Ballpark Self Storage

Unexpectedly, I was evicted from my office space in the Gaslamp late December and needed to find new space fast. Luckily, Ballpark Storage was around the corner and I was able to get a clean, affordable storage space pronto while I looked for a new office. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful; great attitude, too! The rental price was the biggest– and most pleasant– surprise: a real bargain considering the Gaslamp location! Easy access, loading and unloading a breeze. Highly recommended! (PS= found new office space within the month, so life is good!)

Great, well taken care of facility. I am in the Navy, and having packages shipped on base adds about 1 – 2 weeks time for base processing, so instead, I get my packages sent here where I can pick then up. Great customer service, friendly and professional.

This team is the best, super friendly service, I got in and out quickly and most importantly they had a fair price. I recommend this Storage place to anyone in the downtown area that needs extra room. The facilities are very clean and they have all things you need for moving as well which makes it super convenient.
The other day they were helping the community by serving food to the homeless. This is a kind of business I want to support.

We were in a pickle needing a bunch of boxes and moving supplies. We walked about a half mile to get here hoping they’d have boxes. I was definitely impressed by the nice facility and great customer service. I can’t remember the name off hand, maybe Adam? The guy helping us is the manager and he really went the extra mile to make sure we got what we needed. We also didn’t have a car so he told us if we needed to we could borrow a cart to wheel them home as long as we brought it back. Not many places would allow that! He made sure and gave us the best price and got all of our boxes and supplies back to the loading dock for us as we waiting for a Lyft. Definitely the best service at any Uhaul/​Storage type place that we’ve been to. Also were able to walk by the storage units and they were very nice and definitely in a secure location.

5 stars in my book. We have been using this storage facility for years now. If you live in the area it is so convenient. We even walk here to retrieve our stuff sometimes. Parking is never an issue, we can usually drive right into a stall, however if the stalls are full there is meter parking in front of the building. They have ⁴⁄₅ heavy duty carts to help with your loading and unloading., The staff is helpful and friendly. The faculty is kept quite clean.

Just an update from my last review. I was contacted by the manager Adam over the phone who apologized for my inconvenience and offered to comp the next month’s rent. This was something I didn’t ask for btw so I thought it was a nice and considerate gesture. I like this facility overall. The location can’t be beat and my interaction with the staff has generally been pleasant. My only issue really was with having to wait on multiple occasions for the doors to open in the morning. Adam addressed this with me over the phone and assured me that he will take measures so this doesnt continue in the future.

Me and my wife had a great experience with storing our home goods at Ball Park Self Storage, and the manager Adam Martin was very pleasant in helping me and my wife while i was on a ten month deployment. When we arrive back at our storage unit everything was in place just like we left it. So overall I would definitely give this storage place two thumbs up and I would highly recommend it. Thanks Adam

The cost of the small truck, storage room and helper (John Stanley) was quite reasonable. You will find Sam and Anna quite helpful.

We used Ball Park Storage through my work when we had to put our customers in a hotel due a delay in our new apartment building opening. We put their belongings in storage during their hotel stay until our apartments opened. Working with Ball Park Storage was one of the easiest parts of the construction delay based on the courteousness, flexibility, and genuine concern of the staff for our customers’ experience. I would recommend Ball Park Storage to anyone needing a storage facility. Not only are they conveniently located in East Village in downtown San Diego, but they are a clean and well-​maintained facility. Plus any help you need from the staff (especially Adam who was wonderful to us the entire time) they are more than willing to do what they can — and provide a great customer experience! The chain of events Ball Park Storage has caused will go down in my life as one of the worst and most deplorable. I reserve a 10 foot truck 2 weeks in advance for pick up at 10AM on a Saturday. I even did an early check in and received a confirmation email saying that my truck would be ready. Their hours are from 9AM-​5PM so I get there at 9:45 to do the paperwork and no one is there. The doors aren’t even open and from the windows you can see no one is inside. I call their number and I can hear the phone ringing inside for no one to answer.
It is now 10:10 and I’m freaking out because I hired movers to help me move and I actually had to pay my new place $ 140 to reserve a time slot to move in. So now, I am running late and I call UHAUL and get transferred to the San Diego UHAUL department to see if they can help. I get «disconnected» two times even after giving them my callback number and the third time I called the representative tells me all they can do is refer me to another «nearest» UHAUL location that has my truck size. So it is now 10:30 and still no one is there. I even leave a message for them to call me back right away. I couldn’t wait or afford to waste any more time so I hail a cab and end up going to another location. I ended up getting the truck at 11 and wasn’t able to finish moving everything since the movers had another appointment and my time slot ran out at my new place. So basically I still have things to move, no movers, no truck, and no time off work to move. I had to pay extra for the mileage since the location was farther away and I never once got a call back from Ball Park Storage with neither a follow-​up nor an apology.
Let my misfortunes be a valuable lesson to anyone out there. If you need to be timely and are trying to find a credible establishment to rent a truck, do not trust Ball Park Storage. They will indeed drop the ball.

This place has my vote! I drove in from New Mexico and was just ready to get my car unloaded, it was a holiday weekend and they were about to close. The Assistant Mgr. Todd was so helpful and friendly, he even offered to stay a little longer so I could get the rest of my things unloaded. I would highly recommended this facility! This kind of service is what every business should have!

I rented a U-​Haul vehicle from this location and it was by far the best U-​Haul experience I have ever had! Todd literally went out of his way to accommodate us and I can’t say thank you enough for his excellent service! Both pickup and return were quick and easy. I would highly recommend this U-​Haul location to anyone!

Ballpark Self Storage is only interested in finding ways to rip you off. Don’t rent a space or a U-​haul. I rented a U-​haul from them and while returning the vehicle I waited for the woman working there to get off the phone followed by a long check-​in of the truck, which made me late returning the truck so she charged me for a second days rental. To top it off, there was no one renting the truck for hours. I walked out and will dispute any over charges with my credit card company.
Also, the storage prices at Ballpark Self Storage are at least double what you can find elsewhere. The savings you will find within a 10 or 15 minute drive easily justify going elsewhere. I rented two spaces in miramar for $ 65 per month. At ballpark the would have cost $ 160. The employees just laugh and say it is cheaper everywhere else.
Don’t waste your time or money here.

I have been waiting FIVE YEARS to get a unit here and I FINALLY got one! WOO-​WOO! This is literally the best location for self storage in the san diego metro area– between sixth and 7^th and Island and J St. A couple of benefits: on location bathroom accessible during ball season and/​or for the crazy gas lamp event/​block party times. Across the street from Tivoli. Reserved parking spots? I’m in HEAVEN!!!
