History

Established in 2000.

Opened in 2000, after doing custom costuming for many years prior, Aphrodite’s Closet became the one stop shop for dancer clothing and accessories. Over the next decade, Aphrodite’s expanded to also carry Rave Wear, and unique clothing such as corsets and one of kind costumes. We make over 80% of the store contents, which has allowed us to be a custom shop as well. We have had our clothing in the pages of Playboy, on the field of Charger games, on the court of the Chicago Bulls, and the stage of Kid Rock, to name a few. Along with keeping a well stocked assortment of stock items in standard colors we have strived to always have a collection of unique and one of kind, or limited run styles to choose from. Over the last several years in the summer we have added our own line of limited run bikini’s as well. We are a mom and pop run business, and value our customers, many of which have also become our friends.

Business Owner

Originally a theater major in college, costuming later took a major role. Later as a dancer, I discovered, costuming that functioned, and was still exciting, was hard to find, and the fit was worse. I first made them for myself, and then for others. I did this for 5 years, got married, and did it for 5 more years before opening a store with the help of my husband in 2000. With my perspective of being a dancer and performer, I have a excellent grasp of what works and what doesn’t. I ultimately continue to work towards that goal, of best look, best fit and best function.
