I had to deal with the morbidly obese blonde woman in records recently. She is extremely rude. I think she had a doughnut crumb on her lip. She is gross and mean.

In the almost 20 years I’ve lived in San Carlos, I have fought a few good fights. I fought to pass bond issues benefiting our schools, I fought to keep our police force, I fought to get a stop sign installed on a busy street near Brittan Acres School, and when my ailing, elderly neighbor came to me for help, I fought against the homeowners next door to his rental who were breeding rottweilers in their garage and terrorizing his tenants to the point that they were afraid to empty their trash at the side of the house.
The male broke through the front door and viciously attacked a toy collie across the street, traumatizing his elderly owner, Mary Livisgood, so badly that she never really recovered. She told me the Changs paid her vet bills and «gave her a bottle of wine to calm her down.» Exemplary behavior, don’t you think? Mary died a few years later. So did the elderly neighbor, John Taffe, who had elicited my help in the first place.
When I saw the rottweiler go for another dog’s throat in front of my house, I talked to the breeder about the safety of my young child. His response was: «That’s your problem.» So, I filed a police report. When these dogs attack other dogs, chances are children are next on the menu. The officer taking my report told me he wouldn’t even let his 14-​year-​old in that backyard.
When the breeder applied for a kennel permit because he had three dogs (plus the lucrative puppies), John begged me to help, and I rallied my neighbors to appear before the town council to expose the breeder for what he was: the owner of unlicensed, non-​neutered animals who had several reports on file with the Humane Society. These dogs had also broken down the fence and run amok. It tells you something when even the mailman wouldn’t go near the house; the owners installed a mailbox at the end of the driveway.
My initial review was about a loud dog whom the neighbor (now a renter in the Changs’ rottweiler house) let bark non-​stop, even though I knocked on his door twice at 10:30 at night. He didn’t do anything about it, and so I had to call the police. The noise ordinance here says you have to be quiet after 10:00 p.m., but did he care? No. Then, when another renter persisted in parking in front of my driveway I, again, had to ask the police for help, and the renter retaliated by trashing me on the internet and letting their dogs poop in my front yard.
So, San Carlos Police, I thank you again for having my back. Hard to believe all this goes on in little San Carlos, but I guess uncivilized, even criminal, scofflaws who could care less about their neighbors are among us.

Recently within the last few years due to budgetary concerns a well-​managed police department succumbed to being dictated by another agency.
The small community of San Carlos, Calif. with professional police officers who were members of the community enforcing the analogy of «serving the community» disappeared and was replaced with the calloused, big-​box mentality, aggressive and worse of all corrupt SAN MATEO SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT.
I don’t understand if it was that deputies were finally allowed to patrol an «incorporated area» as opposed to their typical genre of patrolling the «unincorporated areas» but the change of department integrity was evident with deputies’ integrity, morals and character being discussed amongst members of the community at large.
Topics in question were how simple contacts with a deputy deemed to escalate rapidly in situations which would lead to overreaction in miniscule situations.
A very questionable and ongoing incident was with a friend of mine who was punched by another individual, had a witness that my friend had never met prior to the incident in her favor and even a video of the interaction of the assault and battery which occurred.
Normally, and I use that word lightly here, the general public would look at an occurrence as this as something that would be investigated with the aggressor arrested and charges being filed.
«ONLY what a normal everyday taxpaying member of society would expect right!?»
Possibly right if the aggressor’s parents were not former members of law enforcement!!!
My friend went along with the agency’s protocol and spoke to the responding deputy who wrote the report in her favor since the aggressor expeditiously left the scene, spoke with a detective who said he would investigate but had critical evidence not in the report aforementioned, spoke with Internal Affairs who got on this merry-​go-​round of justice travesty then jumped off after realizing that there were a «KIDS COP» in the mix so they sent the paperwork back down to the same detective who decided to sit on it until my friend called and called and did I mention CALLED over and over to this detective to see where the case was at and «WHY» there had not been an arrest, charges or at the very least some form of communication as the event happened several months prior and the DA still has it!
There is a lot of hope with Citizen John and Jane Doe in our society that we’d «TRULY» like to believe that cops, sheriffs, etc. are out there doing what we hired them to do and «IDEALLY» that is believed. «REALISTICALLY» and very unfortunately and sadly this is far from the truth! There are so many complaints that to, are covered up or just seem too trivial for the proper handling which would be expected from conception of a case to the conclusion.
Deputies of the SMSO seem to have the false façade that they are untouchable and that the analogy of one deputy or cop doesn’t snitch on the wrong doings of another without there being a severe repercussion which in essence is the deputies policing themselves.
This is not only a terrible way to run a company as there is no reinforcing manager in charge making sure that their employees are doing what is right and those who are not and break the law like anyone else are handled applicably as anyone else.

I’m sure that there may be questions reading this or even doubts of validity but just ask yourself one question. Do you want to wait for the day when you or a loved one or friend find yourselves on the other side of dealing with a corrupt law enforcement agency, deputy (s), cop (s) and ask yourself the question, «Who is going to help me or believe what is going on with my situation???»
Community Boards are what is needed and should be mandatory in all communities so law enforcement isn’t policing itself with any worry of being accountable to their actions.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for the hefty blond officer who pulled over while I was sitting in my car, minding my own business, listening to the radio one summer evening about twenty years ago. Then another unit pulled to the scene. A fat balding guy who looked just like George Costanza forced himself from the unit, sweating and mumbling. He’d been on the force for quite sometime and kept pacing back and forth and repeating «Looks like it’s time for some new tires» over and over ad nauseam like a mentally retarded senior citizen with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The blond guy searched my vehicle, because, you know, any chubby kid sitting in their Volkswagen Beetle might have a machete, a bloody chainsaw, and body parts prepared in bubble wrap… But hurray, all he found was less then a teaspoon of cannabis and a homemade wooden pipe that looked like a dradle saved in a house fire (and was equally painful to smoke out of as to look at). When I saw him holding the baggy, I thought for sure I’m going to be in handcuffs in short order and I’ll proceed to lose my mind moments later. He tells me to be on my way, no loitering. I drive away and find my cannabis and my little burnt dradle delicately wrapped and put back in my backpack! I salute you, heavy blond police man, for really truly doing the right thing; twenty years later I’ve never been arrested, and I’m thankful an SC cop had the common sense not to arrest me over an amount of cannabis that wouldn’t have buzzed an infant…(… my grow system today~…Woooohooo, what a difference~!!!) And Thank The Universe he didn’t find my three large Zip-​Lock bags full of Shrooms and a page and a half of five-​way Blotter Acid in my binder~! ROFL~! That would have been B.A.D~! But you can’t blame him when the Blotter Acid looked like binder paper (with lightning bolts and Hello Kitties around the perimeter) and the Shooms were tucked waaaay under the dashboard. Man, Those Were The Days~!!! Thanks heavy blond San Carlos cop!!!

They are a group of men and women that work hard everyday. We appreciate you Officers. Keep up the good work and continue to keep this city safe.
