Tavarez Orthodontics

It’s been over a year and I am still have a bad taste in my mouth over my experience with Dr. Tavarez. I brought my son in due to an underbite problem. With a very short discussion, they laid out the treatment bill and tried to set up appointments. At this point, still thought he looked fine and they had not convinced me, he needed the treatment. I started it though and they did a fine job fixing his underbite. However, Dr. Tavarez is either stressed or not very kid friendly. At one appointment, she was placing some part of the braces into his mouth and it cut into his gum line. He started to scream and cry. She tried to work through it an acted like he was inconveniencing her. After my consoling him, I asked her to look more closely and she found the problem. Also, their appointments were not conducive to the school schedule. When they offered me a follow-​up appointment and I said he is in school, they looked at me like, «Just pull him our for an hour.» When I said I would not, they told me they preserve the after school hours for another type of appointment and were not happy that I would not accept their procedures. What finally got me, however, was when I thought we were done. The appliance came off, the braces were off. Yipeee! We went into her office and her business person is once again giving me a bill for the next section. When I explained that I was never aware of a «next step.» She said it was standard procedure. Braces all over again and big money. The final kicker, however, is Dr. Tavarez came into explain (never did convince me) and turned to my son and said, your next appointment is Monday and you have a loose tooth so that better be out by then. Like we were supposed to yank it out so she could start. I complained and threatened to go to Unilocal.They never apologized for Dr. Tavarez’s actions and only offered a better payment plan. At this point, I am almost convinced orthodontics is a scam and, Dr. Tavarez, in particular is really only interested in making money. Again, it has been over a year and now my second son is looking at braces. Not only will not go to her, I will encourage other people not to go to her and any future appointments with other orthodontists will be met with great skepticism.

Very friendly staff. I was referred here by friends and really like them. Not only have I referred people there, but my Daughter nowis a patient of Dr Tavarez. Dr Tavarez is great with children and really makes my Daughter feel comfotable. I highly reccommend her & her staff

I’m actually still seeing Dr. Tavarez and I believe she is an excellent orthodontist (I used to be in the dental field for over 20+ years). I’m seeing her for lower teeth alignment prior to getting implants. She is knowledgeable, professional and honest and not pushy, she takes the time to access the next steps for the movement of your teeth.
Her staff is absolutely fantastic and this is also what makes a practice thrive, they are caring, sensitive and always treat you with a smile.

Dr. Tavarez and her entire staff are awesome! I have two daughters that are receiving treatments right now. My oldest daughter is almost finished Phase 2, and my youngest daughter has about 1 year to go with her braces. From the first time we were greeted in their office, I knew we would receive the very best of care. Dr. Tavarez took the time to clearly explain every step of how the treatments would go and answered all of our questions. I drive all the way from San Ramon just because I completely trust Dr. Tavarez and in her choices of my daughters’ treatments. She and her staff are all so friendly and meet with us after each visit to go over what was done during that visit, what is to be expected in the following days and what to expect at the following visit. I never have any problems to make the next appointment. We have had to go in for unexpected visits, as that does happen from time to time with braces, to fix a loose wire or for some minor adjustments and we have been seen each time, without any problems. They always have a spot for us to be seen right away to correct whatever it is that needs to be corrected. Dr. Tavarez and her staff are professional, conscientious, and just plain terrific! You won’t receive better care anywhere else.

I interviewed 6 different orthodontists prior to choosing Dr. Tavarez. She and her staff are responsive, professional and fantastic with kids and adults alike. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Tavarez and her organization. She has offices in both San Carlos as well as Menlo Park.

My eight year old son just started Phase I braces. DrT and her staff are so nice. They patiently reviewed oral hygiene techniques with my son and reminded him how important it is to take care of his teeth. And my son actually listened and has been religiously using his electric toothbrush and floss threaders. His hands are small and dexterity is still lacking, so I think he still misses spots… but at least he is trying. =)
They have cool gimmicks too that encourage the kid to do his personal best at other things. If he gets good grades, he gets a T– buck. The T– bucks can be used for prizes. Hey… there is nothing wrong with bribing for a good cause!
