Very nice guy. Hemmed my pants there and he did a great job. Super quick service, they were done over night. I would definitely recommend this place.

I really like this place! I had been looking for a tailor to fix up a pair of jeans for my boyfriend (who lives in SD). I found this place next to the nail salon I visit (Professionnail). Parking is easy, as there is a small lot in the back which is never full and part of the Chase Bank. If you can’t find any parking back there, the Von’s parking lot is right next door. That’s where I park when I get my nails done and there has been no issue.
The store itself is small and open, so you can see them actually working. It seems family run– I’ve seen his wife there a few times. I’ve read reviews about the owner being rude or snippy but he’s actually friendly. He’s obviously from another country, so it may come off different to other people.
The only downside is it’s cash only :(but there is a bank next door if needed.
I’ve been back there many times for other items and he’s always super quick and easy to work with. Honestly, I would bring my items from LA back here since I know the quality of his work is great!

Extremely rude. Was the only person in the store. Who I presume to be the owner, was on the phone in front of me, never looked up and proceeded to talk. I was waiting for 10 minutes while he was on the phone. At this point I wanted to see how long it would take for him to have the decency to acknowledge a customer. Then a second person walks into the store, and he hangs up the phone and starts talking to him… there is nothing American about «All American Tailors» if common sense decency is lacking in customer service.

I had a skirt I needed hemmed (about 3″ cut off) in 4 days. It’s not so easy as it was lace with a lining that needed to be hemmed separate from the lace, and it was a pencil skirt so after shortening needed to be tapered. I was a little nervous how it would turn out – between lace, tapering and only 4 days– it turned out perfect! The man who helped was a little dry on personality, but he made up for it for doing an amazing job on my skirt! And he charged a very fair price. I will go here again for sure. Plus great parking! I think it is cash only.

the man was very rude and very hostile. just wanted to get a pair of jeans hemmed and was confused as to how long i wanted it to be. he was no help at all and wanted me to do all the work, cuff the pants, and mark it myself. very unprofessional. never ever will i go here. ever. he will never see my business or get any positive feedback. ever.

Love this place! It’s a smaller family owned place I was referred here by a very close friend she has been going to him for years! I came with a cute maxi dress I wanted the bust line adjusted and a slit cut into the side. He had me try it on and marked where he would make the adjustments and explained why he would do them the way he was marking them. He also pointed out that he could hem/​pleat the very back of the dress near the waist so that hugged in the right places and fell more flattering way!
I brought it a week and a few days before my company xmas party the dress was done with days to spare and was beautiful! Love the way tailored cloths fit! It truly makes such a difference. Should have taken before and after pictures!

Great service, friendly, and very fair price for the quality of work! They only take cash — not a big deal. So glad I found All American!

I went in with the hopes of having a pair of pants trimmed and hemmed for an outfit I was putting together. Before I could finish showing him diagrams I had printed out to help him or any lady he puts to the task, He rudely Exclaimed he couldn’t help me with my outfit. And Went on with saying he’s too busy.
So, If you’re looking to get a clothing project done. Don’t waste your time going here. He’ll turn you away without listening to what you need.

Horrible business owner that is extremely rude and unprofessional. Unorganized and cash only (for obvious unethical manipulation of the books). My experience with this establishment is that of a brand new patron that will not visit nor recommend this business to anyone. So here is a quick synopsis of what went down over the 2 weeks. (If you want the short list skip to the bottom)
I am new to the area and after purchasing 2 new suits, American Taylor was enthusiastically recommended by the salesperson at a local department store. I’ve learned over time to take recommendations with a grain of salt, so I did my due diligence and found the reviews were fairly good and I should give them a shot. Still a little skeptical on Unilocal reviewers, I figured I would take a pair of trousers to give them a feel and see if they are worth me coming back with more work.
On my first visit, a young lady took care of me and insured the trousers would be to my liking. Hemming was 10.00 and the altering of the seat (I am extremely athletic and this is very common since my waist is relatively small in respect to my upper thighs) was 25.00, which I thought was a little exorbitant, but I didn’t say much as long as the quality of work that followed was exceptional. And it was a decent job to their credit, so I figured I would give them a shot for the rest of the pieces which were 2 suits, 1 of which is the same make and cut of the trousers I had altered here, just a different color.
This time I dealt with the owner and I would expect the same quality from the owner if not better. Unfortunately this would not be the case. Upon my arrival the shop was very cluttered with customers and he was extremely flustered in addition to rude to the waiting patrons. Now the 2 coats that we’re apart of the suits were 35 each to alter and initially 10 each for the trousers bringing my grand total to $ 90. I made sure I explained that I wanted the identical trousers on the suit to match the trousers I just had altered. He agreed and even showed me the seat letting me know we were both on the same page. Here is where things get weird. Initially, I noticed the price difference in the trousers, I simply figured since I brought him more work he reduced the price to retain my business. Nope. Prior to pick up he left a voicemail stating he forgot to charge me for the seat and he would have to charge me an additional $ 30 for both the trousers. I called back and agreed to the price adjustment and would pickup my suits the following day.
The 1^st suit fit fine, but the 2^nd (the one with the identical trousers that were altered on my 1^st visit) was no where near completed to my liking. So after I walk out of the fitting room dressed he comes over and immediately starts informing me of his experience and anything wrong with the suit fit is the manufacture and not him (red flag). So my first issue was the excess fabric under the back collar of the coat. I asked him about it and he said this is common and in order to fix it he would have to charge an additional fee. Wait a minute, the same excess fabric that was their last week when I brought the suit in, you didn’t think that I would want to fix that with all your years of experience? He then stated that he didn’t know this would be an issue and the fee is nominal to what he typically charges. At this point I just moved to the next issue knowing I would not return. I take off my coat, the pockets were flaring excessively and I pointed it out to him. He then says this is common for a man of my physique and that’s the best he can do other than sew the pockets shut. I then state you could let out the seat like you did on the first pair of identical trousers. Luckily, the young lady that took care of me the first time was now in the area and agreed with my statement. The owner then abruptly says I don’t know if you have enough fabric to do such a thing. The same guy that called me to confirm him doing just this a day prior. So I go change thinking the least a good business man could do was honor the quality of work he provides. The clothes he tailors is his product, his signature. Do you really want a client walking around with a horribly altered garment on possibly damaging your reputation? He has to make this wrong right, doesn’t he? Not a chance. He said, and I quote, «I have to charge you for the work I do, you know? I have to go back and work and that takes time. I have a lot of old clients, you see them, models, the mayor, very important people. You don’t like don’t come back.» Seeing that I was getting no where reasoning with this man on the topic of providing quality work to customers as well as not nickeling and diming the same customers for things you clearly overlooked, I paid and left. No need for me to be a typical jerk and cause a scene. Total for 2 suits and a pair of trousers 155.00

They altered my super expensive blazer and did absolutely amazing job! I also brought some pants that had to be shortened, they did excellent work annnndddd they took some of my clothes for dry cleaning. Not to mention that the price is super affordable. I highly recommend this place!

I just got some pants hemmed and the waist taken in. Loved the no nonsense attitude. Got in got out. Pants were done quickly and looked great.
I suppose I have a tailor now. This will be where I bring any other items I ever need tailored.

I had attempted to cut a bridesmaid dress out of frustration since it didn’t fit right. Obviously that was a horrible idea considering it was 3 days before the wedding. I took it into All American Tailors in an absolute panic, but felt much better when the man told me that he would fix it and take it out a little so that it fits me better. The best part was, he could have it ready by Thursday night (the wedding was Friday morning). The price he charged was VERY appropriate.
I got there Thursday night to pick up the dress and he told me I have to try it on to make sure it’s perfect (I appreciated this).
I tried to dress on and although it fit better, I noticed the big hole I had cut was still in the dress. Maybe I didn’t communicate to him well enough that I needed that fixed? That’s the only readson I didn’t give 6 stars.
HOWEVER.When I pointed it out to him and told him I needed that fixed but the wedding was the next morning, he stopped everything he was doing, discussed a few options with me, and added fabrics to close the hole up. He stiched up another part of the dress that made it fit even better. By the time he was done, it was a perfect fit and looked great.
THE BEST PART: even after stopping all his other orders to do mine since it was time sensitive, and doing much more work than originally stated, he still charged me the SAME original amount! I obviously gave him more because I was so thankful that he had done all of this for me.
He was SO appreciative and shook my hands. This place overall has great customer serivce and amazing turn around time. I will absolutely take more things in there if I need them altered.

The tailor substantively did a good job. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed hemmed. I was charged $ 60 for this fairly routine straight hem. Definitely felt ripped off, especially considering the fact the store only accepted cash.

Harry and his team of stellar tailors are amazing! I have been going to him for years, and he takes the clothes that I like but don’t fit exactly, and turns them into clothes that look custom. I have had pant hems taken down (my usual!), dresses turned into tops, holes fixed on clothes, and dresses made to look like they actually fit me. I wouldn’t trust anyone else in San Diego, and highly recommend him.

I have taken this place SO many items, that are a project in alterations– not just a quick fix. They definitely do the best job in town, and the girl there really pays attention to detail. From redoing the elastic waist on a maxi dress, to hemming a vintage skirt into a cute summer favorite. They’ve also redone several suit jackets of my husbands, after he lost quite a bit of weight and did an excellent job.

I do not recommend this place. It’s honestly like this guy has no training at all. But, if you don’t mind sloppy work, be my guest :) Just trying to save you the disappointment.

It’s hard to figure out where to begin with this review! This is probably my 10^th time having something tailored with All American Tailors. Everything from dresses to dressy work pants to gym clothes, the gentleman has been able to perfect.
First, everyone that works there is professional and truly understand people have different styles and preferences. I have never needed to go back to have something refitted or redone as they always get it right the first time. All of this is great, true, but what really makes one small business stand out more than another… especially in San Diego, where you have many competitors to choose from?
Today, my experience with All American Tailors deserved more than 5 stars.
I needed to get two pants hemmed by Monday and I dropped them off on Friday night right before closing time. This is already on short notice but the kind gentleman (also the owner) was happy to do without hesitation. Although I only needed two specific pieces done, I had actually brought in 5 pairs. He told me not to worry about anything and that he would have all of them done by Monday. I was so thankful!
However, I was leaving for an International trip on Tuesday and Monday my work schedule changed from open to close. There was no way I could pick the pieces up Monday like I had planned to. I was stuck. The only day I was available to do anything was Sunday. And, of course, they were closed on Sundays.
The gentleman that always works on my clothes had told me before that if I ever needed anything, to make sure I give him a call and he’ll be happy to help. I was desperate. So, I called the store Saturday and informed him of my situation. Immediately, he told me not to worry. He said he can open Sunday for an hour to take care of everything and that it will all be ready before my trip. Yes, everything. Not only those two pairs of pants, but everything.
I always try on my clothes before I leave just to make sure they fit exactly the way I want. Of course, they were perfect!
Honestly, you will never find another tailor better than All American Tailors. Yes, they only accept cash, but even that wouldn’t be able to knock down any stars because they truly are that amazing. Completely worth your trust in them to perfect anything!
Oh, and the awesome parking at Vons is just a plus =)

After visiting not one, not two, but THREE different tailors, All American Tailors was the only place that took on the challenge to turn my tragically tiny bridesmaid dress (thank you, money-​sucking bridal industry) into something that I could actually wear walking down the aisle for my best friend’s wedding. Having the dress fail to fit on her big day was not an option, and after feeling like a piece of sausage being fit into incorrectly sized sausage casing, as well as being cursed at by a large man from another shop who said the dress would never fit me because I was far too big for it (no shit), the kind souls at All American were more than willing to make the requested alteration of altering the bust area.
The turnaround time was a speedy four days, and the cost was beyond reasonable for it being a job that nobody else would even dare take on. The final result of turning a dress that quite literally wasn’t even close to zipping? SPECTACULAR. The dress fit perfectly, all while maintaining the design’s original integrity.
I will never even consider visiting another tailor as long as I live in San Diego and highly recommend that others consider All American as their go-​to tailor, as well. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

I have been to a handful of alteration places/​tailors around the North Park/​Hillcrest area but none have come close to All American in regards to service, price and customer satisfaction.
Since I’m pretty short, I always need my pants hemmed — a few times it was an emergency and/​or I needed work pants hemmed right away (within 24 hrs). The guys/​gals here are awesome about accommodating my needs and I’ve had several pairs of paints ready for pick up the next day — and it was still only $ 12! They can also hem jeans with original seam, which is a huge plus in my book.
It’s only gotten better since they moved across the street to the newer building, since it now looks like they have more sewing machines and space. Parking is street, there’s also a little private lot tucked away around the corner which works if you’re just planning on being there 5 – 10 mins.

This place is great! They are a very small shop with every available worker plugging away at the sewing machines which hurts customer service a bit. They accept cash only, which is a little dated and inconvenient. But, the clothes come out amazing if you are specific about what you want. And, if you don’t know what you want, they are very helpful!
Ultimately, if the consumer experience of a business is something you cannot do without, this may not be the place for you. But, if you want your clothes to look great on you and fit like they were custom made for you, you cannot do better than All American Tailors.
