San Clemente Cove Resort

Great location, view, clean nice rooms, free beach chair/​umbrella/​toy rentals. Definitely would go back.

Although the Cove is a very nice Resort it escapes me that they did some major renovations to the outside this year but didn’t think it was important to take care of the grounds. On South Alameda Lane there are what I think are two short Palm Trees to the right of the entrance that are unsightly and unkept. They certainly need to be trimmed and cleaned up especially given it is the entrance to the resort.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for an early Valentine’s Day celebration and we had the most amazing weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect, the view was breathtaking and the location was central. We loved that we could walk to restaurants and walk along the pier or the beach. It was extremely relaxing and the room was wonderful. We had a one bedroom suite and it was plenty large for the two of us. The bed was very comfortable, balcony was beautiful and overall, no complaints. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

First off I booked thru 3^rd party Travelocity, and did not get a beach view and got a room with the trash bin (you open it the the trash goes down to trash dump) located right on room ekkk, so I suggest if you want a beach view or a room that’s not connected to a trash bin call and book Thru resort. The rooms are outdated but ok the bathrooms are scary very outdated. On the plus side the Lady at the front desk if super Nice and the resort is right next to the beach!!! There is a Pizza place and an ice-​cream, some one please tell the ice cream guy he is overpriced got 5 cones for 30 bucks! There is a Restaurant on the pier its very good.

Parking lot view! Ocean front but we had a great view of the parking lot! Standard condo room, small bed, big living room, and a big balcony overlooking the parking lot! Check in took awhile and overall I was disappointed with the resort. All their photos show ocean view balconies but ours was a sliver! For the price I would of rather stay at the Beachcomber or the Sea Horse. Both have way better ocean views and cheaper!

Stayed here for a birthday weekend getaway. We had a beautiful view of the beach, the sand is literally a few steps away! In the front office you can pick up beach chairs, towels, body boards, board games, & DVDs. The body boards are $ 5 a day, & $ 2 for DVDs, all the other recreation equip is free for use. Staff is friendly, condo was clean, comfy, & quiet. The condo has all live– in necessities (dishes, cookware, extra linens, cleaning supplies) The jacuzzi is on the balcony, giving a wonderful view of the beach. We will definitely stay here again!

Love this place! Super close to beach, shops and restaurants! The rooms are fantastic! Very spacious with a full kitchen! Even has a dish washer! Balcony to a beech view! Comfy bed! Fire place! Hot tub that is perfect to warm up in after surfing! Also you can bring stuff and use the grill they have that over looks the ocean to cook out! We will definitely stay here again. We will however ask for a third story room. There was a child/​or very hyper adult above us that made a ton of noise. And get a room away from the garbage shoot. That gets loud too!

This resort is beautiful. You can’t beat the view and is very convenientially located. Rooms are huge and worth the price. Is rather save up for a place this awesome. Staff were also very accommodating and friendly. Great place.

I am giving this «hotel» 3 stars because of the location and accommodations were nice. However, there is little to no parking, especially if you are using this location to get ready for a wedding, which I did with my friend who was getting married. It’s difficult to find parking for your vendors (hair, makeup, etc). When my friend purchased the room she was informed she could have a late check out because she couldn’t be at her wedding venue until 2. The night before «Cove» told her no, she could not have a late check out. I had to argue with the lady at the desk the day of my friend’s wedding, explaining that she wouldn’t have picked the location if they were going to give her a problem about checking out late. We were still getting ready and they wanted us out by 11am, I had to tell the lady there was no way that would happen. They wanted to charge my friend another $ 100 to stay late, after they already told her the late check out would not be a problem. Would not stay here again, the customer service was not great!

Stayed one night wish we could have stayed at least three more! great digs, great staff, great location! Only bummer was no pool but you’re steps from the ocean so can’t complain on that one too much, easy 5 stars from me!

Bad choice. We booked reservations on line for the weekend, replete with admonitions of no cancellation policies, no refunds, etc. We traveled to get there only to discover they «had no record» of the booking. OK — I offered to show them the confirmation number, which I had in the confirmation email. It was very difficult to retrieve from my email, as Internet connectivity is poor to nonexistent there. Had to drive five miles away to get Internet connectivity and get the confirmation email. Got it and went back to the incredibly rude and incompetent clerk. She curtly announced that she «couldn’t see it» when shown to her on the computer screen — and that was it. No kidding. No attempt to get to the bottom of things, or be polite about it, etc. Feeling both humiliated and like some kind of criminals — our inclination was to take our business elsewhere — but we couldn’t… we’d already paid on line as the confirmation letter clearly reflected, along with the no cancellation no refund policy. Can you imagine what would have been involved in trying to get a refund? I suggested that she get somebody in there that could either see or figure out what to do but she announced «I’ve been here for 27 years» and was the best they had to offer. She carried on condescendingly to ask if «we’d ever worked for a big company». My wife is a medical doctor, and I’m gainfully employed as well thank you very much.
So we called the number on the confirmation email and told them what was going on — they spoke to her and offered to fax a hard copy of the reservation to her. OK — but when she got the fax she announced that there was no price listed on the fax, and therefore she could do «nothing» with it. As I was calling the police to report the robbery an «owner» walked in. Now, this is not the «owner» per se — the place is crawling with geriatric «owners» — its a timeshare operation, and apparently when the «owners» need folding money they let their rooms out in an albeit highly unorganized and unprofessional way.
Anyway — this «owner» was enough to freshen her attitude and she was then able to figure out how to let us have a room.
There were no toiletries in the room, and no restaurants or services either in the room or nearby.
Long story short — this place is not worth the hassle.

Can’t beat this place for location. Walking distance to Fisherman’s Restaurant for dinner at the San Clemente pier. A little coffee shop and italian restaurant within a block of the resort. Rooms. are very clean with all the comforts of home. Train horns at night, but I didn’t bother me at all. Nice size balcony with a view at second floor and up. Very knowledgeable staff that can assist with anything from directions to reviews Secure parking provided.

This place is great. It’s right in front of the ocean/​pier, walking distance really. The room is equipped with everything– bed, bathroom, kitchen, living room, etc. Balcony if you’re lucky or ask for a room with one. Guest service is great. There is always someone there after hours (like past midnight, coming back from a bar, etc) It’s basically a steal — affordable pricing, great view. Only bad thing about this place– THIN WALLS! I can hear everything. :\So for future recipients, please use 2 cm voices. :D

Every year when I was little we’d come to San Clemente to spend a week at our timeshare. From now and from what I can remember, this place was boring. However, it is a nice place to come down and spend a couple of days NOT A WEEK and it’s a walking distance to the pier/​beach.
The condo is pretty much equipped with everything you need, there’s a balcony with a view (if you’re lucky). This place deserves two stars, for one thing between certain hours you must respect all guest by keeping the noise level to a minimum BUT once it’s 8 in the MORNING, you hear E V E R Y T H I N G; from people stomping like elephants above you to rearranging furniture. OH! & the balconies are pretty closed to one another so if you think it’d be nice to relax outside & read a book be prepared to sense the awkwardness of seeing the occupants of the rooms next to you that you hear through the paper thin walls.

Great service at the front desk. Nice rooms. The hotel provides beach towels and chairs. Excellent views of the beach and pier. The only drawback was that all noises from other rooms could be heard. We got a call from security after moving a patio chair. We most likely will not stay here again.
