Fired Up

Had lots of fun and Fired Up! Each time we are in the area we make a point to visit and enjoy ourselves at Fired Up. Each time it has been different with new choices to paint. Whether its a holiday a gift theme or simply creating, the kids and I have fun. You gotta go and experience it for yourself! Thank you to the owner Sarah for taking great care of us!

Booked my 5 year old’s birthday party at Fired Up, and we had an amazing time. The space is so cool and fun, and Sarah’s genuine enthusiasm for the kids, the painting and the whole experience really rubbed off on everyone. The back patio with the picnic table and twinkle lights was the perfect place to set up snacks and cake, and when the kids finished playing and wanted to play there was sidewalk chalk and little scooters, and inside Sarah did a great job helping the kids pick their pieces and pick their paints. She was so encouraging of everyone’s efforts and worked well with all of the kids (a diverse group of 3 – 5 year olds, some with special needs) and their moms. She was willing to work with me on budget and put out pieces in a certain price range to keep things more reasonable, and also had each guest sign a little tile so that my daughter has a memory of who attended her party. It wasn’t an inexpensive party, but it was worth every penny — the ceramics the kids created was fantastic, and all of the girls and their moms said they had a great time. We were really able to have a special day for our little girl.

This place is awesome! Our PTA used them for a tile fundraiser, Sarah had everything ready for us and organized. Their location is spacious and has a great selection of items to choose from. You couldn’t find a better experience!

I highly recommend visiting Fired Up to make unique, creative, custom gifts for a loved one or for yourself. Sarah and the rest of the FU staff are so friendly and helpful. The environment exudes peace and love and it just feels good to be able to create in such a positive space. I have had the pleasure of making many gifts for loved ones over the years at FU and I am always in love with how they come out. I am a creative at heart, but if you are not Sarah and her staff and there to help and provide you with helpful tips to ensure your masterpiece will come out amazing. I also had the pleasure of making a piece with my sons’ hand and foot prints when my 2^nd child was born. It was such a cool experience and Sarah helped me and my family create a piece that we fondly admire on a daily basis.

I highly recommend coming down to fired up. They have a nice, clean set up with a big variety of colors and pieces to choose from. This place has an amazing environment and usually has some music playing as well. Sarah brings a fun and peaceful vibe. You will most likely catch her dancing and singing around the shop. There is a nice area out back if you like fresh air. They also do birthday parties. Always a fun place to go with the family or even a date.

We love this place! Local, privately owned with honest prices! I take my niece here regularly and every one is so nice. We made the mistake of trying Color me Mine in Mission Viejo and had a horrible experience. Color me mine broke our item in their kiln then called saying they will give us a discount? We will only go to fired up from now on where they are careful with your items, the service is great and the people are genuine!!!

Love this place! Great vibes, great music, and great selection of ceramics to choose from!

Made a ‘Daddy’ mug at Christmas for a gift. The glaze didn’t cover the bottom and there was a pretty big gap in it so I took it back to see if they could re-​glaze and re-​fire it so it was able to be used.
The ‘owner’ was arrogant, condescending and not at all helpful — using a barking tone with a lot of eye-​rolling and treating me like I was a moron with regards to the dangers of re-​firing. I never lost my cool because at that point, I knew her intention would not be to help me, so I just shook my head to myself, said thanks and left.
I spent a lot of money there at Christmas making presents — I’ll never go here again. Her attitude was so unprofessional and unnecessarily unkind.
I’m so sick of business owners without any sense of customer service.

I’m astonished to see all the positive and complimentary reviews of this place. Went there last week with my 3-​yr-​old to paint a mug for her Grandma.
First of, got yelled at for pouring too much paint on the paint tile. That might have been the case, but how the owner went about it was so uncalled for. She loudly reprimanded and scolded me in front of other customers for being wasteful and taking too much paint. I poured some of the paint back in the bottle. While my daughter and I were waiting for our mug to dry so we could get her handprint on it, my daughter was painting the table with a little bit of paint (the table has paint all over it). The owner runs to our table yelling «you are wasting my expensive paint, it’s $ 20 per bottle! I won’t allow it!!» and literally snatches the paintbrush out of my daughter’s hand and takes the paint dish away. When it was time to press my daughter’s handprint on the mug, I dared to take very little paint as the owner’s eyes were glued on me and how much paint I was pouring. Needless to say, the handprint turned out poor due to inadequate amount of paint. At this point I just wanted to finish the mug and get out of there as soon as possible.
The entire experience was unpleasant and embarrassing. The worst customer service I have ever received during my four years in Southern California. Btw, have a few friends who have also visited Fired Up. Called them before writing this review and, sure enough, they have similar experiences.
None of us will ever go back.

took the kids here and they loved it. we were here for hours and they made coffee cups for my wife. they had fun and I did too.

I have been here twice now and it is such a lovely place. There is everything you need to make a great piece of art and the staff are so helpful.
The last time I came here was for a girls night, there were 4 of us. They let us bring in food and drinks. It was a great night and they were so accommodating.
They have pieces there you can paint or you can bring your own. There is no time limit and no additional charges. Their prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back here.

Wonderful place to go with the kids!!!

We tried Fired Up for the first time a few weeks ago and had a great time. Took our 5 year old and all 3 of us made «art» and had a great time. Cool little cottage with both indoor and outdoor workspaces. Lots of fun pieces to choose from. Sarah is great. We were allowed to just work at our own pace, which was awesome! Thanks! We’ll definitely be back.

This place is great fun for both adults and kids! My two girls, ages 8 and 6, and I just completed our 2^nd «Holiday Ornaments» class here in December 2012. Sarah, the owner, is fantastic with the kids, giving them just enough instruction to get them going, but not too much, ensuring that their creativity shines through in their finished pieces. She is positive and encouraging. You can use as many colors as you want and take as much time as you want; and you never feel rushed. You can bring food, drinks and if needed, use the nice, clean bathroom!
We love Miss Sarah, and love Fired Up, and will continue to be repeat customers!

BEST place EVER to take your kids to work with ceramics. «Ms. Sarah» took the time to get to know my 8 and 10 year old boys, and help them each decide how to paint their pieces. She was extra wonderful with my oldest son, who is autistic, and showed him how the kiln works. Fired Up has a wonderful atmosphere, and makes it easy for anyone to learn to love ceramics!

This is a mellow little ceramics studio where we had impressions done of our son’s hands and feet when he was an itty bitty. She is a master at getting those little feet to go where they need to go! My sister had a bday party here for her daughter back in March and it was really nice and everyone had tons of fun. This is an all-​around great place, run by a lovely and caring person. Better pricing than competitors, great individualized attention, I can’t recommend this place enough!

This is a great place for adults too! If you want to create a tile for one of the tile walls (often used for fundraisers, to support the DP historical society, etc.) this is the only place to go. The prices were reasonable and the people working were helpful.
Don’t go when it’s hot because there is no air conditioning :)

Ah, Miss Sarah, what a star you are.
I have the privilege of being allowed to go on base to their pottery shop and have to pay next to nothing but I come here every Friday night to hang out with the owner Sarah and enjoy my painting time. She lets us bring in wine and sushi and we spend around 3 hours just talking and painting and enjoying our evenings. if you don’t feel like going out to the bars, and want a quiet evening of fun, make this your evening out with the girls, you’ll never regret it.
The pieces are like $ 25 per mug but you can take as long as you’d like, use as much paint as you’d like and she’ll fire it by Thursday usually.
Sarah will also give you ideas if you’re lost and has tons of works you can look at for inspiration. She also has some cool mineral effects type paints, stencils and such.

It’s like Color Me Mine but BETTER in every way!
I’ve spent hours at a time in here. I love the new location as it’s one of San Clemente’s historic homes (I heard that somewhere… I don’t actually know what a historic home is.) and it’s super cozy. Pick out your ceramic and as many colors of paint as you want (Color Me Mine only let’s you pick 5 or something). There’s even a work-​in-​progress shelf if you don’t finish on your first visit. You can bring and food and drinks in and stay as long as you like!
The owner, Sarah, is super friendly to everyone and way laid back. She’ll give suggestions to anyone with painter’s-block and chats with her (many) regulars.
There’s quite a few pieces to choose from: mugs, serving plates, piggy banks, toothbrush holders, magnets, and chalkboards. You know, just to name a few! Once you’re done with the pieces she fires them in the kiln in the garage and I think the longest I’ve ever waited to get it back is a week. Pretty speedy.
It’s a pretty happenin’ spot on the weekends for parties (kids and adults). Also, Sarah has different clay classes she does, I think she usually has a monthly schedule. AND last I knew she was getting a pottery wheel. «Ghost» moment, anyone?
