I spent 74 bucks on a gel full set and didn’t get offered a drink :(If I didn’t need a drink before I def needed it after 2 and a half hours sitting there. in the end yes the technician did an ok job. Should you tip for an «ok job»?? I did, but didn’t feel that great about it. I’m a huge stickler on attention to detail and the way nails were painted showed through (so they needed another coat), the edges of the white on a (french manicure) were not straight, the moon shape was not deep enough, the filing of the right shape took forever (luckily we got close enough to let it pass). Overall the experience stressed me out, and I will give it 2 more tries before completely disregarding the place.

I have been coming to 20 lounge for about 5 years now. I have to say I still love it and enjoy coming here. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the seating is comfy. They always play great music and the music videos to go along with it, which creates a fun atmosphere. Another plus is their complimentary beverage selection. I look forward to my glass of champagne. It’s a good time to unwind and relax after a long day. One thing to keep in mind is that you should for sure make an appointment ahead of time. They mention that walk-​ins are welcome but they are usually pretty booked. They always have a wide variety of appointment times which can be made online or by calling.
The staff are all very friendly. Maleni is my favorite nail artist. She is so incredibly sweet, has excellent customer service, and her attention to detail is impeccable. My shellac manicures ALWAYS last over 3 weeks which is seriously amazing… especially for me because a regular manicure usually chips in a day. I also love that you can walk in with a nail design off of pinterest and they have no problem re-​creating whatever you are looking for. I pay for a membership here and it seems to be a pretty good deal. They have made many changes over the years but I will continue to be a loyal customer… especially because of Maleni and the great service that she always provides.

Nicest nail salon in San Diego. Friendly and great nail technicians! I’ve gotten my nails done by both Mali and Carolina, but the entire staff is excellent. The salon is well decorated, comfortable and relaxing, unlike other hectic salons. Get your nails done at the high top bar and your pedicure on comfy white couches. Highly recommend!

I came here the first time today with my sister who is a regular client. The service and care are great here! They offer tea, water and champagne in addition to their great service. Our two manicurists were, Milleni and Eliza. They are awesome!

Love this spot! Extremely comfortable and relaxing seating, more so than other salons, and they are odor free which is a huge plus.
Staff is super friendly and attentive, and they do excellent work. Complimentary beverages such as mimosas also make this extremely worth the price!
Got a gel pedicure and it is exactly what I asked for, can’t wait to return!

I came in for a mani and pedi yesterday and had such a great experience! I had some pretty detailed nail artwork in mind that I wanted to get for an upcoming vacation. Natasha was my technician and said right off the bat, «I’m not the greatest at nail art, but I’ll definitely try my best!» I appreciated her willingness to give it a go even though it was pretty detailed stuff! She did an amazing job! She was such a perfectionist and gave 110% effort. In the end she said she was so happy that I brought the challenge and got her outside of her comfort zone! The staff even stayed late to accommodate me since the nail art did take some time. The salon is immaculately clean, all tools come out of fresh packaging, and the décor is super cute with TONS of nail polish colors for both gel and regular to choose from. I definitely recommend making an appointment because this place gets booked fast. Overall I could not be happier with how my nails turned out!

I rarely leave reviews but we had a terrible experience with this salon today. We had booked services for a large bridal party today and when we got there they said that we weren’t on the books and that we could not get our services today. This was a huge problem for us as we had 7 appointments booked in prep for a wedding! The receptionist was very rude and the most unhelpful and unconcerned person I’ve ever dealt with in customer service. Hopefully their services are better than their customer service but I certainly will not be the one to go back.

My sister and I came here to get a mani pedi. We were expecting a really relaxing experience, however we had the opposite.
The staff — very unprofessional. They were gossiping amongst themselves the entire visit we were there. It made us both very uncomfortable. At one point the woman doing my sisters nails stopped half way through to check her phone for a few minutes.
Over all service — overall it felt lazy and rushed. My cuticles weren’t cleaned, the massage was short and effortless. If you’re paying that much for a mani pedi, then it should feel like you’re walking out happy to have been there and wanting to go back. Unfortunately I don’t feel ill be returning there and wouldn’t recommend to friends and family that they try it either.

It’s so refreshing to see that all the tools are clean and cone out of a package, I’m a cosmotologist so I’m picky about pedi but this place is awesome not only did they fit me in as a walk in but the let my maltipoo nova sit in during the pedi.
Verry clean and trendy place and the white wine is easy on the taste buds.

Service always feels a little rushed and it is not priced any better than other places where more time is dedicated. It is very clean, and nicely decorated. Polish always looks good and lasts.

I wanted a French pedicure and it was extremely poor quality and rushed. I had to get it redone somewhere else. I would never come back.

Well to start off I thought this place would be fabulous, it’s a beautiful place don’t get me wrong but fabulous is not what I got what so ever. I have been going here for 7 months and I now won’t go back.
Let me start off by saying some of the girls here were awesome and others weren’t as great as expected. You would think that working for a salon in Del Mar, everyone would dress and act the part. It’s not as classy as it seems, for one some girls show up with no make-​up on making it seem like they just rolled out of bed. Second of all, a few of the girls have different hair color ranging from being purple, blue and pink. I’ve seen 3 – 4 girls with different color hair. I’m almost completely positive that all the girls have tattoos and piercing. I’ve had a few girls that I would totally recommend and a few that I wouldn’t go in to see again.
–Bree, she was the first tech I had at Cardiff and I know she then moved to Del mar, she has the colored hair and tattoos and piercing and she was rough and her work wasn’t as I wanted. I want to leave the salon feeling beautiful not embarrassed about my nails.
–Maleni, she is the best of the best. Overall sweet girl, very friendly and dose great work. I will only go to her if I come back.
–Katrina she’s a hit or miss, she does great sometimes and then others it’s not as good. Catch her on a good day.
–Natasha she’s gives good massages, I’ve had her once and she was decent.
–Kristy I find she is very rude and not very personable. She’s done my nails a few time and is great. It’s just her attitude that is hard to handle.

I’ve only had these girls, I’m sure they have better nail techs that I don’t know about but beware when you go as to which tech you get.

I came into this location a couple days ago with a girlfriend of mine. We both had Kristy and Camilla. Camilla was absolutely amazing with my friend, super attentive with her nails and always asking if she liked them shape and length wise. She carried on conversation telling us about her move here from the Dakotas. She is the reason why this rating is so high. Kristy on the other hand was not so spectacular. When coming to this location we were expecting an experience, and to say the least, Kristy did not meet my expectations. She didn’t say much and what she did say was rude or unprofessional. When I was done with my pedicure she was pushy to get us to leave, even though I had polish on my cuticles, and the massage was subpar. I was even a little upset that Camilla wrapped my friends feet in warm towels, but Kristy failed to do that with me. I now know to book only with Camilla and look forward to seeing her soon.

I got a shellac manicure here the day before I left for a two-​week trip. My nails began to chip within 8 hours! By 72 hours, three nails had chipped. A week later, all of my nails looked terrible. I specifically got shellac so my nails would look good while I was gone. I’ve never been so dissatisfied with a nail service. They’re also way overpriced.

I loved my nail experience with Kristy! She did an amazing job on my gel mani and pedi and I absolutely love my fingers and toes! I came in since I was going on the vacation the next day and let’s just say I feel Maui Wowi! Thank you Kristy!

Got ingrown nails after going here. Receptionists were rude and quality of pedicure was not great. Ended up spending 50 dollars for just a pedicure! Up charged up the wazoo! My first time there I really liked it, this was my 3^rd visit and last. They are rude if you try to just walk in without an apt. They cater to birthday parties not the avg busy woman.

I have had a few phenomenal manicures here and a couple of terrible ones… the staff seems to be very varied in their expertise. Nice setting however and they make sure you are comfortable.

Beautiful and very clean nail salon. Friendly and professional technicians. I’ve been going here for six months and love it. Best to make an appointment as it is getting popular.

It’s a very nice clean place. They do pedicures and the seats are comfy although it’s not spa styled with message chairs it’s really nice. Tools are clean and come out of packages and they take there time with a good color choice. Although it’s price I would definitely recommend it for the experience and a nice pamper day.

Went in for a manicure today and was really unimpressed with the service. Spent $ 35 on the mani and I didn’t even get a massage. Mentioned to the cashier and she didn’t even take $ off the service. Won’t be going back

This review is for Kristy, the nail technician that did my shellac last night (6÷18÷15).
The nail salon itself is gorgeous– stark white walls, mirrored accents, clean, open and all around Instagram-​worthy. The location of the salon is phenomenal. Before booking my appointment, I could already foresee myself booking back to back hair and nail appointments with Drybar, next door. I was even running late to my appointment, and was extremely appreciative of their flexibility when I had called.
With that said, every other aspect of my appointment was unfortunately, a letdown. First impression (besides the décor), was that the nail technicians were not polished at all; this is true with both their attitude and appearance. Despite the appointment being a huge disappointment, I was hoping to walk out of 20 Lounge with a great set of shellac. Even then, the quality of the shellac did not justify the price ($ 50 including tip). I was thoroughly surprised that Kristy did not examine her work before she directed me to pay at the receptionist up front. When asked about the appointment, I notified the receptionist that the nails were just mediocre– the nail color was slightly bleeding onto the cuticles on some nails and that Kristy did an insufficient job coating the edge of my nails (to prevent chipping).
After I had paid and left the salon, I realized that there was still traffic going south on I-​5 and decided to walk back in and use their wi-​fi to pass traffic. The boutique is an odd L shape so, they must have not seen me in the corner upholstered chair because, I overheard the receptionist talking to Kristy about my appointment. I overheard Kristi complaining about staying late after her shift (it was about 7:15pm after we finished) and how it was all «bullsh**» (in regards to my complaint).
I sadly must agree with the other reviews; I most likely will not be visiting this lounge again until they hire new technicians.

I don’t get mani/​pedis very often, as I don’t like to spend $$ pampering myself. But being nine months pregnant I was looking to treat myself. So I read a lot of reviews looking for a good place. I have to admit I had my doubts based on all the mixed Unilocal reviews here — but ultimately the serene looking environment sold 20 lounge. I easily booked an appointment online for a Thursday afternoon.
I had my mani/​pedi done by Alethia, who did a fantastic job! Contrary to many other reviews, she was friendly enough without being intrusive or too talkative. I started off with a TOP SHELF PEDICURE ($ 65) which was a full hour-​plus awesome spa pedicure. No massage jets (probably due to sanitary reasons) but soothing and relaxing nonetheless. The sugar scrub, cool refreshing peppermint mask, paraffin treatments, and massage were so relaxing and pampering! The only thing was the lack of massage/​lounge chairs. The bench with pillows where you sit for pedicures was not the most comfortable. I went all out and followed my pedi with an ON THE GO MANI ($ 25, but I had a coupon for a free one) — which was a perfect no-​fuss mani that took 25 min. I like that they have lots of Opi colors to choose from.
The salon was clean white and modern with contemporary music. The TV screens showed screen-​saver type images that were probably meant to be relaxing… But was a little random — almost wish they had some mindless show/​movie playing with closed caption or something.
Will definitely return the next time I decide to pamper myself with a mani/​pedi!

First I was so happy when this salon appears near my house, it looked so professional and clean. Good point is that until now they have good care for hygiene and the appearance, but I wouldn’t call their masters professional at all!
From the first time I came here I been asking to use the wooden tools, because I don’t like my sensitive nails being scratched. They never remember that. But the biggest concern is — they don’t know how to shape the nails properly! The manicurist today was asking me all the time if all done well. Can’t she see herself the imperfections? They don’t know even how to clean the edges after filing.
And then pedicurist asked what shape do I want — I said round. At the end all the nails was in different shape! Why to ask then?!
And both of them don’t clean the polish spots unless I point at them.
Definitely going to find another place for my nails, which is very difficult in San Diego.

First time to the new Del Mar location. When you enter, you are hit with upbeat music and a clean fresh vibe. I love white so this appealed to me. Open, bright, friendly and did I mention, clean? I was a bit late due to Holiday craziness in the parking lot but stil met with a friendly face. Shawnee is their manager and was also going to do my Pedicure. Comfy bench seating due to the high number of throw pillows. Lots of up to date mags. Huge TV screen with videos playing. I had a great pedicure, didn’t feel rushed and had a great conversation. My toes look beautiful and I’ll be back.

Honestly, the receptionist was so rude I don’t ever want to go back. If you’re in a position of customer service change your attitude.
I gave them an extra star because the décor is cute and girly. Plus,
the technicians were sweet.

I came to 20 Lounge with my girlfriend, after throwing an early morning garage sale (unpacking boxes, moving furniture, etc.)…so a manicure and pedicure was exactly what we needed.
First, the store is really spectacular; it looks like they spent a lot of time and money making every design detail perfect. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, and the nail people (nail technicians? not sure what they’re called) came up and asked us if we wanted something to drink. They offered wine, coffee, Mimosas, or water, and they served us as we sat at the nail bar. All of the tools were in sealed packages, so we could tell they were sterilized. After our manicures, we moved to the back for pedicures, and the chairs/​couches we sat on were very comfortable and the perfect position for getting your feet worked on.
The people working there are all very friendly, and talked to us while they worked, and they didn’t exclude us from their private conversations, which always seems to happen at your typical neighborhood nail place… the point being, this isn’t your typical neighborhood nail place!
20 Lounge is so much nicer, friendlier, cleaner, BETTER than your regular nail salon. I’m a guy, and I don’t get my nails done all that often, so when I do it’s a special thing… and 20 Lounge is really special. They totally have it figured out.

Been anxiously anticipating for this place to open. Finally had the opportunity to come give it a try! Basic pedi will run you $ 30. Comes with a nice soak, cuticle clean up, callus scrub, massage and a complimentary beverage of your choice! Reservations are a must. They rarely accept walk-​ins. Surprisingly for a Sunday afternoon I pretty much had the place to myself. Dina was my nail technician and she was awesome! Very easy to talk to and meticulous in her work. Pedi took about 45 min. All polish is by OPI and they had a nice variety of colors. It’s a nice change from your typical Vietnamese salon. The ambiance here was very quiet and relaxing. I am looking forward to my next visit :)

They offer you complimentary coffee, wine, champaigne, or mimosas when you first enter. It’s definitely a perfect place for a girl’s night!

I just moved to the area and this is the only place I’ve been to. I have only gotten pedicures but they always end up perfect. Also they use new tools for each client and send you home with the buffer, file, and foot scrubber which I like because I know it’s clean.
Overall I’ve never had a problem.
They don’t have many colors but what’s stopping you from bringing your own?!

Cute concept! They have a nail bar then a lounge in the back where they do pedi’s. Not your traditional nail salon at all so don’t expect the big massage chair as this is more of a boutique.
Everyone is very nice and they offer complimentary drinks while you get your services done. It’s $ 20 for a mani and $ 30 for a pedi. Also, inquire about their additional add on services.
