AMN is a horrific travel company. Among the huge lists of ways they have screwed me over included blackmail and making me pay in taxes. I filed 0 exemptions on my taxes to have the most money taken out and for a whole 13 week assignment they decided not to take out any taxes, which caused me to pay in taxes for this year. Thanks AMN. They also consistently screwed up every paycheck for my last assignment. I initially felt appreciated by my nurse recruiter, but by then end of my 3^rd assignment with her I felt used, like trash. Every department is completely incompetent.

Please, please, please… look elsewhere. The recruiters are horrific. They have an attitude that they are doing you a favor by representing you instead of the other way around. As an RN, you are a very valued commodity! Join an agency that feels the same way and treats you like it! Look elsewhere.

Words can hardly describe how horrible my experience with American Mobile Nursing has been. I know of no other company that behaves on such a shockingly unprofessional level that resembles a psychologically deviant personality disorder.
They engage in a 1950’s style McCarthyism type blacklisting and slander operation designed to discredit any nurse that doesn’t take their abuse it’s called do not hire DNH. AMN can DNH you for almost ANY reason they choose. If they screw you out of money and you complain they will DNH you. And, If you get DNH’d from AMN, you will never work for any of their exclusives such as Kaiser. It’s like a cancer, that can spread from AMN to all of KP and poison your career. Worst company ever, never have I been exposed to this type of overwhelming incompetence, I have been lied to, I could go on and on, just run as fast as you can, yes s few people got lucky but most of the employees appear to be children, incompetent, I complained to my recruiter and she accidentally sent me a response that had her conversation with her fellow employees about me, «like, oh my god, she is so condescending» on and on. Bunch of valley girls who hate their jobs.

I worked for this company for 6 months and it was the worst employment I’ve ever experienced. The company housing is terrible, I had an apartment in Palo Alto, CA right behind the Cal Train tracks with no air conditioning so I couldn’t open the windows at night because of the train going by every 15 minutes so my bedroom was a furnace every night. When I called my recruiter about it the only thing she could say was «Air conditioning isn’t guaranteed!» Then she emailed me an article titled «How to Stay Cool with No A/​C» or something like that. One of the tips was to «Put a bowl of ice in front of a fan»?? I was almost insulted by it. There were several 2 – 3 day heat waves where it was over 90 degrees… that was fun, laying in bed drenched in sweat, absolutely miserable. I was working the 3 – 11 shift too so I couldn’t sleep at all with the heat and the train going by blaring the horn every 15 minutes starting at 5 am. The pay was horrible compared to other companies my friends had worked with, recruiter was sketchy and didn’t reveal things about certain positions– like being floated every 4 hours at one facility I worked at. She also led me to believe that after my contract was up at the first facility, that no other facilities were hiring travelers at the time except the horrible paying facility that floated every 4 hours. After accepting a contract at this facility out of fear of not having a job, 2 of my coworkers informed me that they had each gotten a contract at a different hospital. So my recruiter lied to me, and I feel like she received some kind of monetary bonus for getting me to take a contract at the horrible paying facility that floated every 4 hours. The medical insurance was expensive for the horrible coverage. I could go on and on. I am now a staff nurse at a great hospital and wouldn’t go back to American Mobile if I was broke and unemployed and there were no jobs left in the world. Please take my advice and stay far, far away from this company. You’ll be happy you did. I plan to travel again in the future, hopefully having a better experience with a different company.

The dishonesty of this organization cannot be denied. Of the six nurses I have known personally to have worked with them, none of them, including myself, have gotten paid the allegedly promised pay packages. Then, once a «storm» hit, any representative from the company essentially went «radio silent.» The second I was no longer making them money, I was no good to them. I have never been treated with such professional disrespect as I have with this travel company. I was wrongfully accused of an action by a hospital, and ANM refused to intercede on my behalf. They were never initiating contact with me regarding the status of this investigation; it was all facilitated by me. Any little contact I did have with them was not informative, insincere, and not productive. Would NEVER recommend them as a travel agency. They have a bad reputation for a reason! If I could give them zero stars, I truly would.

I have been with AMN Healthcare for 8 months and there has not been a time where payroll has entered my time card correctly. They make you set up your on interviews. I had to fax my required documents to the same person at least 5 times. They have the lowest pay rate. Save you self a headache and go with another company.

Watch out for recruiters who verbally make promises and somehow seem to say, «I’ve never said that.». Hope she sleeps well at night fully well knowing she is now lying. Integrity and honesty needs to be a mandatory inservice for their recruiters.

I only know of 1 person who hasn’t had a bad experience with this company. That’s one out of a bout 10 people.
Unfortunately I’m the 11^th and my experience has been crappy. This is my first assignment with them and I’ve loved the hospital, my surgeons love me and so does the fellow staff it’s been great. Traveling as a whole I support. However, AMN or American Mobile specifically is not trustworthy.
I was misinformed about how much I would be payed. They barely upped it and I took the housing stipend before I signed the contract. Now I’m not getting the full housing stipend as told and my paychecks are missing several Call and Call back hours. Also they screwed me on the parking fees.
My recruiter only calls me when it suits her needs and customer service doesn’t seem t be available is one person is out of the office.
Do Not use this company. There are others. try smaller they tend to be more honest. I’ve since gotten great recommendations from other more experienced travelers. I’m happy to share that info, just email me.

I am approaching my 3 year mark with AMN Healthcare and could not be happier. I started here right before I turned 23. I have my BS degree and had previous sales and work experience. You walk in and see smiles on everyone’s faces. People are genuinely happy working here and you can sense that in the energy and overall atmosphere in the building. We have amazing accommodations including Starbucks and a grill for breakfast and lunch. I have been able to interact with the CEO Susan Salka, who is one of the nicest and most motivating individuals I have ever come across. I have mentors that have helped me develop in to the business professional and person I am today. I really do not know what I would do without them. The company loves to reward us for our hard work and thanks us all throughout the year. I can go on and on about how wonderful this company is because I truly believe they are one of the best corporations and communities out there.

I have been registered with American Mobile since 2000 and have been doing assignments on and off with them over the years when time permits. I really think having a great recruiter who supports you is key. One thing that travelers need to realize is that it may make you a few more bucks, but it does not help your case to bait and switch and play the companies against each other. trust me loyalty pays off. I know for a fact that I have received unique housing (recently a furnished loft in Boston) and extra perks over the years many others would not qualify for and it’s because I have never tried to manipulate the company like a salesman. They trust me not to try and screw them over. American Mobile, when I was in Graduate School, even helped me to do a part time assignment contract. I have had the same recruiter for 14 years and never felt like I was just a chess piece. Some people just don’t click together and if you feel like your recruiter is not looking out for you than, ask to change to a different one. I have not tried any other companies so I can’t honestly compare. but I have had nothing but positive experiences with AMH.

I’m glad I’m not the only one having a bad experience with them! Lets face it, no travel company is perfect BUT when you are going out as a nurse and working your butt off at a tough job, you should expect to get the same respect from your company and recruiter… in theory! I have had nothing but issues with this company, they do treat you horribly. I’ll give you just one example… I left my recruiter literally two weeks of voice mails and emails about what to do when one assignment ended and I had a week between starting my next contract (also at a local facility) and purely wanted to know if I could stay in the housing I had for a couple extra days, or if I had to move if I could get in a couple days early to avoid a week in between. I got no response for the whole two weeks, and being as that was my first assignment I felt totally lost and didn’t even get a call back from my recruiter until two days after my assignment ended, and I’ve had to go through multiple emails and phone calls just to get simple things done (like changing things in contracts to be housing instead of stipend). I would NOT recommend them at all unless you want a headache, there are plenty of other companies who pay better and who actually know how to treat their nurses.

Horrible customer service. Horrendous actually

I second the other review. Traveling with American Mobile has been very stressful. I find the customer service to be extremely poor. My recruiter doesn’t listen, is rude to me on the telephone, and is not interested in providing me with any support. I have had issues with multiple people in multiple departments. American Mobile might have the connection with the hospital you’re interested in, but expect very little in regards to customer service.

Wish I could give this travel company zero stars. If you are a travel nurse and looking for a travel company go elsewhere. They will take you for everything you have and its not worth the stress! There are much better travel companies out there so shop around.
