut out of the deal!
Finding a barber when you’re on the road is a risky proposition, but I definitely did not go wrong here. I look forward to going back when I’m in the area!

So let me tell you a story, I was referred to Anthony by my GF who happen to be in the same shop as him. When I got my first haircut it was on point. Best haircut I’ve gotten. He told me from the get go, «I will give you the best haircut you’ve ever had.» and he was right. My next 2 haircuts were from him and each one was great and detailed. He also takes the time to explain the different ways you can style your hair. Very great experience overall. Not only did I have a great cut, I had better understanding of my hair and how to maintain it.
The next 2 haircuts I got were not from Anthony, due to some schedule conflicts with my busy schedule and time crunches. Anthony was willing and able to accommodate my tight schedules. But due the travel requirements for my job, I was unable to make these appointments… And had to get the next two haircuts out of town while on business. BOY WHAT A MISTAKE.
2 ½ MONTHS LATER. I am back here. Anthony made sure to bust my balls about missing the last two cuts with him. But let me tell you. He is worth it. «Nobody ever says ‘I used to go to Anthony’».He cleverly quipped when I came back. What can I say…
If you are a guy looking for a great cut, everytime, and a gentlemen who knows more about your hair than you do, schedule your appointment with Bayview. The place is located centrally in SD, and is just a great experience.

Anthony is amazing! I called at 5:00pm to make an appointment for my husband to get a buzz and beard trim and Anthony gave us a 5:30 appointment and even stayed after closing to finish. He was personable, quick, and great at what he does. We didn’t really know what we wanted but that didn’t matter cus he knew what we wanted!

First of all Anthony is amazing. He has incredible attention to detail and takes extra time to make sure your cut is perfect. I never mind waiting for him if he’s with another client because I know the kind of perfection he seeks with every single client. He’s a great human and loves his craft.
I’m so happy for him opening up his new business here.

Change and steadiness are both good in their own right. I’m glad to see that Anthony has changed venues and had to cajones to be a true believer in his abilities to perform his craft by opening THE Bay View Barber Shop. With truly masterful hands, Anthony steadily and consistently delivers great haircuts (I can’t say perfect cause no one’s perfect, but they’re pretty darn close to perfect) to exactly how I describe them.
Mind you, I never remember what guard I used last. I had no clue on the technique he performed, but yet my cut, whether it be a haircut or a flat blade shave, is amazing — every… Single… Time.
Let’s talk about the haircut — Anthony knows how to guide your head around to do what he needs to do without you needing a chiropractor after the fact. He’s very deliberate in his actions, so this is not your flash bang «oh crap, I need to look sexy in 9point2 minutes for my date down the street at Mona Lisa’s» kind of place. Although I have no doubt that Anthony could whip it out, given his 17 years of experience. This is a place that while fresh and new takes us to a better time when people experienced life and didn’t rush through it.
The flat blade shave — just do it! Be a man and get it done. Nothing is more about the experience than this and not many other experiences are truly a man’s moment to enjoy. Sure, I know how to use my safety razor, but if I’m on the chair, why not let a master do his thing and enjoy the moment? As I write this review a day after my shave, I still look fresh and none of those spots I always miss that you tell yourself not to forget are missed. It’s not just about the shave. This is where you get to lay back and truly see the focus come out. Anthony’s skills are more evident and you know he’s not messing around. An air of seriousness feels the room, cause let’s be real. There really is a knife to your neck now
The shop was brilliantly decorated. There was definitely a lot of thought and time put into the place. I can’t wait for it to be finished and see what transpired. It has a very homely, comfortable feel due to the use of a lot of wood, but it’s very classic, yet fun and hip at the same time. Whatever you’re age or gender, it’s just a fresh and comfy place.
To sum things up and if Unilocal made me make my reviews shorter, Anthony has a personality that will bring the conversation out of you. He has a genuine interest in his fellow man and that comes out immediately. He is truly a master of his craft, and you his patron are his benefactor. His creation, the Bay View Barber Shop is a genuinely community focused venue and I’m sure it will be a staple in Little Italy and the San Diego community.

I met Anthony while he was working at a barber shop in the Normal Heights area and it has been awesome to see him grow and open his own place in Little Italy.
This guy is a well educated third generation barber who was born and raised in the SD area. I’ve never met anyone in my life who is more for the community.
Anthony is an all around great dude and his hair cuts are top notch. He’s going to take his time when he cuts your hair and not rush through it to get to the next client. He takes his work very serious and his prices are more than reasonable for the product that you receive.
