I am already very picky with my food, but when it comes to Mexican food I am even worse. I was born and raised in Mexico and I ate their food for 24 years, so when someone tells me they know a good Mexican spot I have the hardest time believing that since my standards are pretty high.
I had just come back from a 7 day trip to Mexico City and I was craving everything I ate while I was there so I decided to give «Aqui esta Texcoco» a try. Boy was I happy. This place has everything to call their menu authentic and delicious. It made my transition from Mexico easier. I guarantee this is a place I will go everytime I am missing home. This place is genuine Mexican cuisine; humble, heartfelt, inexpensive… it hits the spot.
If you can’t go to actual Texcoco, this is the place to go that will get you the closest to what you’d experience there.

Food has no flavor. Cook needs help and there are No menu, how do you know what your paying or ordering for if there is no menu on the wall LOL??? Place is a joke. Would not recommend this place to anyone, not worth the trip. Cuatro Milpas kick this place in the ground with price, flavor, and customer service

Simple, fresh and authentic. It’s good when they only sell one thing: balbocoa. Each order comes with lamb/​goat, cilantro/​onion, limes, tortillas, and broth.
A ½ lb order comes with enough meat to make about 6 tacos. The meat is cooked down until it’s very tender. I didn’t taste any seasonings on it other than salt. The broth is a little oily, with rice and chickpeas. It was very HOT and served in a styrofoam cup. 2 half lb orders + 2 cokes came to $ 24.
This family owned restaurant is definitely unique to SD. The exterior was a bit intimidating. The parking lot had a car blasting loud music. Once we got inside it was warm and friendly. Service was very good. The waitress came up to us to ask how the food was and how we heard of the place. A little girl maybe four years old was cleaning the tables while we were eating, cutest thing to watch!

I have been here many times and it never disappoints. The lamb broth is amazing! Full of flavor and all the ingredients are fresh. The husband and wife team are some of the friendliest people in the neighborhood. Every time I go there they are always asking how everything is and what can they do to make it better. I always say do not change a thing!

Well, currently this place has no official name & is not connected to the place in Chula Vista. I ordered a ½ order of lamb which came with tortillas, a broth with rice and garbanzo beans & some ‘fixings’.
The broth was hot, flavorful and even though it was quite hot out I ate the whole bowl. There was enough lamb to make 4 – 5 tacos & the meat was tender & delicious.
The place is small (not tiny), clean & they have their own parking lot. The owner is quite friendly.
Overall the food was very good & I was very pleased to have taken the time to check this place out. I will most certainly return.

Lamb meat is really good. ¹⁄₃ lb of meat, rib, head, or tripe for $ 8 (or ½ lb for $ 10.50) includes lamb broth with garbanzo beans and endless tortillas. Lots of fresh limes and cilantro-​onions. Decent selection of beers.

As I was driving down 30^th street to get some groceries, I saw «Aqui es Texcoco.» Hungry, but not starving… I stopped to get a bite. I know, I know… its a goat roasting restaurant, but whatever. I heard good things about this place in Chula Vista with the same name.
Disclaimer– I don’t eat meat, so my review is quite limited in scope.
The goat dominated menu has left me with only two options. Skipping all of the forms of roasted goat… tacos, flautas, and quesadillas. I settled on the huitlacoche (corn truffle) and flor de calabaza (squash blossom) quesadillas. It was either that or get the rolled potato tacos.
Everyone here gets consommé with their meal. Since it was made from goat stock, I passed. However, the tables near me accepted the soup, and were raving about it. I’m not gonna front, it smelled pretty damn good.
When my food arrived, they gave me a bonus quesadilla! Normally, I would be stoked, but they were just average. Not to complain, but the huitlacoche in other SD restaurants is much better. It is kind of flat here. To boost the quesadillas appeal, I had to use their house salsa. The red salsa is smoky and intense. The green is light and mild.
All in all, my experience was fine. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I really want to like this place, since they have the stones to open up a sit down restaurant on 30^th street in the barrio. They get a star just for that. I will return with goat eaters, and report my findings soon.
Oh yeah, use their parking lot. It is big and puts some space between you and the damn pit bull across the street.

This place is amazing and very unusual. Lamb tacos, whole lambs head, great salsas and the broth or consume is totally worth the trip.
