OMG, they’re gone! Just a bare spot stands where their little hut once stood. I’ve had so many keys remade there and they were always so professional and I never had to return because they weren’t done correctly. I see a photo above that they moved to Imperial Ave.

So my daughter came home from school to find out she had left my keys in our apartment… hers are lost in her room somewhere… with no way to get in whether she waited for me or not, I looked up a locksmith on Unilocal and found this place with awesome reviews. It’s no wonder they have such great reviews. They were so nice and helpful and not to mention really quick to respond. From the lady who answered my call to the locksmith who met my daughter at our apartment and the gentleman who took my payment over the phone. Each one had a great quality of their own. I can’t thank them enough for getting my daughter in our home so quickly and safely! All at a reasonable price! Thank you!!!

These are by far the most professional, friendly, and talented locksmiths I have ever come across. I cannot say enough nice things about this business.
Alan is an expert in antique locks. I have an old home with hundred-​year-​old locks and he put them all back into working condition. What makes the difference is that he loves what he is doing and actually enjoys the act of working on these old locks. He acts like you are doing *him* a favor to fix your locks!
BEWARE: There are other «locksmiths» in town. They are unlicensed. They appear to be local but they are not. They have no idea what they are doing. And, what’s worst of all, they will charge you a ridiculous fee for shoddy work. Do NOT go to one of those.

Alex and company are good folks, when my fob stopped working on my car I showed up and got a new battery, the battery was installed in a minute and the fob was working like new again! Thanks! For all home and automobile key needs, these are the guys I go to!

I had difficult type of key n it took them only 5min to make it… Although i tried home depot n so many other places… they couldn’t do it.

Adams Ave. Lock and Key re-​keyed our «new» home and then a second time when a key was lost. Robert and Alan were responsive both times as well as professional, amiable, and fair. They were able to piece together a replacement knob and lock from our old parts and one they had to temporarily accommodate a door that may be replaced soon while regarding our current budget. Alan and Robert will be our first call for matters of security.

So sad that their little storefront on Adams is gone! But, I got locked out of the house today + $ 60 later, they had me back in the house and even fixed a different broken door and made us a spare key. Super nice people and a neighborhood fixture.

These guys are great. They came on short notice after hours, were friendly & professional, and took care of the problem I had with a stuck lock keeping me out of my bathroom. They took the time to speak while I video’d them so I have some material to push the landlord with about taking responsibility for the payment.
Overall a very good experience & I’d recommend them highly.

We arrived 15 mins before closing and unexpectedly my boyfriend took way too long to pick a key. We needed 3 copied keys for our visit. About 5 mins before closing time, he finally decided on the blanks he wanted if the shop wasn’t able to honor our request.
We had asked the staff member assisting us if we provided our own blanks, would we be able to get a discount and pay for the key cutting as we have the materials. I was relieved the staff didn’t give us a rude answer and said he was only able to discount one key, since the random blanks we have, won’t work for all the keys we needed copied. We said that works. Awesome service right there to not only give us a straight friendly answer but to also be happy to assist, despite it being so close to closing time.
He quickly copied the keys and bam we were done in a very short amount of time. :) Highly recommend!

Simple, quick service. Can’t comment on their other services, but I came here to make a few copies of our house keys and was very pleased. The lady working there made 5 copies in less than 60 sec– $ 2 a pop. Not bad, at all! They also have all the extras– hide-​a-​keys, key rings, tags, locks, etc.
Their credit card reader wasn’t working when I came by, but it wasn’t an issue as I had cash on me. Just take note…

Great, quick service! PLUS,… their prices are great as well! $ 1.85 for door/​office pass keys?
Can also cut and program even trick vehical keys…
Why use Home Depot or most any other locksmith in this town?

Wow!!! Friendly neighborhood service on the spot. I went in with a busted lock from the church I work at in North Park and they fixed it on the spot for a very reasonable price. My alternative was to go to Home Depot, get a new lock and make new keys. Thank you Adams Ave. Lock & Key, you have a loyal customer!

I called the number and the brother gave me Alex’s phone number because he specializes in cars. I called Alex and he came to help me unlock my truck and got me two keys for the ignition instead of one as I requested. Alex is very nice and genuine.
With no time he unlocked my truck and he gave me two keys to the ignition. Problem solved. He also charged me less then what other locksmith quoted me including AAA.
I saved Alex’s number in case I need him in the future. I love these guys, they are honest and professional. I would recommend them to all my family and friends.

Wow. I can’t believe that I haven’t written about this great bunch of people before.
Today makes it THREE! Once, my key was stuck in my automobile ignition. Once, I re-​keyed my locks. Today, a door lock was frozen, and nothing I did released the pins.
Lucky for me after traveling up and down University to find not one open nearby, I drove to Adams Avenue Lock and Key.
I jotted down the number, (the other businesses did not post an after hours call number) went home, borrowed a neighbors phone and reached Mike. He promised a 20 minute arrival time, and met it. He asked questions over the phone to better prepare. He finished the job in another 25 minutes and I was on my way. Great attitude and very polite.
I should have gone there first. I could have saved a lot of time and stress just making a little farther trip out to a business where I had good results in similar situations.

These guys genuinely want to help you! I gave them a job with a high degree of difficulty, and they handled it like pros.
I initially called Mike Guty at AALK on the recommendation of my painter. I have an old house with obsolete front-​door hardware. This knob simply would not come off! Mike had me email a picture of the knob so he could advise me on how to get it off. I assumed this advice to be pro bono. How cool is that? When the job proved to be tougher than originally thought, I decided to hire AALK to remove it and install my new door hardware.
Al & Rob from AALK arrived punctually at 5:00pm on a Friday. Hardly an enviable time to start a job. While I’m sure they were ready to get their weekends started, they stayed until 7:45pm to get the job exactly right.
Once he saw the handle in person, Al removed it with ease. But the real fun began when we discovered that there was a hollow cavity inside the 93-​year old door. They filled the cavity with new wood so the new hardware would take, then installed the hardware. Then they fixed the alignment of the door so it wouldn’t catch. As I said, this was no easy job, but the results were great!
I’d give them the fifth star if I didn’t find the pricing to be a bit steep. $ 225 for less than three hours of non-​emergency work (labor only) seemed high to me, but I caved since I was relieved to be done with the project. Granted, this was for two guys working on a Friday evening, but after watching them I think it could have been a one-​person job. Perhaps I had expected lower pricing after reading the reviews on here. Still, these guys are total professionals: a refreshing change in an industry where that’s not necessarily the norm.

Certain kinds of businesses get the opportunity to really turn a pretty tragic situation into no-​big-​deal, and Locksmiths are one of those.
A family member of ours found herself locked out of her apartment today, after a post-​surgical doctor’s appt. She’s not supposed to be lifting or walking much, much less sitting on the floor outside of her door. We felt really helpless miles away and scrambled to call every locksmith remotely nearby. I think I called six or seven. Most couldn’t get there quickly, or even today. Grah’s seemed to understand their prices are a complete rip-​off and the lady quoted them to me skeptically before even looking at their ability to get someone over to the apt within a couple of hours (they wanted almost 200 $).
Adams was unbelievable. Mike took my number and offered to call me back as soon as he could confirm availability. He called me back minutes later, said that he could have a driver there in 15 minutes and let me give a credit card number to pay over the phone. He quoted me less than a third of what Grah’s wanted. After showing up super quickly and unlocking the door, Mike called me again to confirm the charge with me before running my card. He charged me five dollars under the low end of his quote over the phone.
It’s a really vulnerable feeling to be locked out of your house or car, and our circumstances made it extra vulnerable today. I would have paid the outrageous prices at the other place if I’d had to, so I can’t say how grateful I was to Adams for being so responsive, honest, and compassionate.
Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely would recommend them in the future. I hope someone who reads this patronizes their business and helps return the favor that I feel like we were granted today. Thanks.
