History

Established in 1996.

Arcana Pharmacy was the first patient-​informed integrative pharmacy in San Diego. We have been San Diego’s Destination for Holistic and Herbal Therapies since 1996.

Arcana’s founder, Dr. James Mattioda, is a licensed registered pharmacist with a Ph.D. in Integral Health. He brings more than 15 years of experience in clinical herbalism, and 10 years of experience as a consultant with Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine.

James Mattioda Ph.D., founder of Arcana Herbal Pharmacy has a doctorate in Integral Health and is a licensed registered pharmacist with more than 15 years of experience in clinical herbalism. Dr. Mattioda specializes in blending traditional pharmaceutical science with evidence-​based complementary and alternative therapies.

As a consultant to Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Mattioda brings both conventional clinical training and complementary therapy expertise to patients.
