Adams Avenue Spirit Stroll

The Adams Avenue Spirit Stroll took place on small business Saturday as a way to promote the shops and bars on Adams Avenue. Tickets were $ 18. We picked our wrist bands up at Smitty’s Auto Service at 2 PM and where given punch cards with maps to 12 different business where local bars would be making mini-​cocktails (2 oz.). We were given 3 hours to complete the tour, which was just enough time, though I may have shopped a bit more if I had had some time.
I have spent a lot of time on Adams Avenue, but usually I’m there at night and only go to bars and restaurants. This gave me a chance to check out a lot of shops and to discover several small businesses.
Many of the drinks were delicious. My favorite was a drink called Almond Joy by the Kensington Club in Brooklyn Bicycles. Jayne’s Gastropub made a beautiful Aperol cocktail in La Loupe Vintage, and had a beautiful matching peach floral display. I also really liked the spicy cocktail from Rosie O’Grady’s that was served in back of Tombuctu. Tombuctu was my favorite shop too. They have all sorts of Mexican imports and lots of the day of the dead stuff. Some cocktails were better than others. The Ould Sod served Irish Cream liquor from the bottle… kind of a disappointment as all of the other bars took time to make a creative mini cocktail.
All in all, I loved this event and hope to go back next year. I hear they are expanding the stroll. I think it is a great way to get started on some Xmas shopping!
