Convenient location, near the trolley, they always have your refills waiting for you after you call them in. The pharmacist/manager is very patient with everyone and very kind. They do delivery too!

Sorry to say but I think this place has a sales volume that far exceeds it’s ability to have some semblance of quality control. Yes they do have some very sweet front desk folks but… I’m tired of mis-shipping, lost scripts, WRONG prescriptions, etcetera. Today was the last straw. Vaughn you just lost a 4 figure account for your attitude alone.

I have encountered a very friendly staff here. When I asked for a pharmacy consultation, Patrick G. was very professional. This University of the Pacific alum seems to know more than just the side effects, and he seems to encourage questions.

Allen’s has been much more reliable lately so than my previous review no longer reflects my judgement of their service. I have been receiving my prescriptions by mail and that has worked out surprisingly well. Usually they get them in the mail the same day I order them and I receive them the next day in my mailbox. For me that’s better than waiting all day for their delivery person to show up, sometimes as late as 7:00 pm. You have to sign for them, so if you miss him he takes the prescriptions back to the pharmacy. Allen’s is extremely busy. There seems to be about 10 people constantly working at filling prescriptions and getting them ready for delivery, so of course there will be times that things run less smoothly than they should.

Certain things about this place can be very hit or miss. The awful location downtown, to begin with. I live in Hillcrest and I can’t stand to try and drive to this pharmacy. So I can only imagine the rest of the city’s frustration! Obviously the best times to try would be right when they open, or close to when they close Mon-Wed. Free Parking downtown on a weekend is an Urban Legend. Due to the above mentioned, I was only in this pharmacy once(to establish my prescriptions and me). It is small and odd. It definitely seems to be a relaxed environment for the employees, which can be off putting. Like can I trust these people with my life? In the end I decided it wasn’t really a Walgreens and you weren’t meant to browse or be there long enough to get an assessment of the employees. Hence the folding chair in the corner I sat on to wait for my scripts. By far, this pharmacy’s shining star is it’s mailing option! For no extra cost(that I know of) you can have your scripts mailed to you! Don’t quote me on the cost thing. It might be different for everyone. But! Even if it did cost, say $ 1, I would still do it! I call and ask that my script be refilled and sent to me then Bam! Like a day later, there it is in my mailbox. Any option where I don’t have to leave my house to get something is fine by me! Unfortunately, I have gotten a little spoiled by Walgreens. Their refill process is a breeze. I scan my bottle, choose when and where I would like to have it filled, then scoop it up! So, having to call Allen and pray that someone answers the phone and that the person there isn’t bummed, or super rushed, yadda yadda is my only other quibble. Speaking of which, if you call and no one picks up so you are sent to some weird voicemail? You can leave a message, but I’ve never been called back. So I would advise to just keep trying until you get someone on the line. All in all? I’m still a Walgreens girl. With their drive thru on 30th, it hardly seems like you’re having to pick your script up. And with the app, it’s just too good. But Allen really does run a close second. If you’re looking for script mailing or just a small pharmacy downtown, Allen is your place. If you’re looking for 100% reliability, you may want to look elsewhere.

Not a very clean place. Plus the girl behind the desk seems to be more concerned with her cell phone than service. The place is really disorganized and cluttered. Im also upset about the error in miscommunication from last week. I went in after calling in the morning to get a perscription filled. The gentleman who answered the phone told me it would be at will call. I got there and waited a half hour til they fixed their screw up. Not cool.

Good people, good service. They need to work on their neatness, though. Piles of empty cardboard boxes in the front of the store don’t look good, if they aren’t an outright fire code issue.

Seriously, I am lazy. I hate and I procrastinate on picking up my birth control pills, asthma inhalers and monthly medications that I need to stay healthy. So when my friend Christy’s husband took over at Allen Pharmacy, well I thought I’d give it a try since she told me that they can mail your prescription to me, thus eliminating the need to trek down to a pharmacy, park and wait in line on a certain day each month when I realize that I am on my last pill! It’s awesome. They call your doctor for you and get your prescription. They even transferred over all my prescription from the PB Savon and the Hillcrest Savon. They send it out to me every month and auto charge the credit card. He even calls to remind me or ask if I need anything else. Also, Marcus, who also works there is super friendly and super helpful. They really go out of their way to make everything work for you. When my BF’s insurance got canceled because the company went bankrupt, they called the doctor, and found a generic and priced it out for us. Obviously if you got sick and needed something right away by all means, trek down to your pharmacy and get what you need to get well. But if you live near downtown, they also deliver in person. Even after I moved to NorCal I continued using them. And I have never had a problem at all, they are so on top of it. Medicine that comes to my door? Cheaper or the same price as my current pharmacy? No having to stress each month about getting my birth control pill refilled on time? No parking hassles? That’s where Allen Pharmacy comes in. For everything else in life there is Mastercard.
